Chapter 36 Episode Thirty Six
Chapter 36 Episode Thirty Six
Diana
That evening at the mansion I could barely focus on my chores. My mind kept drifting to what was going to happen later. To Calum's promise to be gentle
"You're distracted again," Madelyn said She was watching me with narrowed eyes "This is becoming a pattern"
"Sorry, just tired"
"Tired" She didn't look convinced "You've been tired a lot lately and you keep disappearing at odd hours"
My stomach dropped "I don't know what you mean"
"Don't you?" She crossed her arms.
"I've worked in this house for ten years Diana, I notice things"
"I'm just doing my job"
"Are you?" She stepped closer "Because it seems to me like you're doing more than just your job"
I didn't know what to say. She knew. Somehow she knew.
"I don't want to lose this position," I said quietly. "I need this job"
"Then maybe you should think about that before you do something stupid" She turned away. "I'm going to bed. Make sure everything is locked up before you retire"
"Yes ma'am"
She left and I stood there shaking. That was a warning. A clear warning.
I finished my duties and went upstairs. I should have gone to my room. Should have stayed away from Calum's room tonight.
But I found myself standing outside his door anyway.
I knocked softly.
"Come in"
I stepped inside and locked the door behind me. Calum was sitting on his bed. He stood when he saw me.
"I wasn't sure you'd come"
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Because you look scared"
I was scared. Scared of getting caught. Scared of losing everything. But more scared of being away from him.
"Madelyn knows something," I said. "She warned me tonight"
His expression darkened. "What did she say?"
"Just that she notices things. That I should be careful"
"Do you want to stop? We can stop if you're worried"
"No" The word came out too quickly. "I don't want to stop"
He walked over to me and cupped my face. "Then we'll be more careful. But I'm not giving you up Diana"
"I'm not asking you to"
He kissed me then. Soft and sweet at first. But it quickly turned heated.
His hands found the buttons of my uniform and started undoing them. I helped him push it off my shoulders. Then my bra. Then everything else until I was standing there completely bare.
"Beautiful," he breathed. "Every time I see you I can't believe you're real"
He lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He carried me to the bed and laid me down gently.
This time was different from last night. Slower. More tender.
He kissed every inch of my skin. Took his time exploring my body. Building the pleasure gradually instead of rushing.
When he finally entered me I was ready. It still hurt a little but not as bad as before.
"Okay?" he asked.
"Yes"
He moved slowly. Each thrust careful and measured. Watching my face for any sign of pain.
But there was no pain. Just pleasure that built with each movement.
"Calum"
"I know baby. I feel it too"
His pace increased. The bed creaked beneath us. I wrapped my legs around him and pulled him deeper.
The pleasure crested and I came apart in his arms. He followed moments later with a groan.
We lay there tangled together afterwards. Both breathing hard.
"Stay with me," he said.
"I can't. Not tonight. Not with Madelyn suspicious"
"Then I'll set an alarm. Wake you before dawn"
I wanted to argue. But being in his arms felt too good.
"Okay. But just for a few hours"
He set an alarm on his phone and pulled me close. I rested my head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat.
"Diana?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you"
My breath caught. He'd said it before but hearing it again made my chest tight.
"I love you too"
We fell asleep like that. Wrapped up in each other.
The alarm went off at four in the morning. I groaned and tried to ignore it.
"Time to go baby," Calum said softly.
"Five more minutes"
"You said that last time. Come on"
I forced myself out of bed and got dressed. Calum walked me to the door.
"Tonight?" he asked.
"We can't do this every night. It's too risky"
"Then when?"
"I don't know. We'll figure it out"
He kissed me one more time. "Be careful today"
"You too"
I slipped back to my room just as the sky was starting to lighten. I fell into my bed and was asleep instantly.
What felt like seconds later my alarm was going off for real. Time to get up and start the day.
I dragged myself through my morning routine. My body ached in the best way. A reminder of what we'd done.
At campus I tried to focus on my classes. But everywhere I went I felt like people were staring. Like they knew somehow.
I was walking to lunch when I saw Selene and her minions ahead. They were huddled together whispering.
When Selene saw me she smiled. It wasn't a friendly smile.
"Diana," she called out. "Just the person I wanted to see"
I tried to walk past her but her minions blocked my path.
"We need to talk," Selene said.
"I have nothing to say to you"
"Oh I think you do" She pulled out her phone. "Because I have something very interesting to show you"
She turned the phone toward me and my blood ran cold.
It was a photo. Of me leaving Calum's room early this morning.
"Where did you get that?" I whispered.
"Doesn't matter" Her smile was vicious. "What matters is what I'm going to
do with it"
My world started spinning. This was it. This was how everything fell apart.
"What do you want?"
"Oh Diana," Selene laughed. "I want to watch you burn"
