Chapter 266 Private Island

Chapter 266 Private Island

When Daisy didn't respond, Luna pouted.

Daisy smiled. "Okay, sure."

Only then did Luna brighten up. She asked again, "Mommy, Vanessa called me today and told me to take a picture of the big diamond ring and send it to her!"

Daisy and Grandma exchanged a glance, their expressions turning subtle.

She pulled Luna into her arms. "Can you show Mommy the call log?"

Luna said, "Sure!"

Her phone watch had a call recording feature, so Vanessa's entire call had been captured.

After listening to it, Grandma laughed. "That Vanessa—she never expected our Luna to be so smart. Recording the call and coming to us for advice."

Daisy gave Luna's little cheek a gentle squeeze.

Luna asked, "So can I send her the picture?"

Daisy honestly didn't care much about this. And she knew that given Vanessa's personality, even if Luna refused, Vanessa would find another way to get what she wanted once she knew about the ring.

So she said, "It's up to you. That diamond is yours now—I gave it to you."

Luna didn't overthink it. She went into her room, dug the ring out from under a pile of toys, and snapped several photos to send over.

The message showed as 'read' the instant it went through.

Vanessa opened the photos and stared at the glittering diamond ring. Her vision swam.

The ring sparkled brilliantly, casually sitting next to Luna's toy blocks, looking utterly unremarkable.

At first glance, anyone would mistake it for a toy. Who would guess it was worth billions?

The engagement gift Vanessa had dreamed of—now tossed into a toy pile by some little brat.

For Vanessa, this was nothing short of a silent, absolute humiliation.

And just then, Lindsay called her, bubbling with excitement. "Vanessa, you know what? Vincent seems like he's getting ready to propose to you! I heard he bought a bunch of things overseas recently—"

Vanessa listened, feeling nothing.

Because now she wasn't sure whether Vincent had bought those things for her or for Daisy.

Friday afternoon, Daisy received an invitation from Felix.

"A trip to an island?" She laughed. "What's got you in such a leisurely mood all of a sudden?"

Felix said, "I just wrapped up a big project and can take a few days off. So I wanted to ask my girlfriend, Ms. Hart, if she'd like to join me on a getaway."

Their relationship had been developing steadily, but because of work, it sometimes felt like they'd lost a bit of the spark from when they first met.

Daisy had reflected on whether she was too focused on her career and neglecting the relationship.

But she'd already tried pouring herself completely into a romance once before. It hadn't gone well. So she hadn't made any changes.

When Felix called, Luna was busy stacking blocks. The moment she heard 'island trip,' her ears perked up. "Mommy, I want to go!"

Daisy checked her work schedule and smiled. "Alright, I'm in."

---

They were headed to a private island with breathtaking scenery.

Even Daisy was stunned when they arrived.

"This island only opens to visitors during this season each year. They say it's because the owner thinks the scenery is most beautiful now, but I think it's just smart marketing. The limited-time angle draws in more tourists," Felix said.

The island had very few guests—only seven in total. Besides the three of them, there was a young couple from wealthy families and a foreign couple.

The young couple was a classic power pairing. The girl was Mina Christie, heiress to the iconic beverage brand Coco Cool. The guy was Alan Minahan, son of a major fashion house.

Both were brands frequently seen on TV, so Daisy recognized them.

She didn't know much about the foreign couple, but figured they were likely well-off too.

Mina was lively and outgoing. After greeting them, she even played with Luna for a bit.

Everyone was dressed casually. Daisy's outfit was relatively modest, showing only her shoulders—an orange maxi dress paired with earrings Felix had picked out for her.

She'd also styled a beachy look for Felix.

"With this ocean breeze, I feel years younger!" Daisy couldn't help but say.

Felix glanced at her and smiled. "You're already young. And beautiful."

The island offered various activities. Luna eagerly picked out her favorites. "I want to collect shells, play volleyball, catch and grill fish! And sleep in a treehouse tonight!"

Daisy and Felix indulged her every wish.

Luna excitedly gathered shells.

"Looks like Luna's pretty familiar with islands," Felix remarked.

Daisy smiled but didn't respond.

Deep down, though, she knew Luna's familiarity likely came from having done similar activities with Vincent or Vanessa before.

Suddenly, a yacht appeared in the distance.

At first, no one paid much attention—until they noticed Luna had stopped collecting shells and was staring blankly at the approaching vessel.

Mina, who was also gathering shells, couldn't help but comment, "Didn't they say today's guests were just us? How is there someone else?"

"Yeah, the spots are supposed to be limited," Alan said with a click of his tongue. "Guess money talks."

Though they were joking, everyone was genuinely curious about who was on the yacht.

Then Luna spotted the figure from afar and shouted, "Daddy!"

She ran barefoot across the sand and leapt into his arms.

Vincent caught her in a full embrace and spun her around in the air.

In an instant, the other four people—who had been watching the yacht—turned their attention to Daisy and Felix.

They'd assumed the two were a married couple and Luna was their child.

But now Luna was calling another man Daddy…

Mina nudged Alan. "Hey, isn't that the CEO of Black Group? My dad had dinner with him once."

Alan nodded. "Mine too."

The foreign couple also seemed to recognize Vincent. After a brief moment of surprise, they smiled.

Felix and Vincent's gazes met from across the beach—a brief standoff.

Vincent casually settled Luna on his shoulders, letting her grab his hair while she giggled.

He walked over and greeted everyone in turn.

Daisy and Felix gave him a polite, detached hello.

Felix wore a faint smile. "Mr. Black, what brings you here? Aren't you usually swamped?"

Vincent said, "Not lately."

He asked Luna, "What have you been up to?"

Luna said, "Collecting shells!"

Vincent praised her for picking such pretty ones, then asked, "What do you want to do next?"

Luna said, "Daddy, let's go on the submarine! Mommy, will you come play with me too?"

By this point, Mina and Alan had picked up on the tension and stepped back.

Mina whispered, "Am I sensing some serious competition here? Who is this Daisy? I've never heard of her before!"
