Chapter 52

Alexa

As I regained consciousness, I tried to twist and turn but my hands were bind together and I wondered why.

Only then did I remember that I was still be I the captivity of Brianna’s minions and they had knocked me out after tying my hands up when I tried to escape.

I could feel my self floating and I became confused.

Floating?

Last thing I remembered was me laying on the cold hard floor after I was dropped on it hard.

I opened my eyes and saw that I was in the middle of the river, I was surrounded by flowing water and the two men from earlier were watching me from a close distance because they were also in the water.

“She’s awake?” The tall one said with shock evident in his voice and face. “How can she be awake?” He asked again and the short one groaned in frustration.

“She was poisoned by the boss but she didn’t die now we tried drowning her, it didn’t work and now the bitch is awake. Could anything else go wrong?” The short one asked to no one in particular, his voice and expression showing that he was in shock.

They didn’t come to me and I struggled to break free but I could not seem to because of how tightly bound I was by the rope around my hands and they kept watching me a blank expression on their faces.

I noticed that I was floating and not struggling to stay afloat and I wondered why. This was not normal, by normal circumstances I should be growing or struggling to stay afloat but that was not the case.

“She’s still not drowning, what else can we do?” The tall one asked and the short one moved closer to him and whispered something into his ear and they began smiling at each other wickedly.

‘Oh moon goddess what did I do to deserve this?’ I asked myself as I was tired of this situation I was in.

Their efforts to kill me is not working and my effort to escape was also proving to be futile.

They moved towards me and the taller one carried me up on his shoulders and they swam to the stream bank.

‘Here we go again’ I said to myself as I rolled my eyes.

I wondered why my wolf was not speaking to me or trying to help me. Did she abandon me? Or was it because of the poison?

As I kept wondering why my wolf was not talking to me, I noticed that they had gotten out of the water.

I was wet and cold and I was shivering, he dropped me by the bank of the river and they both walked away from me.

I kept struggling to break free but it still was not budging so I just gave up.

They started gathering twigs and sticks and wrapped it all around a dead tree and I wondered what they were up to this time.

They carried on about silently, building something that look like a forte?

I had no idea what it was but they kept at it.

When they were done they faced each other and nodded in silent agreement as they walked towards the opposite direction and disappeared.

But in no time, they came back with a keg in the hands of the short man, containing what I have no idea of and moved towards me with a smile on each of their faces.

As they got closer towards me, the tall carried me bridal style from where I was and took me to the front of a dead tree where they had built a forte of twigs and sticks and he dropped me on the floor. The short one then opened the keg and started emptying it all over my wet body.

The smell coming from the liquid was familiar. It was gasoline.

Wait.. what?

Gasoline?

Were they trying to burn me? Oh my goodness, this can not be happening!

They were about to light me on fire when suddenly I saw Zade from the corner of my eyes.

I tried my best to hold in my excitement so the men in front of me glimmering down at me with sadistic smile would know notice my joy.

Before I knew it, Zade punched the tall one and startled the short one simultaneously leaving them no room to react or fight back.

I sighed in relief as my savior had finally come no matter how cliché that sounded.

I say there silently as I watched Zade fight them off and my heart swelled in pride.

He came for me and he his fighting for me, I should not have thought so bad of him or ignored him as all that lead to the situation I was in now.

He fought them off and knocked them out and they didn’t even touch a hair on his body.

Ouuh sexy.

“Alexa,” he cooed as he moved towards me after regaining his breathe.

When he got to me, he freed me from the rope that tied my hands together and he enveloped me in a hug and I didn’t think twice before hugging him back.

“Zade,” I whispered as my voice broke and within minutes I was crying. “I thought I was going to die,” I say while crying as I could not control myself.

I hugged him even tighter as I cried into his neck. He didn’t care that I was wet as he reciprocated the hug and was rubbing my head to ease me up.

“Stop saying that,” he said as he reprimanded me but he still held me lovingly. “I’m here now, let it all out,” he said to me softly and I only cried harder.

I didn’t what to think of what might have happened to me if he got here any later.

“I would never let anything happen to you, I promise,” he said promisingly and everything in me believed him.

My heart swelled at his words and I felt bad for always thinking the worst of him.

“I thought you didn’t love me and you only wanted me in your life to break your curse,” I said to him, my face still buried in his neck.

“What!?” He whisper yelled as he gently pulled my head away from his neck and turned me to face him. “Why would you think of something like that?” He asked me.

“Well, that night you were talking with Brianna, I might have overheard you both,” I say to him shyly while looking away from him.

“Did you call down to listen to every part of our discussion?” He asked me as he kept staring at me.

“No I didn’t, I ran a way from there,” I replied him as I shied away from him but he drew me closer to him and pulled me into a hug again.

“Well you heard wrong,” he simply said. “I might be an horrible person but to you I would be whatever you want and I don’t plan on hurting you but instead doing whatever you want,” he said to me as he hugged me even tighter.

The way my heart swelled in me, I was pretty sure it was going to burst. I had a smile on my face as he let out his words and every fiber in me knew he meant what he had just said.

“Okay,” I whispered.

“Let’s get you inside, you’re shivering,” he said as he made to get up with me wrapped around his body.

He got up from the floor carrying me in his arms like it was nothing and made to head out from where we were.

“Did you know Brianna is behind all these, I know you might not believe me and al-“ I started saying trying to make it known to him who had done all of these but he interrupted me.

“Yes I know,” he replied though gritted teeth.

“Oh-“ I simply said not being able to form any words. “What are you going to do about them?” I asked as I looked at the unconscious men on the floor.

“They were under he spell but don’t worry about that I would fix everything,” he said as he placed a gentle kiss on my forehead and kept walking towards the garden and then the palace.
