Chapter 222 Who Told You? I'm Dating an Internet Celebrity?
Eric also immediately got up from his seat and walked toward Cordelia.
Micah was still arguing heatedly with Floyd.
Eric walked over and first checked on Cordelia's condition. He held his hand protectively behind Cordelia's back to prevent Micah from accidentally hurting Cordelia again. His hand was gentlemanly positioned without actually touching Cordelia's body.
He didn't make any uncomfortable physical contact with Cordelia.
"Ms. Stone, I'm truly sorry."
"I'll have my mother take you to change into a new outfit."
To prepare for unexpected situations, The Butler Estate had spare clothing available.
Cordelia looked at the wine stains on her clothes and was about to decline when Evelyn stood up from her seat and agreed.
"I'll go with you."
Only then did Cordelia nod.
Nicole saw that Cordelia had been affected and her expression changed dramatically. She had been patiently trying to reason with Micah just moments ago, but now her face showed clear displeasure.
"Micah, what are you making a scene about here? Hurry up and apologize!"
Eric knew Micah's temper - getting him to apologize now was absolutely impossible.
"Mom, you take Ms. Stone upstairs to change first."
"Okay." Nicole was both angry and annoyed. After glaring at Micah, she walked to Cordelia's side with an apologetic expression on her face.
"Ms. Stone, I'm so sorry."
As she spoke, she sighed with a helpless look, then led Cordelia and Evelyn upstairs.
Marlowe was still in the dressing room changing. The necklace that could match her reception dress was missing. She had been looking for it for a while but couldn't find it, feeling puzzled.
"I remember I tried it on earlier and put the necklace right here."
Marlowe muttered to herself.
Janet said softly, "Don't worry, let's look carefully. No strangers have been here."
Marlowe paused, and a person's figure involuntarily came to mind.
Cordelia.
She had been here too.
"Marlowe, hurry up, Micah is causing trouble in the inner hall."
A friend's anxious voice came from outside the door. Marlowe snapped back to reality, her expression stiffening.
The inner hall was full of distinguished guests. Although Marlowe was also unhappy with Nicole's arrangements, the people in the inner hall were indeed people they couldn't afford to offend.
Although she had complained a few times in front of Micah, she didn't want Micah to cause a scene in the inner hall right now.
Marlowe couldn't worry about the necklace anymore and immediately walked out of the dressing room.
Janet followed her out. As she reached the doorway, she caught sight of Marlowe's necklace that had fallen in a corner.
Earlier, when the wedding ceremony was about to start, they had left in a hurry. The necklace had probably slipped to the floor and been dragged near the carpet by Marlowe's wedding dress.
Janet bent down to pick up the necklace, but suddenly remembered Marlowe's suspicious expression from earlier.
She pressed her lips together and completely pushed the necklace under the carpet, then stood up and walked out of the dressing room.
Marlowe rushed to the inner hall and saw Eric talking to Cordelia. From her angle, Eric's hand seemed to be resting on Cordelia's shoulder as he gently escorted Cordelia to Nicole with a tender expression.
Nicole was also treating Cordelia very well.
Marlowe couldn't help but remember Janet saying that Cordelia had a bigger backer.
Could it be that Cordelia's backer was Eric?
Marlowe took a deep breath, walked over, and grabbed Micah's hand.
"Micah, what are you doing? Even if you're being treated unfairly, you shouldn't cause a scene today. After the wedding is over, you can discuss it with Dad."
Floyd looked at Marlowe coldly and snorted.
"Don't call me Dad. I haven't accepted you as my daughter-in-law."
Floyd showed her no respect in front of so many people. Marlowe's face turned pale, she bit her lip hard and fell silent.
Seeing Marlowe being treated this way, Micah became even more angry and kept arguing.
Cordelia changed into a new apricot-colored suit upstairs. The style was modest but suited her temperament.
Nicole and Evelyn waited outside the door.
Nicole kept apologizing to Evelyn.
No matter what, Micah was part of the Butler family. The scene he created today had definitely left a bad impression on Evelyn and Cordelia.
Eric wasn't married yet and absolutely couldn't be affected by Micah's behavior today. She could only lament to Evelyn that every family had internal conflicts that were difficult to resolve. After all, she wasn't Micah's biological mother, and no matter what she did, it never satisfied Micah.
Evelyn just listened quietly, occasionally saying a few words to comfort Nicole.
Cordelia came out after changing her clothes.
Nicole immediately grabbed Cordelia's hand and apologized profusely.
Cordelia naturally said politely that it was fine.
They talked as they walked downstairs.
Marlowe saw how warmly Nicole treated Cordelia and couldn't help but remember the first time Micah brought her back to The Butler Estate to meet his parents.
That day, Nicole hadn't even said a single word to her.
Nicole was determined to match Eric with Cordelia. After bringing Cordelia downstairs, she naturally led Cordelia toward Eric.
Seeing this, Marlowe took a deep breath and suddenly felt very unfair.
"Why can Eric do it but Micah can't?"
"Eric can date an internet celebrity, so why can't Micah and I?"
"Oh right, after all, Micah's background isn't very honorable. All these years, he's been a thorn in Nicole's heart. You just want to use this to kick Micah out of the Butler family, don't you?"
As Marlowe spoke, tears welled up in her eyes, looking extremely wronged.
Micah had no idea that Eric was also dating an internet celebrity, but hearing Marlowe say this, he assumed she had solid evidence.
"Yeah, why can Eric date an internet celebrity but I can't?" Micah questioned.
Eric was about to speak to Cordelia when he heard Marlowe and Micah mention his name.
He lightly adjusted the silver frames on his nose. As the lenses reflected light, a dangerous gleam flashed in his eyes, though soon his deep eyes showed no emotion at all.
"Who told you I'm dating an internet celebrity?" he asked coldly.
Marlowe's expression stiffened slightly, and Micah also turned his gaze to her.
Janet walked to Marlowe's side and gently tugged at her arm.
Marlowe suddenly realized she had no evidence to prove that Eric was dating Cordelia.
Moreover, Cordelia wasn't famous, so she couldn't prove she was an internet celebrity either.
She secretly gritted her teeth, then suddenly thought of something and looked up at Cordelia.
"Ms. Stone, when you went to the restroom earlier, you passed by my dressing room. One of my necklaces is missing. Did you see anyone else enter my dressing room?"
After all, the people in the inner hall were business elites and wealthy families, and most of them knew each other.
With Cordelia being an unfamiliar face among them, people present could guess the relationship between Eric and Cordelia, and this could also make everyone misunderstand that Cordelia had poor character and was a thief.
