Chapter 140 How Has Marigold's Health Been During This Time?
After saying goodbye to Donald, Thomas left with Cordelia.
As they were leaving, Amber stood at the door looking at them expectantly, as if she really wanted to go out with them.
Seeing this scene, Thomas felt his heart melt.
Even he, someone who liked men, found Cordelia so beautiful that she was a pleasure to look at. He really couldn't understand how Cordelia's husband could have brought himself to divorce her when she was pregnant.
After driving out of The Stone Manor, Thomas couldn't help but say something to Cordelia.
"Your ex-husband probably has an abnormal sexual orientation. You might have been deceived!"
Apart from this possibility, Thomas really couldn't figure out what other reason could make Cordelia's ex-husband leave such a perfect wife and choose divorce.
Hearing Thomas's words, Cordelia raised her eyebrows slightly.
"You're the first person to come to that conclusion."
Thomas sighed softly and said, "The thing is, there are many people nowadays who really can't escape society's judgment, so they choose to take the 'normal person' route and end up hurting innocent girls."
"Ken is that kind of bad man too."
As Thomas spoke, he looked at Cordelia with an expression of shared misery.
Cordelia smiled and said lightly, "They are indeed both bad men."
The two chatted and laughed all the way to the restaurant Thomas had booked.
When they arrived, Cordelia discovered it was Moonlight Bistro.
Moonlight Bistro was one of Alaric's properties. For some reason, anything connected to Alaric made Cordelia's heart involuntarily pay attention.
She steadied her emotions and accompanied Thomas into the restaurant.
As Thomas walked into the restaurant, he gently put his hand around Cordelia's waist and said softly, "Excuse the liberty."
In Cordelia's eyes, Thomas was more like a gay friend, so she had no objection to his behavior.
The floor manager of Moonlight Bistro saw Cordelia and Thomas walk in together, and his expression became quite subtle. He came forward to greet Cordelia.
"Ms. Stone."
Cordelia nodded slightly, her expression calm.
Thomas had just scanned around but couldn't find the private room his mother had booked, so he asked the floor manager at the entrance.
"Where is Starlight Room?"
The floor manager's expression changed slightly, then he asked doubtfully.
"Are you Mr. Thompson?"
Thomas nodded slightly.
Cordelia raised her eyebrows, feeling that the floor manager's expression was quite subtle.
"Mr. Thompson, Ms. Stone, please follow me."
The floor manager immediately led Thomas to "Starlight Room."
At the door of "Starlight Room," the floor manager knocked, then invited Cordelia and Thomas into "Starlight Room."
Thomas, with his arm around Cordelia's waist and a smile on his face, spoke first.
"Dad, Mom, this is my girlfriend, Cordelia."
After hearing Thomas's introduction, the floor manager's body trembled.
Thomas's father Terry Thompson and mother Kenna Thompson both turned their gaze to Cordelia, nodded, and made a "please" gesture.
"Ms. Stone, please sit."
Cordelia nodded gently and handed over the gift she had prepared.
"I heard that Mr. Thompson and Mrs. Thompson both love coffee, so I specially roasted these coffee beans myself some time ago."
Terry took the gift box from Cordelia with both hands, nodded with satisfaction, and said with a smile.
"How thoughtful of you."
They had a very good first impression of Cordelia. From her manners and behavior, they could tell that Cordelia came from a well-bred family.
Kenna kept staring at Cordelia, feeling that she looked somewhat familiar, but couldn't remember where she had seen her.
But she couldn't keep staring at Cordelia, so she quickly invited Cordelia to sit down.
Thomas thoughtfully pulled out the chair for Cordelia, and Cordelia sat down gracefully.
Kenna then instructed the manager at the door, "You can serve the food now."
The manager nodded, couldn't help but glance at Cordelia, then left.
After leaving "Starlight Room," he immediately called Robert.
Alaric also had a business dinner at Moonlight Bistro today.
The manager and Robert were classmates, so he knew a bit about Alaric's romantic situation.
Cordelia was someone Alaric treasured, so how had she become Thomas's girlfriend?
Moreover, Thomas and Alaric were also cousins.
After receiving the manager's message, Robert was also shocked. After ending the call, he bent down beside Alaric and repeated what the restaurant manager had just said.
Alaric's expression suddenly changed, and his hand holding the wine glass tightened slightly, but soon he calmed down and said lightly.
"What does it have to do with me?"
Hearing Alaric's words, Robert was stunned for a moment, then quietly stepped aside.
Starlight Room.
After watching Cordelia take her seat, Kenna asked with a gentle smile on her face.
"Cordelia, when did you and Thomas meet?"
Cordelia answered calmly with a smile on her face, "Three years ago, when I went abroad for further studies, I met Thomas."
"Thomas helped me out with something really important back then, so over time we became close."
Kenna nodded and said with a smile.
"I heard you also studied medicine. You two must have a lot in common."
"Actually, we were a bit hasty in wanting to meet you this time, but Thomas has been in Astoria for many years and we haven't really looked after him much. Now that he's not getting any younger, as parents, we can't help but worry about his marriage."
"Cordelia, I hope you don't mind."
Cordelia pursed her lips slightly and smiled.
"Thomas mentioned before that he would introduce me to you after returning home, so I was mentally prepared. It's not sudden for me."
Kenna was very satisfied with Cordelia's answer.
Plus, Cordelia was beautiful, dignified, and graceful. With such a girlfriend, how could Thomas possibly like men as the rumors said?
Kenna secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Thinking this was the first time meeting Cordelia, it wasn't appropriate to ask too much about her family background, but judging from Cordelia's natural and generous manner, her family situation shouldn't be too bad.
Kenna was very satisfied with Cordelia.
Terry naturally was too.
Thomas felt that Cordelia's performance was really excellent. He was very happy and kept serving her food, hoping she would talk more to make his parents even more satisfied, so he could avoid the upcoming string of blind dates.
As the four of them were enjoying themselves, there was a knock on the door.
Before Terry could invite the person in, the door was pushed open from outside.
Alaric walked in holding a wine glass, with a half-smile on his face.
"Mr. Thompson, the restaurant manager told me you were here, so I came specially to have a drink with you."
Seeing Alaric, Terry's expression was very pleased, and he quickly invited Alaric to sit down.
Over the years, Alaric's business had grown bigger and bigger, and he hoped to benefit from Alaric's success.
Alaric smiled, glanced at Cordelia, then sat down to her left, and asked casually.
"I wonder how Great-aunt Marigold's health has been lately?"
