Chapter 79

The sterile hospital room was filled with the soft beeping of machines and the faint scent of antiseptic. Victoria lay weak in the hospital bed, her pale face drawn with exhaustion. Christian sat beside her, his hand clasping hers tightly as he listened intently to her words.

"Christian, I need to tell you something that Anna said to me when she was here last night ," Victoria began, her voice barely above a whisper. Christian looked at her, concern etched into his features.

"What did she say, Victoria?" he asked softly.

Victoria took a deep breath, mustering up all of her strength. "She said...she said that she suspected you of poisoning me," she said, her words hanging heavily in the air.

Christian's eyes widened in shock. "What? That's ridiculous! Why would she think that?" he exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief.

"I don't know, Christian. But I think you and Serena were right all along. I think Anna is a fake," Victoria said, her voice trembling slightly. "I mean, why would she accuse you of trying to harm me? What could her motive be for trying to turn us against each other?"

Christian sat back in his chair, his mind racing. Anna had always been the perfect sister, always looking out for Victoria and caring for her. But now, faced with Victoria's words, he couldn't shake the feeling of doubt that crept into his mind.

"I don't know, Victoria. This doesn't make any sense," Christian said, his brow furrowed in thought. "But I promise you, I will get to the bottom of this. I will find out the truth."

Victoria nodded weakly, a small smile playing on her lips. "Thank you, Christian. I trust you to uncover the truth."

As Christian left the hospital room, his mind whirled with thoughts and questions. What could Anna's motive be for trying to harm Victoria? Was she really the loving sister she appeared to be, or was there something more sinister at play?

Determined to get to the bottom of it, Christian decided to go look for Anna at home. When Anna saw Christian her face fell at the sight of him standing there.

"Christian, what are you doing here, is Victoria okay?" Anna asked, her voice tinged with surprise.

"I need to talk to you, Anna. It's about Victoria," Christian said, his tone serious.

Anna's eyes widened in alarm. "What about her? Is she okay?" she asked, concern flooding her features.

"She's in the hospital, Anna, how could she be okay? And she told me something that you said to her," Christian said, his gaze piercing into Anna's.

Anna paled at his words, her hands trembling slightly. "What did she say, Christian?" she asked, fear flickering in her eyes.

"She said that you suspected me of poisoning her, Anna. Is that true?" Christian asked, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and hurt.

Anna's eyes darted away from his gaze, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. "I...I don't know what you're talking about, Christian. I would never accuse you of such a thing," she stammered.

Christian narrowed his eyes, his suspicions growing stronger. "Then why would Victoria say that? What could her motive be for lying about you?" he pressed, his voice cold.

Anna's mask slipped for a brief moment, a flicker of panic crossing her features before she composed herself. "I don't know, Christian. Maybe she's confused, or delirious from the medication," she said, her voice steady but her eyes betraying her fear.

Christian studied her carefully, his gut telling him that there was more to Anna's words than met the eye. "I don't believe you, Anna. I think you know more than you're letting on. And I will find out the truth, no matter what," he said, his voice firm.

As he turned to leave, Anna's hand shot out to grab his arm. "Christian, please. I swear to you, I had nothing to do with this. Please believe me," she pleaded, her eyes filled with desperation.

But Christian ripped his arm away, his mind made up. He would uncover the truth, no matter what obstacles lay in his path. Who ever that was trying to harm his wife was going to pay with their life.

Later that night Christian went back home to find that Anna was not around, He snuck into her room and rummaged through her belongings until he found a lock of her hair. Carefully, he placed it in a plastic bag and made his way to the DNA testing lab.

As he waited anxiously for the results, Christian's mind raced with possibilities. What if Anna was a fraud? What if she had been manipulating Victoria this whole time? The thought sent shivers down his spine.

Finally, the results came back. Christian's hands shook as he read the report. Anna was not Victoria's sister. She was an imposter. His suspicions had been confirmed.

But what shocked him even more was the revelation that Anna had tampered with the first paternity test. She had gone to great lengths to deceive Victoria and everyone else around her. The complexity of her deception left Christian in a state of disbelief.

Christian's hands trembled with rage as he stood in the middle of the living room, staring at the empty space where Anna should have been. How could she have disappeared so quickly? He cursed himself for not keeping a closer eye on her, for letting her weasel her way into his family's life and wreak havoc.

He paced back and forth, his mind racing with thoughts of revenge. Anna had played him for a fool, pretending to be Victoria's estranged sister when in reality she was nothing but a conniving fraud. And now, she had crossed a line by poisoning his beloved wife. Christian's blood boiled at the memory of Victoria lying pale and lifeless in the hospital bed. He vowed to make Anna pay for her deception and cruelty.

He grabbed his phone and dialed Colin's number, his voice low and threatening. "Dispatch everyone," he ordered. "Anna is not to skip town. We will find her and make her pay for what she's done."

Colin, always loyal to Christian, assured him that he would mobilize the entire team to track down Anna. Christian hung up the phone and began searching the house for any clues that might lead to her whereabouts. But all he found were empty rooms and silence.

He remembered the first time he had met Anna, her innocent smile and soft voice. She had seemed so kind and caring, a perfect match for Victoria's sister. But now, he saw her for what she truly was – a wicked manipulator who had infiltrated his family and caused nothing but pain and heartache.

As the hours passed with no sign of Anna, Christian's anger grew into a simmering rage. He couldn't believe how easily she had slipped through their fingers, leaving behind nothing but a trail of lies and deceit. He vowed to do whatever it took to find her and make her pay for her crimes.

Time went by, and still there was no sign of Anna. Christian grew restless, haunted by the memory of Victoria's pale face in the hospital bed. He couldn't shake the feeling that Anna was out there, laughing at them from the shadows.

On the other hand Victoria was getting worse at the hospital and Anna was the only one who probably had the antidote.
