Chapter 355 Guess Who It Is

Chapter 355 Guess Who It Is

Although they knew Philip's disappearance was suspicious, there was no manpower in Finland - just a few limited staff members who couldn't really help.

For now, they could only wait for the results of the police investigation.

So Arabella and Alexander went back to the hotel first. The police would contact them immediately if there was any news.

Arabella couldn't understand how this could happen to Philip in a place like Finland where he didn't know a single person.

She couldn't help asking Alexander, "Alex, I'm not blaming you or doubting you, but I'm wondering - could it be that when Philip was handling the bad assets, he stepped on some local people's toes and got targeted by them?"

Alexander had asked the staff to steam some fruit and was now placing the plates on the table. Hearing this, he said, "It's possible. Philip came here to handle an old castle.

The castle owner had mortgaged it to someone else to get goods, but that batch of goods was a total loss, and the castle was never redeemed. After the FitzRoy Group's assessment, they thought they could buy the castle and redevelop it, so they sent Philip to handle this."

He was also puzzled. "If local people did this, the police should have some leads. The usual approach would be to leak information to us, to make us back off."

But the police hadn't leaked any information at all. Even when the staff deliberately tried to find out, they couldn't get any valuable information.

This was unusual.

Alexander actually had a suspect in mind, but he felt that person was now like a stray dog and shouldn't be capable of something like this.

So he didn't mention it to Arabella.

Arabella felt anxious and uneasy. Since she had slept the whole flight, she wasn't in the mood to rest now, but no matter how worried she was, without any news, she could only wait helplessly.

Until the next morning, when the police sent word that after searching for so long without finding anyone, they were closing the case.

When Arabella first heard this, she couldn't believe her ears. They were closing the case without finding the person?

The Finnish police's explanation was that either Philip never got in the car, or during the vehicle's fall, Philip caught fire and burned to ashes.

Arabella thought this reasoning was complete nonsense, especially the second part. What kind of fire could burn a person to ashes without affecting the people next to them, and without even leaving burn marks in the car?

But since the Finnish police decided they could close the case like this, there was nothing she could do, and even Alexander couldn't do anything.

Arabella was at a loss. "Alex, what should we do now? Philip came here perfectly fine and just disappeared like this. There has to be an explanation, right? We can't just go back like this, can we?"

Alexander comforted her, "Don't worry, I'm already contacting people. Tomorrow we'll meet with a local police officer. Before my people arrive, that officer will continue searching for traces of Philip."

Arabella still couldn't feel at ease. "So we're just going to keep waiting?"

Alexander was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Arabella, you should go back tomorrow."

Arabella quickly shook her head. "No, I'm not going back. Philip hasn't been found yet. At the very least, I need to know what happened to him, I need to know..."

Her eyes reddened and her voice choked up. "I need to know if he's dead or alive."

Alexander hugged her, holding her hands in his, and comforted her. "I'm here. I understand how you feel, but it's not safe here. Arabella, if what happened to Philip was deliberate, if it wasn't done by local Finns, who do you think did it?"

Arabella was stunned. "It wasn't done by locals?"

Alexander nodded. "We can basically rule that out. This morning I contacted a higher-level local leader, and they denied taking action against Philip. Besides, they really have no reason to do something like this over a castle."

Arabella suddenly felt a chill down her back and looked at Alexander in horror. "You mean..."

With Alexander's hint, she immediately thought of it.

Anthony.

The murderer on the run abroad, still not caught for several cases.

Alexander knew she'd figured it out and nodded. "Philip keeps a low profile and hasn't made enemies with anyone. Moreover, this is Finland - it's his first time here. If Anthony did this, it means one thing: he's not alone. There's at least a small organization helping him."

Arabella looked at Alexander in silence.

Yes, if Anthony really did this, that was the most terrifying part.

A fugitive on the run, with no ID, no income - how could he quietly come to Finland and make someone disappear without a trace?

Even Alexander had no leads for now.

This meant someone was helping him.

What would a murderous demon do next with helpers?

Arabella didn't dare to think about it, just as she didn't dare to think about Philip's current situation.

In the end, Arabella agreed to Alexander's arrangement. No matter how worried she was about Philip, she didn't want to be a burden here.

If she stayed, Alexander would be concerned about her and definitely couldn't act freely.

She believed that even if she goes back, Alexander would do everything he could to find Philip's whereabouts.

So that evening, she and Alexander parted ways, and she boarded the flight home escorted by three people.

At the same time, in an estate somewhere, Anthony received his monthly email as usual.

The email talked about the other party's progress - they had captured Philip, Becky was part of the plan, and once they had enough bargaining chips, he could use them to force Alexander to leave him a way out.

This was the path the email sender had planned for him.

Anthony dismissed this, but the sender's identity intrigued him. Who exactly was this person who had helped him repeatedly - from establishing a foothold overseas, to getting Rachel out, and now even his future freedom was in this person's plans?

But several times when he emailed asking about the sender's identity, they avoided the topic.
