Chapter 60 CHAPTER SIXTY

Chapter 60 CHAPTER SIXTY

Alyssa

I sat behind my desk as I ran through the papers in front of me, I had so much work to do before my trip to Italy for a business conference.

A knock on my office door drew my attention.

"Come in," I said my voice sounding calm yet tired.

The door opened and Marcus walked in first giving me a small nod then behind him was Damon.

He looked different.

His suit was not as nice as it used to be.

He looked a little tired and frustrated like he was going through so much.

"Alyssa," Damon said. "Thank you for this chance. I really think—"

I held up my hand and he stopped talking.

"Sit down Mr Johnson," I said not smiling.

He looked at the two chairs in front of my desk then he sat down in one while Marcus sat in the other.

"This is not a social call," I began. "This is a business arrangement. You owe me money a lot of money. You will work here to pay it back."

"I understand," Damon said. "And I want to thank you—"

I held up my hand again. "You do not talk when I am talking. Do you understand that rule? That is the first rule."

Damon closed his mouth as he nodded frustratingly.

"Good," I said. "You are not a partner here, you are not a manager but a junior employee. You will do the work you are given and you will not complain. You will not give your opinion unless someone asks for it."

"A junior employee?" he said sounding insuulted. "Alyssa you know my skills I built a company and I can be an asset to you. I can help you."

I leaned forward and put my hands on my desk. "Let me remind you that I built that company you are so proud of, the only thing you did was ruin it. You lost my money due to your recklessness so you do not tell me what you can do. I tell you what you will do. Is that clear?"

He looked down at his hands. "Yes," he said quietly.

"Speak up," I said. "I could not hear you."

"Yes," he said louder this time. "It is clear."

"Good," I said. I leaned back in my chair. "Marcus will give you a list of your duties. You will be reviewing old files, you will be checking numbers and be doing data entry. It is simple work but it must be done perfectly."

Damon looked like he wanted to say something, like he wanted to strangle me to death but he was powerless now so he did what was best for him, he stayed quiet.

"Marcus," I said. "Please explain to Mr Johnson what happens if he does not do his job. What happens if he is late and what happens if his work is not good."

Marcus turned to look at Damon with a serious face.

"The rules are very strict here, Mr Johnson," Marcus said. "If you are late even one time, your pay for that day will be cut. If your work has mistakes, you will have to do it again on your own time. No pay. If you refuse to do a task it is a direct violation of your contract."

I watched Damon's face as he was listening carefully.

"And if he breaks the contract?" I asked Marcus my eyes still on Damon.

"Then the deal is off," Marcus said. "You will sue him for the full amount immediately and there will be no more chances."

The room was quiet.

Damon looked from Marcus to me.

"Do you have any questions?" I asked Damon my voice was ice.

He shook his head. "No," he said. "No questions."

"Good," I said I looked at the papers on my desk again. I was done with this conversation. "You can both leave now. Marcus, please show him to his desk. It is the one by the window in the big room the one everyone walks past."

I wanted everyone to see him there, I wanted him to feel small.

"Yes Alyssa," Marcus said as stood up.

Damon stood up too.

He looked like he wanted to say something else but he didn't instead he turned and followed Marcus out of my office.

The door closed behind them.

I let out a long breath I didn't know I was holding my hands were clenched into fists on my desk I slowly relaxed them.

It was done.

He was here and was under my control.

I thought about the look on his face when he heard the rules and how he looked like he was ready to devour me out g rage, but he couldn't.

This was just the beginning and would learn who was boss, he will regret every bit of lies he told me.
