Chapter 95 Give him a call
Ava's p.o.v
It's been one year since I divorced Herman and mom insisted that we should stay with her until I'm ready to stay alone but after giving it a deep thought, it was a good idea to stay with her because she helps me with Halsey and they're both friends.
It was a weekend and I had stepped out to buy some groceries for the house and I was at the till clearing the bill when I sniffed a cologne that felt familiar and when I turned,it was Liam standing behind me.
We made eye contact and I nearly dropped my bags to the floor.
I parted my lips in an attempt to say something but it all failed and we kept our eyes locked for a while.
“Dad,can we clear the bill and leave already?” Her girl came from behind and I had not even seen her in the first place.
“Yeah sure sweetie,” he proceeded to the till and I stepped out of the way.
I moved out of the grocery store and placed my hand over my chest to calm my nerves down because I was breathing heavily like an athlete.
I stood at one side of the parking lot just a few metres from his car because I still remember it.
My eyes were stuck at the grocery store exit door and patiently waiting for them to step out even though I didn't know if it was a good idea to stay behind and wait for him!
I finally saw them walking out the grocery store and he had carried his girl at the back while carrying the bags in both his hands and they were both talking and laughing out loud.
I moved closer to their car as they also approached it.
“Uhm,hey Liam,can we talk? Please,” I managed to form a sentence.
“Uhm,oh okay…Sweetie kindly wait for me in the car,I won't take long,” he opened the door for her.
“Hey auntie Ava,” she waved at me before getting inside the car.
“Oh my goodness! she knows my name!” I dumbly asked
“Of course she does,” he replied.
“You've been talking to her about me?” I folded my hands.
“Hell no! Remember the first time her mom introduced me to her as the dad,you were also there so I think she still remembers you,” he replied.
“Ohh yeah! I do remember that day very well…so how's she?” I asked
“Who?”
“Her mom,”
“Ohh! She's very fine,thanks for asking and how's your husband?” He placed both his hands in the pant pockets.
“Hmm! That's a story for another day,” I looked away.
“Well,if you say so…uhm,why did you want us to talk?” he asked.
“Uhm,I just wanted to know how you're doing?” I replied.
“Uhm,as you can see…I'm perfectly fine,thanks for the concern,” he curved his lips in a faint smile.
“Good to know,”
“Is that all? Because I need to run,I don't want to keep my girl waiting for long,” he asked.
“Yeah,yeah sure…thanks for your time,”
“Okay then,have a good one,” he turned and ran to his car.
I slapped myself in the face because I expected this conversation to get us somewhere but look what I did!
I moved to my car and drove back home and I called Alma to put the groceries in the kitchen then I moved to my room and threw my body on the bed.
I heard a knock on the door and I stood up to open it but it was mom standing out there.
“Mom,what is it?” I walked back in and sat on my bed.
“Why the attitude? What happened?” She came and sat down next to me on the bed.
“Mom please! Not now,”
“I'm just concerned,so talk to me if anything is bothering you,” she insisted.
“Mom,I'm fine,”
“Stop lying…whenever you step out to get anything or from work,when you get back,you first look for me or Halsey but today you just came straight to your room,”
“Mom,it's because I'm tired and I want to be all alone if you don't mind,” I angrily replied.
“Girl listen,you better control your emotions because this is my house and you absolutely can't talk to me like that,” she scolded me.
“Okay whatever…but can I please be in my space?”
“No ma'am,I'm not leaving till you tell me what's bothering you at the moment because this isn't you,” she wasn't going to give up just like that.
“Ahh mom why are you so persistent! When someone is not ready to talk, why is it so hard for you to let them be?” I slapped myself in the face.
“Now,start talking already,”
“Well,I met up with Liam at the grocery store,” I said in one go.
“Woah wait up,say What!!!?” She opened her eyes very wide.
“You heard that right,I'm not repeating myself,”
“Give me the tea,what happened next?”
“What do you mean what happened next? nothing,he went back to his wife and I also drove back home,” I laid down on the bed.
“Are you sure he's now with the mother of his kid?”
“Absolutely yes,he was with his kid and I believe they came from home,” I replied.
“Come on,don't jump to conclusions yet,”
“Mom it's quite obvious besides that,that woman is very rich so who in their right mind can leave a rich woman?” I closed my eyes out of frustration.
“Stop having crazy thoughts,if he was after her money,why would he spend all those years with you? I still believe that you two can get time and talk,” she held my hand.
“Mom forget it,he seemed very happy so I wouldn't want to ruin his happiness right now,”
“Give him a call,”
“Mom,are you crazy!! I can't do that,”
“Of course you can,if you're in this mood,it's because you are still bothered by him and there are still his feelings inside there so,fight for your man haha,” she smirked.
“The man is married to his sugar mummy and how do you expect me to fight for him huh?!” I buried my face in the pillow.
“I'm calling him right now,” she picked up my phone and started scrolling for his contact.
“Mom,stop this…this is crazy,”
I started running after her all over the room but she lifted her hand up in the air so I couldn't reach the phone.
She put it on speaker when it started ringing and the next thing I heard was a hello from a husky voice.
“Don't ruin it,” mom mouthed me.
“Ava,are you there? Hellooo…,”
“Yes,uhm…hey,” I stammered.
“Is everything okay?” he asked and I got chills all over.
“Yeah,yes…I mean,did you guys reach safely?” I asked a very irrelevant question.
“Yes we did,” then he kept quiet.
“Can we meet tomorrow?” I covered my mouth.
“Uhm,yes…give me a call tomorrow morning and we plan,”
“Oh okay then,bye,” I hung up.
“See,easy peezy!” Mom teased me.
