She’s the one I want to be with..
Next day, Kyler found himself standing in front of his family home.
The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the front yard. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself.
Today was the day he would introduce his family to the woman he truly loved.
It was a step towards a new beginning, a future free from the deceit and betrayal of the past.
He entered the house, the familiar creak of the front door greeting him. Inside, the atmosphere was tense but hopeful.
Margaret sat in her favorite chair, a look of anticipation on her face.
Evelyn and James stood nearby, their expressions a mixture of worry and support.
Stephen and Noah were also present, their silent presence a reminder of the events that had transpired.
Kyler cleared his throat, drawing everyone’s attention. “Grandma, Mom, Dad, I’d like you to meet someone.”
He stepped aside, revealing a young woman standing just behind him. She had an air of quiet strength about her, her eyes filled with determination.
Kyler took her hand, leading her into the room.
“This is Arielle,” he said, his voice steady. “She’s the one I want to be with.”
Margaret’s eyes softened as she looked at Arielle. “It’s nice to meet you, dear.”
Arielle smiled, her voice calm and respectful, but underneath her heart was beating so fast, and she was too nervous. “It’s an honor to meet you all.”
Evelyn’s expression was guarded, but she nodded in acceptance. “Welcome, Arielle.”
James stepped forward, extending his hand. “We’re glad to have you here, Arielle.”
Arielle shook his hand firmly. “Thank you, Mr. Young.”
Margaret leaned forward, her curiosity piqued. “What do you do, dear?”
Arielle smiled warmly. “I am currently the president of King Enterprises.”
James nodded, a hint of respect in his eyes. “I’ve heard of it. It has quite a reputation.”
Evelyn tilted her head slightly. “Kyler told us you’re the daughter of the Reynolds family.”
Arielle nodded, her smile unwavering. “Yes, I am. My father is Nathaniel Reynolds, founded Reynolds Industries, and my mother, Celine Brown handles the work with dad. And My Brother is Asher Reynolds, most of the work Asher handles currently.”
Evelyn’s eyes softened slightly, though the tension in the room remained palpable. “I see. It sounds like you come from a very esteemed family.”
Arielle continued, her voice steady. “They’ve always been very supportive of my endeavors, even when I decided to branch out on my own. King Enterprises was a dream I pursued with their blessing, and it’s grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.”
The initial introductions went smoothly, but there was still an undercurrent of tension. The family was clearly protective of Kyler, and the recent events had left them wary. Yet, they were polite and welcoming, trying to give Arielle a chance despite their reservations.
Evelyn couldn’t shake her concerns about Zoe and the impact this would have on their family. She watched Kyler closely, noting the way he looked at Arielle.
It was clear that he cared deeply for her.
As the evening progressed, the conversation turned to more mundane topics, the family trying to create a sense of normalcy.
But the shadow of recent events still loomed large. Margaret eventually excused herself, feeling tired. Stephen and Noah also left, giving the family some privacy.
Evelyn stood up, her expression serious. “Kyler, we need to talk.”
Kyler nodded, understanding her unspoken question. “Arielle, could you give us a moment?”
Arielle nodded, giving him a reassuring smile. “Of course. I’ll wait in the other room.”
Once Arielle had left, Evelyn turned to Kyler, her voice filled with concern. “Are you sure about this, Kyler? After everything that’s happened, do you really believe she’s the right one for you?”
Kyler met her gaze, his resolve unwavering. “I do, Mom. Arielle is nothing like Zoe. She’s strong, honest, and she’s been through a lot herself. I trust her.”
James stepped in, his voice calm. “We have to trust Kyler’s judgment, Evelyn. He’s made his decision.”
Evelyn sighed, her worry evident. “I just don’t want him to get hurt again.”
Kyler placed a hand on her shoulder. “I know, Mom. But I have to follow my heart.”
Evelyn nodded, her eyes filled with unshed tears. “Just be careful, Kyler. We’ve already lost so much.”
Kyler pulled her into a hug. “I will, Mom. I promise.”
After they had dinner, Arielle and Kyler walked to Kyler's car.
Kyler held Arielle's hand, feeling the warmth and reassurance in her touch.
“You did great,” Kyler said softly.
Arielle smiled, her eyes reflecting the dim streetlights. “Because you were with me. I was beyond nervous.”
Kyler chuckled. “Mmm... By the way, how's Peanut?”
Arielle's smile widened. “He misses you.”
Kyler nodded thoughtfully. “By the way... I sent so many proposals to your organization. You didn’t accept one.”
Arielle laughed, the sound light and genuine. “Oh, I didn’t know it was your organization. I thought the leader of the devil just wanted to steal my business.”
Kyler grinned, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “I just wanted to know who was the leader, you know.”
Arielle lightly tapped Kyler’s cheeks. “You know now.”
Kyler nodded, his expression softening. “Mmm... I know now.”
Arielle’s eyes twinkled with amusement. “And don’t you know, Marcus and Henry are quite famous from KING.”
Kyler nodded, thinking back. “Indeed, there were some details. But I just thought you were being friends with them.”
Arielle nodded. “Yeah... Marcus, Henry, and Isabelle, they are my childhood friends.”
Kyler raised an eyebrow. “And Ryle?”
Arielle turned to face Kyler fully, her expression serious. “Ryle too. I talked to him. He is happy to see us together.”
Kyler smirked. “Good, or I wouldn’t invite him to our wedding.”
Arielle laughed, a melodious sound that filled the night air. “You’re jealous.”
Kyler scoffed lightly. “I am not.”
Arielle tilted her head, studying him. “Then why do you look like you want to murder someone?”
Kyler lowered his eyes, a playful smirk on his lips as he leaned in and kissed her. “I am not jealous,” he emphasized between kisses.
But his kiss told a different story. There was a possessiveness, a passion that betrayed his earlier words. Arielle could feel the intensity of his emotions, the unspoken fears and desires that lay beneath the surface.
As they pulled apart, their breaths mingling in the cool night air, Arielle rested her forehead against his. “I love you, Kyler.”
Kyler smiled, his eyes softening. “I love you too, Arielle. More than anything.”
