Chapter 39 Back Home

Chapter 39 Back Home
Lana's POV

We landed in Seattle and I forced myself to get off the private jet because it felt like I left my heart in New York. As the tears welled up in my eyes, I blinked them away. My dad put our bags in his car and then we drove home. I didn't want to talk because I just wasn't in the mood. If I had to just say something, then I would've cried.

Opening the door to the house for the very first time since I left, I could hear my younger siblings arguing and I took in a deep breath. As I walked inside, they hugged me. "Where is mom?" I asked.

"In the kitchen," Weston called out. Apparently, he was named after my late grandfather.

I went to the kitchen. My mother was preparing dinner which she had improved over the years as my father taught her. She hates to cook. "Mom," I said, but I was feeling nauseous. I wanted to get out of the kitchen.

"Hi, I'm glad you are home," she beamed with a huge smile on her face as she made her way over to me. She was still so beautiful. I wanted to be like my mom, the way she looked with makeup and everything. The talent definitely came from her too. She embraced me in her arms and I closed my eyes just feeling her motherly love. She pulled away and cupped my face. "How are you?" she had concern on her face.

" I'm not okay but I'm hanging on. I feel sick too, so I want to go to my room," I said.

"Sure, we will catch up later," she said with a smile.

I went upstairs to my bedroom, my bags were already in my room. My room was still the same as when I last left it. I still had the sketches on the walls and my desk was neat. I sat on my bed and I just tried to forget about everything. I took my phone because I haven't looked at it since I left New York. I had tons of missed calls and texts from Arden. I should perhaps block his number, but part of me didn't want to do that.

These emotions are still too raw and I need a clear mind to think about everything. I placed my phone on my bedside table and I closed my eyes but I saw Arden's face. Its like he was haunting me. Eventually, darkness took over me.

I was shaken awake, "Dinner is ready," my mom said.

"I will be right there," I said, and then my mother walked out of my bedroom. The sun had already set.

I got up and I went to the kitchen. It was only my mother, my dad, and my three younger siblings. I sat down next to Mason. "Where is Jordan?" I asked.

'He went away with his football team. He enjoys it a lot," my mother said. I dished the food on my plate, but I felt nauseous. I took a deep breath as I just stared at the food, my fork in my hand.

"Lana, are you okay?" My mother asked and I caught my dad looking at me suspiciously as his empty fork was paused in mid air form his mouth.

But then bile rose and the fork dropped on my plate as I covered my mouth and I got up so fast from my seat, knocking the chair over and I hurried up the stairs. Why is the bathroom upstairs? Ugh. I made it just in time to the bathroom and my stomach convulsed. I hate this morning sickness.

After I was done in the bathroom, I went to lay down on my bed instead and then my mother walked inside with a bowl. "Please, mom, no more food," I said with disgust.

" It's fruit. Your father told me to let you eat this," she said as she sat down on my bed and she handed the bowl of fruit to me. I sat up straight and I took it from her.

"Are you okay?" she asked with concern.

"No," I replied.

"I know that what happened was hard but it will feel like you cannot move on for a while. Your father and I went through it all. He was best friends with my dad and I have always had a crush on your dad since I was twelve years old. We sneaked around when I started to work for him, but what broke my heart was the fact that your father was engaged and I didn't know," I was sure that my eyes were huge. I was shocked to hear this.

"Dad was engaged while you were both dating?" I asked.

"Yes, he kept it from me. I found out the hard way. One night, my father invited your dad over for dinner and then he came over with a blonde. I sat with them at the same dinner table and then that is how it came out. I was shattered. It was as if nothing would've helped me to move on from that shattered place. I always wanted your dad. Eventually, I went away for two months and I healed. I came back and eventually we got back together again. Things happened with his fiance at the time. It was a set-up thing, but your father and I always managed to find our way back to each other. I fell pregnant with you and then my dad caught us. He was a violent man when he got angry and, since then, I have had complications with you during my pregnancy. People tried to keep us apart but they couldn't," she said.

"That is a mouthful," I replied.

"All I'm saying is that things will get better and if you are both meant to be, then it will be," she said.

"He has a son and an ex-wife. His son needs his parents. I can't stand in the way of that," I said as I looked down at the fruit.

"You can still be together and be there for his son. He is divorced and if you both love each other so much then you will be a great stepmother to his son," she said.

I took a deep breath. "I don't know."

"Well, your dad suspects that perhaps you could be pregnant," I looked at her so quickly with wide eyes.

"I'm not," I lied. I don't want anyone to know until I have made the best decision.

"Well, eat something. I do hope that the fruit helps. It helped me," she smiled and she got up.

I started to eat the fruit as my mother left my bedroom. I have to make a decision fast before it is too late and this baby grows by the day.
