Chapter 252 Assets Under Isaac’s Name
Chapter 252 Assets Under Isaac’s Name
George nodded and dialed David's number.
"David, pull people immediately to investigate two things thoroughly."
"First, find out exactly how Jennifer got out of prison and document everyone who was involved in the process."
"Second, monitor all of Jennifer's communications and send me and Charlotte the information in real time."
"Understood, Mr. Summers. I'll assign people to follow up on both leads right away and report back as soon as we have anything."
Hanging up, George turned to look at Charlotte beside him.
His chest tightened. He walked over to her and gently grasped her wrist.
"Charlotte, don't go to the office tomorrow. Stay home and rest. The media circus is out of control—I'm worried people might ambush you."
Charlotte pulled her wrist free.
"I have a mountain of design proofs to review and work piling up. There's no way I can just stay home."
George pressed his lips together, refusing to budge an inch.
"Then I'll go with you. With me there, no one will dare give you trouble."
Charlotte let out an exasperated sigh.
"George, can you please stop being so clingy? Don't you have your own company to run? You follow me to work every single day—not only does it interfere with your own business, it also disrupts my work."
"David handles everything at the company. All project updates are synced to me—I don't need to be there constantly." George lowered his gaze, his voice carrying a hint of hurt. "Right now, I'm not worried about anything except you."
"What if Jennifer has people waiting outside your building? I can't relax if I'm not with you."
His fingers curled slightly at his sides, like an anxious, oversized puppy.
He looked at Charlotte with pleading eyes.
Meeting that expression, Charlotte felt her irritation melt away.
She simply couldn't resist when he looked so pitiful. She gave in with a sigh.
"Fine, fine. You can come. But you're not allowed to cause trouble in my office, and don't interrupt when I'm working with my team."
George's eyes lit up instantly.
"I promise I'll sit quietly and won't disturb your work at all."
The next morning, they drove together to Elysian Designs.
The receptionist spotted them arriving together and greeted them with a smile.
"Ms. Blake, Mr. Summers is accompanying you to work again today."
Several employees from the design department passing by turned to look, exchanging glances and whispering with amused smiles.
"Mr. Summers is so attached to Ms. Blake—he comes with her to work every single day without fail."
"You can tell he really treasures Ms. Blake. He can't stand to be apart from her even for a moment."
The teasing comments drifted to Charlotte's ears, and the tips of her ears flushed pink.
She kept her expression neutral and quickened her pace slightly.
George, however, felt no embarrassment whatsoever. He moved closer to Charlotte, openly accepting the attention.
When the elevator reached their floor, Charlotte pushed open the office door with George right behind her.
Charlotte had just settled at her desk, computer still booting up, when her phone rang.
An unknown number flashed on the screen.
They exchanged a glance, both knowing who was calling.
Charlotte pressed the speakerphone button. Jennifer's voice came through the line.
"Have you made up your minds yet?"
George was about to refuse when Charlotte stopped him, shaking her head slightly.
"What's the rush? Didn't you say we had three days?"
Jennifer let out a cold laugh on the other end, her voice dripping with twisted malice.
"Fine. I'd love to see how long you can stall."
"If your answer doesn't satisfy me in three days, you'll both suffer the consequences!"
With that, Jennifer hung up.
Jennifer's rage boiled over, and she wanted to smash her phone.
Who did Charlotte think she was?
How dare she talk to her like that when she had leverage!
But her arm stopped mid-swing.
Right now, all her expenses came from that mysterious benefactor who had never shown his face.
She had no savings. If she angered him and he cut off her funding, she'd be stuck.
Forcing her fury back down, Jennifer irritably ran her fingers through her hair and dialed the mysterious man's virtual number.
A man's impatient voice came through the line.
"What now? I told you not to keep calling me!"
Jennifer swallowed her resentment and softened her tone, adding a hint of flattery.
"I wanted to ask what I should do."
"George still won't marry me. He says he'll give me an answer in three days."
"I can't quite read him. I have a feeling he won't agree."
After listening, the mysterious man felt his temples throbbing.
"That's what you're bothering me about? Some trivial nonsense? Figure it out yourself. I don't have time to worry about your petty problems. If that's all, I'm hanging up."
Then the line went dead.
The flattery vanished from Jennifer's face.
She nervously bit her nails, silently cursing the mysterious man.
Hiding in the shadows—did he actually want to help her or not?
The mysterious man tossed his phone onto his desk, a flash of viciousness in his eyes.
He dialed his assistant's number.
"Keep tabs on Jennifer's movements. The moment she releases all the plagiarism materials on schedule, immediately activate all our media contacts and influencer accounts to amplify it. Push the story to the top. Don't give George any chance to respond."
The assistant responded respectfully, "Understood. All channels are already in position. We're just waiting for Jennifer to release the materials, then we'll coordinate the media blitz."
Hanging up the internal line, the mysterious man leaned back in his leather chair, his eyes full of calculation.
This time, he would grind George into the dirt with no hope of recovery.
Time flew by. Before long, it was late afternoon, nearly closing time. Charlotte was bent over her desk reviewing new product design details.
George's phone suddenly vibrated.
It was David.
George answered. "Did you find something?"
David's voice carried a note of gravity.
"Mr. Summers, we tracked Jennifer's call records from today. She contacted an unknown virtual number around noon. We've used multiple channels to investigate, but we can't lock down the actual identity of the number's owner."
"However, we can track the signal location. I'm sending you the number and the coordinates now."
"Good. Send it immediately." George's voice was low.
Seconds after hanging up, his phone received David's message.
He quickly walked to the desk, turning his phone screen toward Charlotte.
"David found the virtual number Jennifer contacted. The location is here. Can you pull up the exact address?"
Charlotte frowned slightly, her fingers flying across the keyboard.
An electronic map appeared on the screen, the location marker settling on a commercial office building.
A moment later, she looked up at George, her tone growing heavier.
"Take a close look at this location. Do you recognize which company owns this building?"
George leaned in to examine the building name on the screen, disbelief flashing in his eyes.
"This is one of Isaac's properties. He owns the entire building."
