Chapter 275 Final Chapter

Chapter 275 Final Chapter

Fighting a lawsuit was no simple matter, especially against a behemoth like Black Group. She needed to be in the right legally and maintain a solid position in the business world without giving them any ammunition.

The following days were grueling for Daisy.

Vincent wouldn't resort to underhanded tactics against her. In fact, he treated her even better than before.

Every day, he joined her in dropping Luna off and picking her up from school, then went to martial arts class with them.

Daisy couldn't refuse in front of their daughter. He'd shamelessly show up, even finding opportunities to appear at her business meetings. She had no choice but to accept it reluctantly and maneuver around him when she could.

This approach wore her down far more than direct confrontation would have.

Gradually, Vincent's kindness toward her became common knowledge.

At first, Vanessa had quieted down for a while after hearing that Vincent had defended her in the hospital.

But later, after exhausting every trick in her playbook, she realized Vincent was only protecting her out of past sentiment. He would never see her again, let alone marry her. That's when she started targeting Daisy.

The most two-faced incident happened when Vincent was away on a business trip. Vanessa timed it perfectly with kindergarten pickup, throwing herself at Daisy's feet in tears, clutching at Daisy's clothes. "Please, I'm begging you. Don't fight me for Vincent!"

She sobbed pitifully. Just then, Vincent returned from his business trip to pick up Luna and walked right into this scene.

Other parents at the kindergarten witnessed it too, whispering among themselves, assuming Vanessa was the legitimate wife.

Daisy had no choice but to clarify the situation, but she couldn't let Luna stay at that kindergarten anymore. She transferred her to a different one.

Vincent wanted Luna to return to the original elite kindergarten, but Daisy firmly refused.

Luna, bless her heart, didn't want to go to the elite kindergarten anyway. She'd rather stay with Nick.

At that moment, Daisy felt immensely grateful for her good relationship with her family. Otherwise, while juggling the lawsuit and work, she truly wouldn't have been able to take proper care of Luna.

But now, the Hart family rallied together, all helping her seek justice.

After that, Vanessa never appeared before her again. Supposedly, Vincent had sent her out of town.

The lawsuit continued. The turning point came when the Drake family couldn't hold back and tried to harm her.

When their scheme was exposed, Vanessa naturally pretended she knew nothing about it.

But Vincent was no longer so easily fooled.

His attitude gradually shifted. From absolutely refusing to let the Drake family face consequences, to thinking that an appropriate lesson might actually be better.

Aside from the matter of their marriage, all of Daisy's resistance seemed to him like a little ant going in circles, easy to obstruct.

But just as easy to help her achieve her goals.

However, through their ongoing back-and-forth, his temperament gradually mellowed. Even Richard remarked that Vincent's actions had lost some of their sharp edges.

As for the reason for this change, Richard understood perfectly well. He'd even thanked Daisy specifically.

But he hadn't intervened in the Vanessa matter either.

Daisy understood, he was using her as Vincent's whetstone.

Vincent had never failed to obtain anything he set his sights on, which made this situation particularly frustrating for him. In Richard's eyes, it was an excellent opportunity to temper his character.

She would never remarry just because Richard treated her well, because in Richard's eyes, the heir Vincent would always come first.

Whether in the past or now, his kindness toward her as his supposed daughter-in-law was merely 'love me, love my dog'. He simply believed her presence in that position would benefit the Black family as a whole.

But wasn't she also using this opportunity to hone her own abilities?

Word got out about Vincent pursuing her. Though neither of them wanted it to become public knowledge, his every move always attracted extraordinary attention.

Especially such dramatic gossip. It inevitably caused a sensation for a while.

Everyone speculated about when she'd return to the Black family. Even Felix got dragged into the betting pool.

During the peak of the gossip frenzy, Ethan and Sam couldn't escape the frenzy either.

Even Noah was listening to the gossip. He told her in amazement, "You're my first rumored girlfriend!"

Daisy was drinking coffee at the time. Hearing such words in a professional setting, she nearly sprayed coffee all over the desk.

She dabbed at the coffee on her lips, still recovering from the shock. "Could you not say such terrifying things?"

Noah said, "It's the truth!"

Victor was probably the only person whose attitude toward Daisy remained consistently unchanged.

Before seeing evidence of Vanessa's crimes, he firmly believed Daisy was slandering Vanessa.

He humiliated Daisy in public: "You think these cheap tricks can stop Vincent from getting married? Idiot—even if he married ten more times, it still wouldn't be your turn!"

Daisy said calmly, "Think whatever you want."

Soon Victor discovered Vanessa's true colors and came to find her, furious. "Why didn't you explain?"

His manner suggested Daisy owed him something.

Daisy asked calmly, "Why should I explain? I don't need your forgiveness or sympathy, and I don't want to forgive you either."

Victor was struck speechless. Daisy's words made him realize he wasn't just a fool—he'd been an accomplice. Unable to accept this, he avoided Daisy for a while.

Later, when he discovered Vincent had been pursuing her all along, he decided she was two-timing. "If you've already chosen Felix, why keep Vincent on the hook?!"

Daisy looked at him like he was an idiot. Right in front of him, she blocked his contact information and said, "I don't like talking to people without brains."

Victor was clearly devastated. From then on, he refused to appear anywhere she might be.

Daisy realized Vincent was using this whole situation as leverage, waiting for her to be worn down enough to agree to remarry. So aside from matters involving Luna, she refused to meet with Vincent.

She even stopped going on her usual outings because of his interference. If Vincent enticed Luna to go out on weekends, Daisy would go out with Felix instead.

Sometimes Vincent felt like she was deliberately trying to provoke him.

But Daisy's reactions would quickly throw cold water on that notion, showing him it was all just his wishful thinking.

After several years of this entanglement, Reed Corporation and Daisy both gradually grew stronger. Finally, they found their opportunity and took down the Drake family in one decisive strike.

The day the court ruled in their favor, not only the Hart family came to listen, but quite a few industry bigwigs came to watch the show as well.

After all, Black Group's dominance had made plenty of people want to take a bite out of them. Everyone hoped to fish in troubled waters and get their piece.

This case became a classic example, even making it into textbooks. Black Group, which had defended the Drake family, was held up as a cautionary tale for a time. Their stock price plummeted.

Daisy did nothing but continue focusing on her career, yet the Harper family's attitude gradually began to shift as well.

Two weeks after the verdict, she and Felix held their wedding reception.

On the wedding night, Vincent got completely drunk.

At first, Daisy didn't give him much thought, assuming it was just his pride and unwillingness to accept defeat.

But even after Luna grew into adulthood, he never married. Instead, he wanted to hand over Black Group for Luna to manage.

Many more years passed. When Luna inherited the family business and dominated the business world, people would praise her for having Vincent's style.

She'd smile first. "Really? Thank you! My dad is indeed amazing."

Then she'd add, "But I have better judgment than him, and I'm more perceptive. I know who I love!"

At that moment, her phone rang. [Luna, when are you coming home from work? Mom made your favorite shrimp!]

On the other end of the line, Daisy's eyes crinkled with her smile, her whole being radiating happiness.

Luna thought to herself that this happy life would continue forever.
