Chapter 61 PHASE TWO
ADRAIN
The second chambers below our basement were normally quiet,I had some men there, they were talking, very loud.
“Agreed, everyone?” Blade asked.
They all nodded in unison.
I could only watch.
“Planned everything already?” She caught me off guard, pressing her body in mine.
“You know me well.” I replied smoothly. My mind was half on her, half on my plan. I couldn't fail,or life will be lost.
“What if something goes wrong?” She asked,as if she was reading my mind.
“I won't accept any negative comment” I sighed.
“You don't know them, enough to spy on them not to talk of this outrageous plan of yours. Your men aren't much incase something goes wrong, you'll lose.” she said without looking at me directly in the eyes.
Lila is her name,we were neighbors for a long while.
We weren't friend but I've come in contact with her once, that was when I had my birthday but no one showed up,none of my friends came so I decided to share my cake among my neighbor which included her.
I didn't know her much but the little I know is that she's smart brave, well doing, doesn't care about other people's feeling.
She was on the run recently, due to her actions on her best friend,I agreed to take her in.
Back to business,I had nothing in common with Damian. I am a robber or an assassinany one is good. We rob them or their loved one,ask for a huge ransom or we try different strategies to get their money.
Lord Santiago gave me this Job,he told me he was a well doing man, with a lot of investment.
We need a spy,my men are no march for him.
“Problem?” Lila asked me,while I was scrolling through my tablet.
“ Huge distraction. Can you please go back to what you were doing?” I asked,my eyes widening.
“I didn't mean to offend you. I'm here doing nothing. I'm still on the run,I mean I can't go to my studio and work, will you have me lazy around here while I could be of great help to you?” she asked, her face like that of a cute baby, patting me.
I crossed my arms looking at her. “What do you want to do or think you can do?”
“You have to tell me who your target is,” she replied.
“If I tell you, you won't help me, that's my shit.” I saddened my face.
“That's not the answer.” I answered.
“Lila,” I called her name out.
“All ears, tell me…”
“It's Damian.”
She gave me the judgy face, slowly it turned to a mocking laughter.
I didn't laugh in unison,I just stared.
“You are indeed very funny, you know he's tied to me. Was that why you hesitated?”
“I don't want to be your problem neither do I want you to be mine.” I told her.
“You are helping me,I should still be useful. Don't you think so?” She said slowly, came closer, our tension grew faster.
It was a miss miss, nearly would we have kissed.
“So what if I do a good job, Mister?” She trailer her hands down her chest, biting her lips.
“What do you need?” She asked.
ADRAIN:“A spy.”
Lila: “I should spy. It'll be a little hard.”
Adrain:“That's why I don't need you helping.”
Lila:“You say that again, you'll receive five rounds.”
Adrain:“Always my pleasure baby.” i smirked.
“Adrian, you’re… dangerous,” Lila said softly, almost in awe.
“And you love it,” I countered, without looking at her.
She laughed lightly, tension easing from her shoulders.
Setting my plan paper on the table.
I spread the plan papers across the table, the lines and markings forming a map I intended to unleash. Every detail mattered. My men were ready, but only barely.
A misstep could turn them into liabilities. That’s why I needed precision, focus, and a mind sharp enough to foresee the unexpected.
“You sure you want to do this?” Lila asked, leaning slightly over the table.“This isn’t a child’s game. One mistake, and it’s over.”
She raised a brow. “Transport routes? For what?”
“For his investment shipments,” I replied. “He has three moving this week. One tonight. If we intercept it, even for thirty minutes, the families will panic. Santiago said we should create fear before the real blow.”
Lila leaned forward. “So, we’re not attacking Damian himself.”
“Not yet,” I said. “We need him destabilized. Distracted.”
She hummed, nodding slowly. “Okay… So how many men do you have on the route?”
“Six,” I answered.
She snapped her head toward me. “Six? Adrian, that route has double security. Damian increased manpower after last month’s threats. You’re sending six men into twelve armed guards.”
“It's not like they're going to fight. Just delay.” I replied.
“How?” she pressed.
I pointed at the smaller square on the map.
“A blockade. Two vehicles here and here. We force the truck to turn into the narrow road on the right. Blade and Kross will take out the cameras. No footage, no trail.”
“And the guards?” she asked.
“We use sound charges. Not explosives just noise disruptors. They stun the guards long enough to access the truck.”
She stared at me for a long moment. “You got those from Santiago?”
“Yes,” I said. “They won’t cause injuries. Just disorientation.”
Lila sighed. “This still sounds risky. What are you exactly taking from the shipment?”
“Nothing,” I said.
Her eyes widened. “Nothing?”
“ We just plant a tracker. The real move is later.” I said.
“Ooh”
“Exactly”
She crossed her arms. “And what do you need me for?”
I circled another point on the map, the café across from Damian’s office.
“You’ll be here. Watching his reactions. Recording who he calls. I need to know his weak links .”
“But what if he doesn’t leave his office?” she asked.
“He will,” I said confidently.
She stared at me quietly.
“Adrian… this isn’t just robbery. This is war.”
“It became war the moment Santiago got involved.”
She sighed, leaning on the table. “You know, you should’ve just told me this from the start. I thought you were going to do something stupid like storm in with guns.”
“I’m not a fool,” I said sharply.
“I didn’t say you were,” she replied. “But this plan… it needs someone who thinks. Carefully.”
She paused, then nodded.
“Okay. I’ll spy. I’ll watch his movements. I’ll bring you every detail.”
“But,” she added, lifting a finger, “if things go wrong, we pull back. Agreed?”
I shook my head. “We only pull back if when we die.”
She scoffed. “You’re impossible.”
“And you talk too much,” I countered.
Lila rolled her eyes and grabbed the
map. “Fine. I’ll do it. But Adrian?”
“What?”
“If you’re wrong about this plan… we’re both in trouble.”
I looked her dead in the eyes.
“No. If I’m wrong… everyone is.”
