Chapter 316 Ms. Stone Won't Get Jealous, Right?
They were taking the same route as Cordelia, so Alaric nodded slightly and agreed.
"I'll go."
"We'll see each other at the conference anyway."
After hearing this, Robert immediately replied to the other party's assistant, relaying that Alaric would attend the yacht party.
At the hospital.
After returning to her office, Cordelia immediately attended a treatment team meeting.
When the meeting ended, she threw herself into work.
She reviewed diagnostic reports for some patients and prescribed treatments accordingly.
There wasn't much to do, and she'd also barely slept last night, so she found herself feeling especially tired. As usual, she brought lunch to Alaric.
After lunch, Alaric got a phone call, probably a work client, and he stood by the floor-to-ceiling window talking on the phone.
Cordelia sat on the sofa waiting for Alaric to finish his call so she could change his bandages.
The sofa in Alaric's office was soft and comfortable. After sitting for a while, Cordelia kept yawning.
It wasn't long before her eyes began to droop while Alaric talked on the phone. Before long, she shut her eyes and dozed off.
When Alaric finished his call and turned around, he saw her asleep on the sofa.
She wasn't sleeping in a very comfortable position. Seeing this, Alaric walked over and gently moved her, so she could lay properly on the sofa.
While Alaric was moving her, Cordelia opened her eyes briefly. She was so sleepy now that she didn't want to move at all.
"Wake me when it's time," she muttered to him.
Alaric softly agreed, "Okay."
After answering, Alaric took off his jacket and covered Cordelia with it.
She breathed in Alaric's faint mint scent and fell deeper into sleep.
Around one in the afternoon, Robert came to report on work. Just as he was about to knock, Alaric shot him a sharp look.
Robert quickly lowered his hand and tiptoed into Alaric's office, placing the documents on Alaric's desk and whispering.
"Mr. Hughes, this is the contract Barry drafted. Please review it."
Alaric nodded slightly, signaling him to leave.
Robert nodded and glanced toward the sofa.
The moment he looked over, Alaric's warning voice rang out coldly.
"Don't look around."
Robert immediately withdrew his gaze and awkwardly walked out of Alaric's office.
At two in the afternoon, Alaric walked over to Cordelia, planning to wake her up in his own way.
However, she suddenly woke up on her own.
After waking, she immediately checked her phone for the time. Seeing it was already two o'clock, she sat up abruptly.
Alaric had just bent down, about to kiss her when she suddenly woke up and started grabbing her things, getting ready to stand.
He reached out with his long arm and pressed her back down onto the sofa.
Cordelia was a bit confused by his sudden movement, staring blankly at him.
"What..."
She had just started to speak when Alaric leaned down and kissed her lips.
"Cordelia, will you date me starting today?"
He bent his handsome face close to Cordelia's, and a necklace suddenly appeared in his hand. As he spoke, he fastened it around Cordelia's neck.
Cordelia stared at him blankly, her mind a bit foggy.
He looked at her so seriously, his deep eyes seeming like they could draw her in.
Cordelia bit her lip lightly, which seemed to still hold the warmth of Alaric's.
A blush quickly spread across her cheeks. She took a deep breath, suppressing her wildly pounding heart, and said dazedly.
"I..."
"I need to think it over."
He'd expected that she wouldn't immediately agree, but he still felt quite disappointment. His eyes showed a bit of hurt as he sighed.
Seeing the change in his expression, Cordelia bit her lip lightly. The next second, Alaric leaned in and kissed her lips again.
"I'll wait for your answer."
This kiss was very light.
"Go to work. Be careful on the road."
He spoke gently, before letting her go.
Cordelia's face immediately turned red. She grabbed her handbag and quickly left his office.
Watching her rapid pace, Alaric chuckled softly and also walked out of the office.
The receptionist in the executive office area saw Cordelia coming out and smiled.
"Goodbye, Ms. Stone."
Cordelia calmed herself down a bit and returned a smile. "Goodbye."
As she spoke, the elevator doors opened.
Cordelia stepped inside, and just as she turned around, she saw Alaric walking in as well.
She stood there stunned, and a blush spread back cross her cheeks.
Alaric walked over and stopped beside her, naturally placing his hand on her shoulder.
"I'll see you downstairs."
Cordelia hummed in acknowledgement.
When she reached the lobby of the Hughes Group, Hazel was in a tense exchange with the receptionist.
She wanted to see Alaric, but because she didn't have an appointment, the receptionist couldn't let her go up.
The receptionist had also asked Robert, and and he also said she couldn't go up.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Morrison, we're just employees. Please don't make things difficult for us."
"You don't have an appointment, and we called the executive office. Our CEO really doesn't have time."
Hazel took a deep breath, looking at the staff member with dissatisfaction, and said in a low voice.
"I also said I don't have to see your CEO. I'm looking for Robert. I can talk to him, too."
The elevator doors opened, and Alaric and Cordelia walked out together.
After Cordelia saw Hazel, she glanced at Alaric and moved his hand off her shoulder.
"You can see me off here," she said flatly.
Seeing this, Alaric raised his hand again and placed it on Cordelia's shoulder.
"I'll see you to your car."
Cordelia frowned.
"Shouldn't you deal with that situation first?"
After Hazel saw them step out of the elevator together, she smiled and started walking over to them.
With Hazel approaching them, Cordelia instinctively felt the need to keep her distance from Alaric, but he held her tightly and wouldn't let her move.
Hazel wore a smile, glanced at Alaric's hand on Cordelia's shoulder, and very consciously greeted Cordelia first.
"Ms. Stone, it's been a long time."
Cordelia nodded lightly. "Yeah, long time no see."
As she spoke, she looked down at the time and said to Alaric flatly.
"You two chat. I have things to do and need to get back to the hospital."
Alaric reached out to grab her, but Cordelia walked quickly and left with long strides.
Seeing this, Hazel paused for a few seconds, then looked at Alaric and said softly.
"Is Ms. Stone jealous of me?"
Alaric gave her a cold look, then strode out of the Hughes Group building, chasing after Cordelia.
Hazel stood there watching Alaric practically sprint over to Cordelia. She made a little sound of disapproval and turned to speak to a staff member beside her.
"Your boss still hasn't won her over?"
The employee stared at the floor, lips pressed tight. They didn't dare make a comment on Alaric's love life. They were just here for the paycheck, not to get themselves fired.
