Chapter 79 Master’s wife has arrived.
Ryan and Max exchanged nervous glances, realizing they couldn't back out now, especially since Mr. Dawson was unaware of Destiny's identity.
Roger struggled to recall anyone by that name, prompting Max to provide more information.
"He's the CEO of Silent Chase and he had your and your wife's picture on his phone, claiming he got it from his dad at your birthday party. Mr. Dawson, he's determined to steal your wife."
Roger's demeanor remained composed, masking the turmoil within. "My wife," he repeated, causing a chill to descend in the office, but Ryan confirmed Max's words.
"Mr. Dawson, he's shutting down Silent Chase but plans to start a new company. He planned to recruit Terror D2 and DK-1 but that is already a failed plan." He wondered how Destiny would react when he finds out the identity of the Cyber geniuses, he yearned so much to work for him.
An idea struck Roger, and he proposed, "I'll take you back if you help me track him down." He was resolute in protecting his wife and uncovering the man's identity before taking any action.
The lack of information on Silent Chase's CEO on their website left them with no leads. Roger needed to understand his adversary.
"We'll do anything, Mr. Dawson. You can make us sign a bond. We won't leave unless you dismiss us," Max pledged.
Roger contemplated their offer and then informed them, "My wife has exams starting tomorrow and will last two weeks. I won't be in the office, so I'll have to reinstate your positions..." As he spoke, the two men grew excited, but Roger quickly added,
"Don't celebrate yet. There are conditions for your return before I instruct HR to reinstate you."
They sighed in relief and agreed to the terms as Roger outlined his plan. "You need to contact Destiny and inform him that you have crucial information about Terror D2 and DK-1. I'll provide the location to lure him to."
Karen smiled at Roger's plan because she, too, was eager to know who the idiot was.
"Please consider it done. We'll get in touch with Brad to make the arrangement," Ryan was saying when Roger interrupted, "Remember, you can't tell him who we are. Tell him you've arranged for the meeting, and I'll be there to meet him myself."
Ryan smiled, and after witnessing what happened with Tonia, Max wanted to witness the showdown. "Mr. Dawson, aren't we allowed to attend?"
Roger smiled, but it was a cold smile. "You can, but it has to be after two weeks. I have to focus on my wife."
Now that he had his time back, he had to make it up to Karen in every way for her to pass her exams, and after that, she could take over the company for all he cared.
Dawson's Group, in addition to his uncle's company, was already a handful. Ryan and Max smiled in agreement, and immediately, Roger made a call to HR to restore their positions.
If they played their cards well, then he would be able to trust them again. But if not, then they would be gone forever.
For Roger, second chances were the best because he had also changed because of it. Karen gave him a second chance, and he was extending it to them because knowing your enemy was better than being surrounded by friends.
"Finally, I can study in peace," Karen sighed after the two men left the office, but Roger smirked. "I have a better idea. Let's go."
During the drive, Karen napped, and Roger felt like she needed it because she was going to study through the night. He only made a few calls to put everything in place for her.
Arriving at the mansion, they were met with Milo's report. "Master's wife has arrived. Everything should be perfect. You don’t just stand there, get the special mugs."
Both Karen and Roger were confused, but Roger soon caught up. "It must be what he heard the domestic manager saying to the staff."
Karen smiled and wished she could spend more time with Milo, but time was a luxury she couldn’t afford at the moment. Looking around, she could tell a lot of cleaning had gone on, but there was nobody in sight. "And where are they?"
"Gone. I thought you'd love the peace and quiet."
Karen nodded, grateful for it. "Thank you."
Roger led her to the garden, and she was amazed. There was food, but nothing heavy, just light snacks to keep her alert. There was a laptop, books for reference, a blanket, and everything else she would need to be comfortable.
Karen's eyes welled up with tears. She had been with Roger ninety-nine percent of the time, yet he still made arrangements without her knowing. “Thank you, Stallion,” she said and kissed him on the lips before throwing herself onto the couch.
For the rest of the day, they spent time in the garden, with Roger being a silent companion, not interrupting her in any way. Karen prepared for her exams peacefully, just as she had dreamt.
It was past midnight when she finally gave in to sleep, and Roger carried her upstairs. Two hours before her exams, he woke her up and helped her get ready in every way he could, saving her enough time for revision.
No matter how Karen looked at it, this was something no one had ever done for her before. "You know what, Stallion, having you look out for me isn't bad at all."
Roger wanted to ask if this meant she had accepted him for good, but decided to stick with the original plan. For the next two weeks, he stayed by her side, never sharing all the information he had gathered about Tonia.
All that mattered was for Karen to focus on her exams, and Roger only initiated light kisses here and there without any deep intimacy. To him, sex might tire her out.
After finishing her last paper, Karen was surprised to see her new family waiting for her at the car park.
"Mom, Dad, Delanie, and Declan?" Karen couldn't believe they had come to congratulate her, and the bouquets they brought were huge. She quickly embraced them in a group hug.
"Congratulations, Karen. Roger got busy and sent us to come," Giovanni informed after Karen pulled away, she sensed there was more. What could be more important to Roger than her?
Just as she was about to ask, a familiar figure appeared, completely ruining her mood.
