Chapter 65 THE WARNING

Chapter 65 THE WARNING

LILA'S POV
Adrain was still here.

Adrian closed the door behind us. It was only me with him, alone in the room.

I stood near the table, my hands resting at the edge watching him cautiously.

He stepped closer, slowly.
“Last chance to tell me to stop,” he said, voice low.

“Adrian… if I wanted you to stop, I would’ve walked away long ago.” I said as my breath slowed.

He reached for me , his fingers tilting my jaw upwards. I  leaned into his touch,  my eyes half-closed, as his warmth pulled me deeper into him.

Our lips met again , slowly like we were learning how to kiss, slowly exploring each other's mouth..

My fingers slid to his shoulders, gripping him lightly, pulling him closer.
“Why do you look at me like that?” I whispered.

“Because you make it impossible not to,” he murmured against my skin.

I swallowed,my  heart pounding so hard he could feel it through me.
“You’re going to ruin me,” I breathed.

He smiled softly. “Maybe I’m already ruined for you.”

My breath trembled. His hands moved to my  waist, drawing me into him. I let my forehead rest against his chest, grounding myself…

There was no rush.

I looked up at him, “Stay with me tonight,”i said quietly.

He cupped my  cheek, brushing his thumb across my lip.
“I’m already here.”

I exhaled shakily, leaning into him once more as his arms wrapped around me.

ADRIAN'S POV

I’d barely slept.

Blade’s betrayal had pierced through me,it cracked something open inside the organization, we had enemies and now they were crawling out like insects smelling blood.

Santiago was rattled. Kane was pacing. Viper barely spoke a word.

But the true problem was this:
I knew someone out there would come for us.

We weren't prepared for an attack.

My thoughts were cut.

Kane burst into my office without knocking.

“Adrian,this is bad.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Worse than the last twelve hours?”

He tossed a small black device onto my table. A phone.

“It was delivered at the gate,” he said. “No name. No prints.”

Blade had caused more harm than good. I would have kept him alive at least to ask him who he sold us to.

A video started playing.

It showed some men near our basement with Blade.

I haven't seen them before,I didn't know their mission.

All I knew was that they were threats.

Our life's were at stake.

I needed to act as fast as possible to take what I want and get the hell out of this town.

They traced every CCTV round, and broke it.

The worse part, they sent the video while doing it,no eyes covered,no black clothes.

No nothing.

We tried to trace them but no avail.

They were armed,way armed.

Very prepared,unlike us.

Lila wasn't with me, possibly she could be in the room I gave her, doing nothing.

My jaw tightened. “When was this recorded?”

“Thirty minutes ago.”

I was already standing, grabbing my jacket.

Kane blocked the doorway. “Adrian, think. This is a trap. They want you to react. They could be out there.”

“And I will,” I said coldly. “Just not the way they expect.”

“Lila.”

“Adrian? It’s late.”

“Where are you?”

“In my room. Why?”

“Lock the door.”

“…Adrian, what’s going on?”

“Just do it.”

I heard her footsteps speeding up,she was coming to meet me.

She looked at me halfway, scanning through the other guys around.

“Something's going on.” I cut the silence.

“What's that.”

“Someone filmed us,they know our hideout. It won't be long before they attack.”

“Filmed here? For what?”

“Everything blade did.”

I didn’t tell her the rest. She didn’t need extra fear.

“ We are going out to find somewhere safe for us all. Just go in and lock up.You don’t open the door to anyone but me.”

“Adrian.”

“It’s not up for debate.”

She exhaled shakily. But she didn’t argue.

“ I'm coming with you.” She said.
I looked at her awkwardly.

“Yes,” she said. “I’m coming.”

In the car, Viper sat beside me at the left side, Lila at the right scrolling through footage from the area near the café.

“Whoever did this wants us dead,” he said. “He’s trained.”

“Not Santiago’s people. They’re never this subtle.”

“No,” Viper agreed. “This feels like a warning shot.”

“I feel like it's connected to Damian.” I gave my shot.

“Why do you think so?” Lila asked.

“ From the looks of this. We don't know, but Blade could have told him.”

“Are they connected somehow?” Another question.

I remembered the answer.

“Yes!, yes!. Fuck. How did I not know or remember or thought. Lila you are the very best.” I said fastly, pecking her cheeks.
“ He was once his servant.”

“And you hired him.” They all asked in unison.
The guys could only stare at me in disgust.

“I'm useful guys.” She blushed, teasingly.
“No telling me what to do again.”

“I have a diamond. Of what use is a gold.” I said. I guess she didn't understand.

But my guys did,they chuckled.

Perfect timing.

“Pull over guys.” I told the driver. Kane.

He pulled over.

We went to get some drinks, and possibly smoke too.
