Chapter 208 Jason is Very Afraid

Chapter 208 Jason is Very Afraid

After resting for a day that also left her exhausted, Cordelia returned to work at the hospital the next day, just like usual.

The hospital had quite a few patients now, so the two days off per week were mostly taken individually.

Sometimes when things got too busy, there might not even be any time off at all.

After changing into her white coat in the locker room, Cordelia walked to her office.

Just as she reached the entrance, she heard a scream coming from Jason's room.

With the senior caregiver looking after him these past few days, Jason rarely made sounds like that anymore—he cooperated with everything.

She frowned and headed toward Jason's room.

The senior caregiver that Jason's mother had hired stood at the door. Seeing Cordelia approach, she reached out to stop her.

"Sorry, Dr. Stone. Mr. White has a visitor."

A flash of confusion crossed Cordelia's eyes as she said in a low voice.

"Didn't you hear Jason's voice just now?"

The caregiver still wore a smile on her face. "Sorry, I didn't hear anything."

Cordelia's expression darkened. Something was off about this caregiver.

Jason was her patient. If anything happened to him at Sunrise Valley Hospital, the hospital would be held responsible.

So with a dark look, she moved the caregiver's hand aside and reached for the door handle.

The moment her hand touched the handle, the door opened from inside.

Julian stood at the doorway, looking down as he wiped his fingers with a handkerchief.

"Ms. Stone."

"What a coincidence."

Seeing Cordelia at the door, Julian greeted her first, an evil smile on his face.

Jason was a regular at the bar, and Julian's family was in the entertainment business, so Cordelia wasn't surprised they knew each other.

"What did you do to my patient?"

Jason's scream earlier had been too terrible, and only Julian and Jason were in the room.

Hearing this, Julian glanced sideways at Jason lying in the hospital bed.

"Mr. White, did I do anything to you?"

Jason was in too much pain to speak now. He just shook his head frantically.

Julian smiled and looked at Cordelia.

"Ms. Stone, you see, Mr. White says I didn't do anything to him. You must have misunderstood."

Cordelia took a breath, pulled her gaze away from Julian, and walked into Jason's room.

Julian didn't leave right away. Instead, he looked at Cordelia and said calmly.

"Ms. Stone, not everyone in this world deserves to be saved by you. Some scumbags just shouldn't be alive."

Cordelia frowned and looked up at Julian, replying with hidden meaning.

"Like Mr. Pierce, for example?"

Hearing this, Julian's expression froze, then he sneered. "Is Ms. Stone regretting saving me back then?"

Cordelia didn't answer Julian's question. She just lowered her head to examine Jason's injuries.

Julian stood there for quite a while.

Jason didn't dare let Cordelia touch him now.

"I want a different doctor."

His voice was strained.

Cordelia frowned and said coldly.

"All the doctors at Sunrise Valley Hospital are busy with their own things. Don't move around."

Jason was breathing heavily, not daring to look at Cordelia.

Cordelia frowned slightly and glanced at him. Evil people will eventually be tortured and subdued by even more evil people.

Jason, this evil man, was still afraid of Julian—this demon.

After Cordelia finished examining Jason, Julian had already left at some point.

The top-tier caregiver had left with Julian too.

Cordelia looked at Jason lying in bed. Without saying much, she gave a few instructions. Just as she was about to leave, Jason grabbed her hand.

"I...I want to transfer hospitals."

He forced out these words with great difficulty, and almost immediately after speaking, he let go of Cordelia's hand.

Cordelia also noticed Jason's emotions.

He seemed very afraid of her.

"What did Julian say to you?"

Jason didn't answer Cordelia's question. He didn't even dare make eye contact with her, just kept repeating, "I want to transfer hospitals."

Seeing this, Cordelia didn't try to keep him. She nodded and agreed.

"Okay."

"Have the hospital you want to transfer to come pick you up, and I'll prepare your transfer report on my end."

After saying this, she walked out of Jason's room.

Seeing her leave, Jason breathed a huge sigh of relief and immediately pulled out his phone to make a call.

He never imagined his injury was connected to Julian.

He thought Julian was the one who saved him, but it turned out Julian was the one who hurt him.

He had just mentioned to Julian that his attending physician was Cordelia, and said some dirty things about how Cordelia in her work clothes looked much sexier and more attractive than what he saw at the bar that day.

He even said he just wanted to stay in the hospital and didn't want to be discharged—having Cordelia come check on him every day.

When Cordelia's hands touched his body, he felt like he was floating on air.

Before he could finish talking, Julian suddenly grabbed his broken arm and twisted it hard, saying that since he liked staying in the hospital so much, he'd make sure he stayed longer.

Jason had known Julian for a long time.

He had never seen Julian look as terrifying as he did just then. The murderous intent in his eyes was unforgettable.

The other hospital Jason was transferring to came to pick him up quickly.

His condition wasn't very complicated, and it had stabilized. Since he wanted to transfer, Cordelia naturally let him go.

When Jason was leaving, Cordelia went out to speak with the medical staff picking him up.

The whole time, Jason didn't dare look at Cordelia, urging the medical staff to leave quickly.

After he left, the department hallway became quiet.

Seeing this, the nurse in charge of Jason looked confused.

"Dr. Stone, that Mr. White seems really afraid of you."

You should know that Cordelia was the most responsible and gentle doctor with patients in their department.

Jason had been pretty bold in front of Cordelia before.

How did he suddenly change completely today?

Cordelia shook her head slightly. "I don't know."

"Maybe someone said something to him."

Jason only became afraid of her after seeing Julian.

Julian probably said something, which is why Jason was so wary of her.

Cordelia didn't dwell on it. She turned and went back to her office.

Outside the hospital, Julian sat in his car, holding a cigarette in one hand with his arm extended out the window.

He watched Jason being picked up by the other hospital's vehicle. He smiled coldly, flicked his cigarette out the window, and drove away.

As Jason was getting in the car, he saw Julian's vehicle and his expression immediately froze.

Julian was Shadowpine's demon.

He usually wore a carefree smile on his face, but those who knew him understood that his methods were ruthless and vicious.

Supposedly many years ago, he deliberately ran over and killed a medical student over some conflict.

The Pierce family hired the country's top legal team for him, and it was eventually classified as a traffic accident. The Pierce family paid compensation and that was that.

Although Jason liked to party and talked tough, he was actually afraid of death.

He didn't dare offend Julian.

Before this, he had no idea Julian was interested in Cordelia, which is why he said those dirty things in front of him.

Now Jason was scared to death.
