Chapter 168 Amber Wants to Take Care of Alaric with Cordelia
Cordelia drove to the entrance of Crown Hill Estates with a cold expression on her face.
The security guard immediately came out to stop her, but when he walked over to Cordelia's car and saw it was her, he was stunned for a moment before greeting her proactively.
"Ms. Stone, you're here?"
Cordelia nodded slightly.
The security guard immediately had someone open the gate to let Cordelia in.
Cordelia went straight to the floor where Alaric lived, entered the password, and went inside.
Robert was struggling to help Alaric up from the floor.
"Water!"
Alaric lay back on the sofa, feeling his mouth and throat extremely dry.
Hearing his words, Robert hurried to get water, but just as he turned around, he saw that Cordelia had already filled a cup from the water dispenser and was handing it to him.
"Thank you." Robert quickly took the cup and helped Alaric sit up to drink.
After taking two sips, Alaric lay back down on the sofa.
Perhaps feeling uncomfortable, he let out a muffled groan.
Seeing this, Robert said in a low voice, "Mr. Hughes, Ms. Stone is here. Should we let her take a look at you?"
Alaric had been in a bad mood these past few days, and no one dared to provoke him.
Robert had been walking on eggshells around him during this time.
Hearing Robert's words, Alaric slightly lifted his eyelids, then shook his head.
"No need."
His voice was low, with a hint of resistance in his eyes. After speaking, he raised his arm to press against his forehead.
Seeing this, Cordelia sighed and placed the medicine on the nearby table, saying in a low voice.
"This is his medicine for the second course of treatment."
Cordelia glanced indifferently at Alaric lying on the sofa, then turned to leave.
Robert's expression became very awkward, but he didn't know how to make Cordelia stay.
Just as Cordelia reached the door, a loud crash came from inside the room.
"Ms. Stone, please help me."
Robert's voice calling for help followed immediately after.
Cordelia frowned and returned to the room, only to see that Alaric had rolled off the sofa.
Robert was having difficulty lifting Alaric by himself.
With a stern face, she walked over and reached out to help.
The two of them tried hard but couldn't get Alaric up.
"Ms. Stone, how about this - you hold Mr. Hughes's upper body, and I'll lift his lower body."
Cordelia nodded and followed Robert's suggestion.
After many attempts and great effort, they finally managed to get Alaric back onto the sofa.
The faint, fresh scent from Cordelia's body drifted into Alaric's nose.
Alaric held tightly onto Cordelia's waist and wouldn't let go.
"Cordelia."
He murmured Cordelia's name.
Cordelia frowned and tried to pry his hands away, but after several attempts, it had no effect.
Alaric was very strong when drunk. Even when she pinched his arm hard, he didn't loosen his grip.
Finally, Cordelia could only look to Robert for help.
However, Robert, who had been standing behind her just moments ago, had somehow already left.
Cordelia sighed, looking at the drunk Alaric, wishing she could slap him a few times.
She just stayed there stiffly, locked tightly in Alaric's embrace.
She waited quietly, waiting for Alaric to fall asleep so she could remove his hands.
Just as Alaric's breathing gradually became steady and she tried to get up slightly, Alaric's arms immediately tightened.
Cordelia maintained this position, feeling like her waist was about to break.
"Alaric, let me go."
She spoke in a heavy tone.
Alaric remained unmoved, and sensing her resistance, he tightened his arms even more.
Cordelia frowned. The pain in her waist was becoming unbearable.
"Alaric, you're hurting me!"
Hearing her voice, Alaric loosened his grip slightly, but still held her tightly.
Compared to before when he had her completely trapped, Cordelia could now reach her phone in her bag.
She took out her phone and saw that Robert had sent her a text message.
"Sorry, Ms. Stone, something suddenly came up at the company that I need to handle. I'm leaving Mr. Hughes in your care, thank you so much."
Cordelia was speechless.
Fortunately, after about ten minutes, Alaric fell into a deep sleep and let go.
Cordelia was able to free herself and got up to leave.
However, she had only taken two steps when Alaric on the sofa immediately turned over and almost fell to the floor again.
Cordelia quickly reacted and went over to block him.
Donald's call came through at that moment.
Cordelia gave a hard push, pushing Alaric back into position, and answered Donald's call.
"Dad."
"Amber played with the fish in the tank all afternoon today. She might have caught a chill and now has a bit of a fever. She's crying for you. Are you still at work?"
Donald's voice sounded worried.
Amber's crying could be heard from the other end of the phone.
"I'll come back right away," Cordelia answered immediately.
As soon as she finished speaking and tried to leave, Alaric turned over again, this time falling directly onto the floor.
Cordelia frowned.
Donald also heard the sound. "What happened on your end?"
Cordelia sighed, her tone helpless.
"Alaric is drunk, and Robert went to the office."
Donald was silent for a few seconds, then said, "You're at Crown Hill Estates? We'll come find you."
Since Cordelia couldn't leave Alaric's side, she could only agree to let Donald come over.
After hanging up Donald's call, no matter how hard Cordelia tried, she couldn't get Alaric back onto the sofa.
Looking at Alaric in his current state, Cordelia felt helpless.
Watching Alaric lying motionless on the floor, Cordelia felt a moment of breakdown.
Her eyes couldn't help but turn red, and as if giving up, she hit Alaric several times.
"Alaric! You're making this so hard for me."
Alaric, lying on the floor, seemed to hear her words and struggled a few times, trying to get up.
He was exerting force himself, and this time Cordelia easily helped him back onto the sofa.
After lying on the sofa, Alaric stared blankly at Cordelia, his deep eyes now clouded with haziness.
"Sorry for the trouble."
His tone was somewhat polite, and then he closed his eyes.
Donald soon brought Amber over.
Cordelia heard the doorbell and went to open the door.
Amber had a fever-reducing patch on her forehead. Donald was holding her, with Amber's medicine in his other hand.
As soon as Cordelia opened the door, Donald smelled the strong alcohol odor.
At that moment, Amber quickly pinched her nose.
"Stinky."
Cordelia felt somewhat helpless.
Donald carried Amber inside, glanced at Alaric lying on the sofa, and sighed.
"You take Amber back. I'll stay here and look after him."
Cordelia shook her head. "I want to wait until he sobers up and have a good talk with him."
Ruth was still in the hospital, and Alaric was drinking like this. As his attending physician, she couldn't just watch Alaric's condition get worse and worse.
Donald looked at Amber in his arms.
Amber looked at Alaric lying on the sofa, then at Cordelia, and immediately stretched out her arms toward Cordelia. "Amber wants to help Mommy take care of Mr. Hughes."
