Chapter 73

Three months had passed since the incident at the company that had left Anna emotionally scarred. The betrayal by her coworker, Lily, had cut deep and Anna found it difficult to trust anyone at work. Despite Lily’s insistence that Anna was in the wrong, She claimed that Anna was behind everything, Victoria knew the truth. She had seen how manipulative Lily could be and was certain that Anna had been set up.

As they sat in the living room, sipping on cups of tea, Anna recounted the events that had transpired that fateful day. Lily had somehow managed to frame Anna for a mistake that she didn’t commit, causing Anna to almost loose her job, It was a blow to Anna’s reputation and it had taken a toll on her mental health.

“I just don’t understand why she would do something like that, all the while pretending to be my friend” Anna said, her voice tinged with frustration.

“Because she’s threatened by you,” Victoria replied, placing a comforting hand on Anna’s shoulder. “You’re a hard worker and you don’t play into her games. She sees you as a threat and she’s trying to bring you down.”

Anna sighed, feeling a mix of anger and sadness wash over her. She had always tried to be kind and fair to her coworkers, but it seemed that Lily had a vendetta against her for some reason. Despite the injustice of it all, Anna knew that she had to push through and continue to do her job to the best of her abilities.

Over the next few weeks, Anna threw herself into her work, determined to prove to everyone that she was not the person that Lily had painted her out to be. Victoria watched with pride as her sister excelled in her duties, even with the lingering cloud of suspicion hanging over her head.

One evening, as Anna was getting ready to leave work, she received a text from Lily. It simply said, “I know what you did.” Anna’s heart raced as she read the message, wondering what Lily was implying. She quickly brushed it off, telling herself that Lily was just trying to get under her skin.

But as the days went by, strange things began happening at work. Files went missing, important emails were deleted, and Anna’s coworkers started turning against her again. It seemed as though someone was actively trying to sabotage her. Anna confided in Victoria, who immediately urged her to speak to Colin about the situation.

When Anna finally mustered up the courage to ask Colin to help her investigate, she was met with disbelief and skepticism. He didn’t want to believe that someone in his team could be capable of such underhanded tactics. Anna felt defeated, unsure of what to do next.

Victoria, sensing her sister’s despair, knew that they had to take matters into their own hands. Together, they decided to conduct their own investigation into the mysterious occurrences at the company still with the help of Colin, Victoria didn’t want to disturb her husband over something that may not even need his attention.

Anna and Colin stayed late into the night, going through emails, surveillance footage, and any other clues that they could find. Victoria had a company to run and children to take care of so she couldn’t watch the footage with them.

As they dug deeper, they uncovered a web of deception that led them straight to Lily. She had been working with a disgruntled ex-employee who had been hired to do Anna’s job behind her back. It was a twisted scheme to take down Anna and ensure her failure at the company.

Armed with this new information, Anna and Colin presented their findings to Christian who was shocked by the betrayal. Lily was promptly fired, and the ex-employee was barred from ever working at the company again. Anna felt a sense of vindication wash over her, knowing that she had been exonerated and justice had been served. She regretted letting Lily off the last time.

As she got home from work that night, Victoria squeezed Anna’s hand and smiled. “I’m so proud of you, sis. You never gave up, even when things seemed hopeless. You’re a fighter, and you deserve all the success in the world.”

Victoria looked at her sister with pride and admiration. Anna had proven once again that she was a force to be reckoned with, and Victoria knew that she would always have her back, no matter what challenges lay ahead.

Every evening, after a long day at work, Victoria and Anna would sit down together and chat over cups of tea. Anna had developed a talent for making the perfect cuppa, and Victoria looked forward to that moment of relaxation and bonding with her sister. As they sipped on their tea, they would talk about their day, share stories and secrets, and laugh together.

Victoria loved these moments with Anna. It was during these quiet evenings that she felt closest to her sister, and she cherished every second of it. She admired Anna’s strength and resilience, and she was grateful for the unwavering support and love that her sister always showed her and her family and the love she had for her children.

Anna lay in her bed that night, bathed in the soft glow of her bedside lamp, a contented smile playing on her lips. It had been a long day, but a satisfying one. As she closed her eyes, she couldn’t help but feel that everything was falling into place.

The relief and joy she felt at finally achieving her goal washed over her like a warm wave, filling her with a sense of accomplishment.
