Chapter 218 What to Do If You Can't Marry Evelyn?
Alaric walked to Cordelia's room door and raised his hand to knock.
The door was quickly opened by Cordelia.
As soon as she opened the door, Alaric held out the dessert gift box in his hand to her.
Cordelia looked at the what was presented to her, froze for a moment, and didn't reach out to take it.
Seeing that she wouldn't take it, Alaric spoke up.
"Desserts. Don't you like them?"
Cordelia glanced at the gift box in front of her and politely declined.
"Mr. Hughes might have the wrong person. I don't really like eating desserts."
Even if she occasionally ate them, she would just taste them, and besides, it was already late at night. Cordelia didn't like eating these sweet things in the evening.
The front desk staff member brought the hair dryer to Cordelia's door at that moment.
Seeing this, Cordelia immediately reached out her hand toward her.
The staff member handed the hair dryer to Cordelia right away, apologizing quietly, "Sorry, Ms. Stone."
Cordelia smiled politely, "It's okay."
After taking the hair dryer, she turned back into the room and closed the door behind her.
The front desk staff member just felt the atmosphere was very awkward, then quickly slipped away.
Evelyn, seeing Alaric get rejected, relaxed her brow in a pleasant mood and walked into the elevator.
When Bruce was about to follow, she immediately put out her hand to block him, saying expressionlessly.
"You stay here and comfort Mr. Hughes. He must be pretty upset."
As she spoke, she gave a gentle push, pushing Bruce out of the elevator.
Bruce could only sigh softly, walk to Alaric's side, and put his hand on his shoulder.
"Looks like you're not doing much better either."
Alaric's face darkened, and he gave him a cold glance.
Bruce smiled awkwardly and withdrew his hand, "How about I take you out for a couple of drinks?"
Alaric shot him a cold look.
"I can't drink."
Bruce acknowledged this and added a sentence.
"Cordelia wouldn't mind you having a drink occasionally."
Alaric's expression grew even colder.
Bruce pinched his nose and said with a smile, "Cordelia has a pretty stubborn personality. Even if you stand here until dawn, she probably still won't take your desserts. Why don't you give them to me? I'll take them upstairs to win over Evelyn?"
Alaric gripped the dessert gift box tightly and replied coldly.
"Get lost."
Bruce smiled and continued to twist the knife.
"Since you don't need me to stay and comfort you, I'll head upstairs first. After all, I still have a girlfriend to win over, and you don't."
"Sometimes I really envy single people like you."
Alaric's cold eyes instantly darkened.
Bruce knew that if he continued, he'd be joking with his life, so he quickly left.
Alaric stood at Cordelia's room door for a long time, but eventually left carrying the gift box.
He returned to his own floor, and as soon as he stepped out of the elevator, he saw Janet standing at his room door.
Janet saw Alaric, smiled, and walked toward him.
"Alaric, I have a question I'd like to ask you."
Alaric walked past her expressionlessly, casually placing the dessert in his hand on the lid of a nearby trash can.
"I'm not in the mood to guide you."
Janet looked at his coldly handsome face, her expression stiffened slightly, looking somewhat hurt.
"Alright then, get some rest early."
Alaric didn't answer her, went straight into his room, and closed the door .
Janet looked at the now tightly closed door, bit her lip hard, her eyes slightly red.
As she left, her steps paused in front of the trash can.
This was a brand new dessert gift box, with the packaging sticker still on it, clearly unopened.
She hesitated for a moment, reached out to pick up the gift box, and through the transparent small window saw the delicate desserts inside.
She couldn't help but think of Alaric's unsettled appearance just now. He had probably been rejected by Cordelia.
Janet felt terrible inside.
A cleaning worker came from the end of the hallway to clean up the trash.
Janet quickly put the gift box back on the trash can lid.
The cleaning worker saw that the gift box was still unopened and Janet didn't want it. She paused and asked quietly.
"Miss, don't you want this gift box?"
Janet didn't answer.
The cleaning worker asked carefully again, "If you don't want it, can I have it?"
Janet nodded and replied naturally, "Take it."
With her permission, the cleaning worker picked up the gift box, smiling and thanking her repeatedly.
Those who stayed in hotel suites were generally important guests, and the things these important guests threw away were beyond what ordinary people like them could afford.
So cleaning workers often picked up some good things that guests didn't want.
Cordelia wasn't affected by Alaric at all.
After blow-drying her hair, she lay down on the bed and fell asleep immediately, until Evelyn came down to find her in the morning.
After Evelyn woke Cordelia up, she invited a stylist over to do her styling.
Evelyn chose the same style purple suit for Cordelia as hers.
Both of them had delicate skin and similar figures. Standing together, they even gave off a feeling of being twins.
After changing clothes, Cordelia naturally linked arms with Evelyn.
By Evelyn's side, Cordelia's behavior was slightly more lively than usual.
Evelyn and Cordelia went downstairs together.
The hotel front desk receptionists were sharing desserts.
"I just looked it up. This dessert is made by an internationally renowned dessert master. Ordinary people can't even buy it if they want to. Such expensive desserts, and Janet just gave them away like that. She's really generous."
"The internet has been saying that Ms. Martin and Alaric are dating. I think it might be true. After all, Ms. Martin is just a small internet celebrity. How could she possibly have access to such top-tier desserts?"
They mentioned Janet in their conversation, so Cordelia couldn't help but look over there.
She immediately saw the gift box placed on the counter. A flash of confusion crossed her eyes, but she quickly calmed down.
Evelyn's gaze also swept over there.
Her cool eyes swept over, carrying waves of coldness, as if everything around instantly froze.
The front desk receptionists froze for a few seconds, then quickly took the gift box away.
Although they were intimidated by Evelyn's gaze, their eyes still fell on Evelyn and Cordelia at the same time, unable to look away for a moment.
Evelyn's looks were aggressively beautiful, while the aura Cordelia gave off was that of a gentle and dignified wealthy young lady.
Standing together, they were perfectly harmonious, both beautiful enough to take one's breath away.
Bruce drove the car to the hotel entrance. Seeing Cordelia and Evelyn coming out together, he quickly got out of the car and opened the door, his manner gentlemanly and careful.
As Cordelia bent down to get in the car, she said softly.
"Thank you, Bruce."
Hearing Cordelia's thanks, Bruce was so moved inside that he wanted to cry.
He had spent the entire night last night in worry.
He had been constantly worried about what would happen if he offended Cordelia and couldn't marry Evelyn. Now his heart was finally half at ease.
