Chapter Twenty Seven
Diana’s POV
…I watched him walk away before I headed inside the class room. I found a seat immediately and pulled out my notebook but I couldn’t shake the feeling that agreeing to go to that party was a mistake, like, what if something goes wrong there and I can’t control it, or worse… Calum finds out and gets really mad? He’s seemed really protective lately
Wait…what if Selene was there? Goddess! That would be beyond terrible
Nah! I don’t think she would, Kieran wouldn't even invite her to the party in the first place, he made it clear that he didn’t like her
And Calum wouldnt mind at all, he’s not that insecure
With these thoughts, I continued with my activities, cancelling out any possibility that this might be a bad idea
The rest of the day passed in a blur. I went to Calum’s photography class and tried not to stare at him too much, but that was exceptionally hard when he kept glancing at me with those heated looks that made me squirm in my seat, I could only hope that no one suspected a single thing
After the class ended he asked me to stay behind like he always did. But this time when everyone left he didn’t say anything. He just looked at me
“What?” I asked, feeling heat slowly creep up to my face
“You look beautiful today” he said with a smile
I felt my face went into flames “Stop it”but I didn’t really want him to
“I’m serious, I’ve been thinking about you all day and was barely able to focus on literally anything” I laughed at this, my heart swelling with happiness
He really did know how to make me smile, but…
“You need to stop looking at me like that in class though, people are not blind, neither are they dumb, and they might start to notice”
“Let them notice” He walked around his desk and leaned against it “I’m tired of hiding this anyway..”
“Calum….”
“I know I know, we have to be careful” He ran a hand through his hair “But it’s getting harder every day to pretend you don’t mean anything to me”
My heart squeezed “You mean a lot to me too” I said, my voice coming out as something barely more than a whisper
“Do I?”
“Yes. More than I probably should admit”
He smiled and it was the kind of smile that made my knees weak “Come here”
I walked over to him and he pulled me between his legs. His hands settling on my hips as he looked up at me
All I could see was the admiration and love…the fact that he adored me and truly meant all that he said
No matter how long, I don’t think I can get used to the fact that someone actually cared deeply about me
“I want to take you somewhere this weekend,” he said, brushing a strand of my hair backwards, the smile still gracing his lips
“Where?” I was already having a feeling this was about to go sideways
Weekend? Kieran already asked me to come to his party, I couldn’t possibly be there and with Calum at the same time
“It’s a surprise, just you and me…away from all of this”
“I…I can’t, I already agreed to go to a party”
That wasn’t the best ways to even tell him, but I’d just blurted it out anyway
His expression changed, the smile slowly disappearing “What party?”
“Um…Kieran invited me, he’s having some friends over at his place”
“Kieran” The way he said the name made it clear he wasn’t happy “You’re going to his house?”
“Yeah, for the party” I responded and watched as his jaw clenched and unclench
“You’re going to another man’s house”
Seriously? Is that all he could pick from this
I sighed frustratedly
“It’s just a party Calum, relax” I said, coming closer but he moved back and went back to his seat
“I don’t want you going” what?
“You can’t tell me what to do..” I shot back, feeling a sudden bit of anger rising in my chest
“Well, I’m not telling you, I’m asking you. Please don’t go” he said
“But why? Give me one good reason”
“Because he likes you Diana. And I don’t like the idea of you being at his place without me there”
“He’s just a friend, I’ve told you so many times…you know you’re just being jealous again”
“Yes I am” He stood up, came back to me and his hands moved to frame my face “Because you’re mine and I don’t want other men thinking they have a chance with you”
“If that’s the case, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about…nobody stands a chance, I’m with you”
“Then don’t go to that party”
I wanted to agree. I wanted to cancel on Kieran and spend the weekend with Calum instead
But something inside me rebelled against the idea of him controlling where I went and who I spent time with
“I already said I would go, I can’t back out now, please understand” I pouted
His jaw clenched “Fine, then I’m coming with you”
“What? No way”
“Why not? You said it was just friends hanging out. I can be a friend”
“Calum that’s a terrible idea and yoh know it”
“I don’t care, mama” he said and brushed loose strands of hair from my face “If you’re going then I’m going” His eyes flashed “Those are your options Diana. Either we both go or neither of us goes”
I stared at him, there’s no way he was serious, no way he would really would show up at that party if I went without him
“You’re being ridiculous”
“Maybe, but I meant what I said”
“You belong to me, and I’m not letting you go to another man’s house alone”
Part of me wanted to argue and tell him he was being controlling and unreasonable
But another part of me loved how possessive he was being. How much he clearly wanted me
“Fine,” I said “We’ll both go, but you have to promise to behave”
“I make no promises”
He kissed me then and I forgot why I was annoyed with him in the first place.
When we finally broke apart I was breathless and dizzy
“I have to go,” I said “Before someone comes looking for us”
“I know” He kissed me one more time “I’ll see you at home”
“See you at home”
I left his classroom and walked toward the exit with my mind racing
Definitely Claum has no plans of coming with me…maybe he was just testinf to see how far I’ll be willing to go
Right?
Wrong
