Chapter 227 I Am Very Angry
Chapter 227 I Am Very Angry
Sean calmly pulled his hand out from Susan's clothes, straightened her shirt, and said casually, "Mommy's tired from work today. Daddy's giving her a massage."
Liam tilted his head, his big eyes darting around. He lowered the hands covering his eyes. "A massage? I want to give Mommy one too!"
He came running over and pressed his little hands onto Susan's shoulders.
Susan was trying to hold back a smile, about to tell him what a sweet boy he was, when Sean grabbed the back of Liam's collar and lifted him up like a kitten.
"What do you think you're doing? Kids don't know their own strength. What if you hurt Mommy?"
Liam's little legs kicked wildly in the air. He looked just like a tiny kitten being picked up by the scruff of its neck.
"No I won't! I'll be gentle! Daddy, put me down!" Liam yelled, his face turning red, his little hands clawing at Sean's fingers, trying to free his collar.
Sean didn't budge. He carried him toward the kids' room. "It's getting late. Little kids need to go to sleep."
"I don't want to sleep! I want to give Mommy a massage!" Liam struggled even harder, twisting around in Sean's grip like a fish out of water.
Sean set him down on the little bed. Liam immediately scrambled up and tried to bolt for the door.
Sean stretched out one arm and pushed him back down, pinning him to the bed with one hand so he couldn't move.
"Stay put and go to sleep." Sean's voice was calm but left no room for argument.
Liam sat on the bed, his lips quivering, his eyes going red.
Sean stood there with his arms crossed, watching him. The standoff between father and son had officially begun.
Liam's eyes got redder and redder, his lip trembled more and more, and then he burst out crying.
Susan heard the crying and came right over.
"What's going on?" she asked, pulling Liam into her arms and patting his back.
Liam wrapped his arms around her neck and sobbed. "Mommy... Daddy wouldn't let me... give you a massage... and he was mean to me... and he picked me up and it hurt so much..."
Susan patted his back to comfort him, then shot Sean a look. "Why are you picking fights with a little kid?"
Sean leaned against the doorframe, watching Liam with a half-smile.
He knew his son too well. The little guy was young, but he was sharp and a total drama king.
"Liam, give it a rest."
Liam's crying paused for a second, then got even louder, so loud Sean's ears were ringing.
Sean walked over and crouched down by the bed, reaching out to pinch Liam's wet little cheeks. "Cut it out. I know you're faking."
Susan pulled him back to get a good look at his face.
Liam blinked, managed to squeeze out two actual tears, and said with a pitiful look, "Mommy, Daddy's being unfair to me."
"Unfair?" Sean almost laughed despite himself. He reached over and pulled Liam out of Susan's arms and started tickling him.
Liam burst into giggles, rolling all over the bed, dodging and begging for mercy.
Susan watched the two of them going at it and couldn't help laughing.
These two. Both equally ridiculous.
After a good while, Liam was laughing so hard his stomach hurt. He flopped onto the bed, out of breath.
Sean patted his little bottom. "Alright. Time to sleep."
Liam rolled over and pouted. "Daddy's mean. He doesn't let kids have anything."
"With a sneaky little kid like you, I can't afford to." Sean said without hesitation, reaching over to ruffle his hair until it was a complete mess.
Liam huffed and turned away, his little back radiating pure "I am very upset."
Susan sat down on the edge of the bed and gently stroked his hair, her voice soft but serious. "Liam, Mommy wants to talk to you about something."
Liam turned to look at her, his big eyes still glistening from the tears he'd laughed out earlier.
"You wanted to give Mommy a massage because you care about me, and that makes Mommy really happy," Susan said. "But you can't lie. Lying is wrong. When you fake cry to trick Mommy, it makes Mommy sad."
Liam's expression turned serious.
He'd known since he was little that Mommy never lied to him. So he couldn't lie to her either.
"Mommy, I understand. I won't lie anymore."
"Good boy." Susan leaned down and kissed his forehead.
Liam grabbed her arm and said sweetly, "Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?"
Susan's heart melted completely. "Okay."
Liam cheered and scooted over to make room for her.
Susan lay down beside him, and Liam snuggled up against her like a little koala, tucking his head into her arms and holding on tight.
Sean stood by the bed watching the two of them, a strange look on his face.
"What about me?"
"You go sleep in your own room," Susan said without even looking up.
Sean's eye twitched.
Liam poked his head out from Susan's arms and made a face at Sean. "Good night, Daddy! Don't forget to close the door!"
The smugness in his voice was enough to drive anyone crazy.
Sean stared at this ungrateful little traitor, took a deep breath, and walked out.
He went to the living room, sat down on the couch, picked up his phone to check the time, then put it back down.
After about half an hour, figuring Liam must be asleep by now, Sean quietly made his way to the kids' room door, grabbed the handle, and pressed it down.
Click. The handle didn't move.
Sean froze. He tried again. Still nothing.
He tried once more, just to be sure. The door was definitely locked from the inside.
He got his key and unlocked it, then pushed. The door barely moved.
He tried shouldering it open. The door didn't budge, just made a dull thud.
Obviously, that little brat had pushed something up against it.
Sean stood at the door, somewhere between annoyed and amused.
He pushed hard and slowly got it open a crack, reached his hand in, moved the stool out of the way, and squeezed himself inside.
In the kids' room, the little nightlight on the headboard was still on, casting a warm glow across the bed.
Susan was lying on her side, already asleep. Her breathing was slow and steady, one hand resting on the pillow, the other held in Liam's grip.
Liam was curled up against her, fast asleep, his mouth slightly open, his long lashes casting tiny shadows on his cheeks.
Sean stood by the bed and watched them for a moment, then leaned down and carefully lifted Liam out of Susan's arms.
