Chapter 84 I lied to you about Halsey
Ava's p.o.v
We found her leaning on my car with her hands folded over her chest.
“Hey Halsey, you got us worried,” I scolded her
“As you can see i'm fine so drop your worries,” she replied while looking away
“Hey,since when did you develop this attitude, young girl??” I asked her
“Since you accepted to get married to that man,” she pointed out to Herman
I was aiming to give her a hot slap but Herman held my hand in the air and stopped me from my actions.
“No,you don't have to do it…we can handle the situation way better,” he whispered close to my ear.
“But she's getting out of hand and I don't want her to get the audacity to say whatever she wants in your face because you're her dad,” I whispered back
“What did you just say?” He pulled me more closer
“Uhm never mind,it was just a slip of the tongue,” I shrugged .
“Ohh okay then…let me take you guys back home,” he opened the back door and Alma stepped in then I gestured to Halsey to also do the same.
She first hesitated but later gave in and also stepped inside the car.
“My queen after you,” he opened the passenger door for me and I pecked him on the lips before stepping inside the car.
He ran to the other side and also sat in the driver's seat and we set off.
We reached home and the moment Herman pulled over in front of our apartment,Halsey quickly opened the door,stepped outside the car then ran inside the house without looking behind.
“Good night Mr.Herman and congratulations once again on this day,” Alma uttered before running after Halsey.
“What a crazy day!” I leaned back in the seat
“I know babe but I can't blame her for acting up because I'm not her dad and she still has Liam in her life so it doesn't make sense to her if you suddenly bring me up in her life,” he replied while rubbing my cheek.
“Yeah,you're right anyway and besides that…she's still young to understand this whole situation,” I replied
“Yes babe,so for that reason,please let's excuse her,” he turned my face and I looked towards him then he gave me a warm smile.
“Uhm I think you need to know something before we go inside the house,” I said
“Oh okay what is it?” he asked
“Uhm,I don't know if this is the right time to have this conversation but I feel like I can't keep it away from you anymore,” I replied while burying my face in my hands.
“Babe,what is it? You're scaring me now,” he sounded anxious.
“Uhm,first of all promise me that you're not going to get mad at me,” I extended my pinky so that we could make a pinky swear.
“Okay okay I promise,” he crossed his pinky with mine and I took a deep breath.
“Babe,what the hell is going on? Are you doing drugs or something behind my back?” he asked.
“What??! Hell no! Why would you think of me like that?” I asked.
“I'm sorry baby but I can't think straight now because you're making me anxious…please start talking already,” he looked over at me.
“Okay,the thing is…I lied to you babe,” I closed my eyes out of shame while leaning back.
“What do you mean by that?” he asked.
“Uhm,I lied to you about Halsey,” I replied in one go.
“What is that supposed to mean? Please tell me something meaningful…is Halsey not your biological daughter?” he asked.
“No,she is my daughter,” I replied.
“Okay,then what did you mean by the previous statement?” he asked again.
“Uhm,I lied to you that Liam is her dad but in actual sense you're the dad,” I exhaled after saying that out loud.
“Ava,what the hell are telling me right now??” he screamed.
“You promised not to get mad at me please,” I reminded him.
“Forget about the pinky promise already because I need to hear that again, maybe my ears didn't get it right,” he held my hands
“Herman,you're the real dad to Halsey and I didn't tell you the truth because by the time I gave birth to her,I was with Liam and you were already out of my life so we played it like that,” I replied in one go.
“Wait,does my girl know about this whole thing that I'm her real dad??” he asked.
“No please, she doesn't know it yet because I didn't want to break the news to her since she's still young…I don't want to mess with her psychologically,” I replied.
“Dang it! I really didn't see this coming,” he banged the steering wheel out of frustration.
“Babe,I'm really sorry and when we got back together,it was on my mind since then to tell you the whole truth till today when I gained the courage to spill it,” I held his hand to calm him down.
“So does Liam know that he isn't the real dad to my girl?” he gritted his teeth while asking
“Yes babe,he knows the whole truth,” I replied.
“So,it's me that you didn't bother telling the truth huh?” He glared at me and this is when I realised that I made a mistake telling him the truth even though it was the right thing to do because he deserved to know the truth.
“Not in that way but back then things weren't okay between us so there was no way I could come up with such a conversation,” I replied
“Hmmm I see,so what's your plan now?” He asked.
“Uhm,Halsey will need to know the truth eventually but not now…at least let's give her some time,” I replied
“Like how long?” he asked
“Uhm,when she's done with high school maybe,” I replied
“What?? That's too long…you want me and my girl to be distant for that long?? I can't accept that,please you better come up with a better plan because I want to spend time with both of you on good terms,” he replied.
“We can work on that for a meantime so that both of you get along because she's young so we can easily get her attention but about telling her the truth,please let's give her some time,” I requested.
He pulled me in a hug and squeezed me so tight then pulled out and cupped my face then said,” I love you more Ava,you made me a father already and I can't wait to become a dad to my girl…thank you so much babe,” he kissed me on the lips.
“Maybe if you told me back then that you were pregnant,I would have taken good care of both of you but nevertheless,I can still make it up to you two,” he kissed me more.
He really got emotional and his eyes became watery,this was the first time to see him in such a condition and I didn't know what to do to comfort him other than kissing him back.
