CHAPTER NINETY ONE

CHAPTER NINETY ONE
Delora's Pov

Two figures coming toward my direction, I quickly dropped the barrel that was with me and ran to the back gate they were entering from. Taking Denise by her clothes, I dragged her to a place where the guards could barely see anyone.

"What are you doing here with him? We are at the farm" my voice barely touched the air.

"He will be quick" Denise whispered back. "I also have to be back at the castle in no time. So hurry"

The physician's voice crackled before he coughed out his debris. "I have come to check your body. I may not have been here either. If it weren't for…" his eyes slowly turned to Denise who was beside him. "I wouldn't have come here against the king's order."

"But you're here and that is what matters" Her voice hardened as she spoke to him. I could tell she had tipped him some of her savings. She could literally sacrifice anything for me.

"Be kind with your words" my fingers squeezed her skin saying in a low voice where only she could hear me. "I am doing fine. You do not have to worry about me." I turned back with a wry smile. "How long do we need to pay for this check-up? My child and I shall be fine, you do not have to accept Denise's offer whenever she says. Moreover, what if you get caught and lose your job? Do you not have that fear?"

His eyeball became sunken, like a realization had just crossed his mind.

"Why would you want to scare him off?" Denise's mouth roughened together and her lashes grazed my body up and down. "Don't piss me off, Delora."

"Your money should be used for a good cause. Not to bribe him."

"Who said-"
"She isn't bribing me"

They had both said together. Then each of their eyes turned against the other. The physician's brows raised.

"You said you didn't have any money, any savings."

"You said she was like a sister to you and you would help me."

I stood with my lips open as they both exchanged words. I just caused a disagreement, but they still needed to leave as this was not a safe place for either of them.

"Just be quick!" I raised my voice.

He opened his leather bag and then brought some of his instruments, one that looked like a horn and then he placed it on my belly to hear the child's heartbeat.

After some inspections, his lip curled into a smile. "Surprisingly, your child is doing fine." He said

Denise's eyes met mine and we both curled into a smile. "Is that true?" Denise asked him

"Yes. She is carrying this child well. The baby is fine. However, the mother needs to avoid strenuous activities so she can be strong enough to carry the child."

"You know her situation…" Denise's tone went low.

"Yeah, but it would take the goddess for her to be free from strenuous activities. What if her belly pops out then this and everyone finds out about her pregnancy, her punishment would be doubled. What would she do by then?" Like a mother, the tone, the pace of her voice were all that melted my heart. Denise was too good to me.

"If we keep checking her at least once a month, then we can easily detect when the baby isn't doing well we would know what to do."

"Understood." Denise smiled.

"You have to go now-"

"Delora" I was cut off by Esau's voice. All eyes turned toward the direction he was walking. His brows were raised as his eyes scanned the three of us. "What is going on?"

"The infamous Esau" Denise stretched her hand forward to him and he took it warmly, but the surprise remained on his face.

"Is something wrong?" He turned to look at the physician and they turned to me too. "Are you sick?" He asked.

"No. No" I smirked, taking his hands. "Denise and the physicians were just passing by and decided to say hello to me"

"Yes, Esau. I would be at the castle soon, but I cannot pass the farm without saying hello to Delora."

He nodded. "That is so kind of you."

"I'll see them off" I quickly added, pushing Denise to the back gate, just the way they came. As we moved a lot of distant from Esau, she stopped and turned to him.

"You wouldn't tell him?" She asked, her eyes widening. "You will be staying at the farm for the rest of your life. You have to tell him the truth, don't let his trust in you break anymore."

"Your feelings are noted and I will take them into consideration" I continued pushing her back.

"You can go back to the farm now before the guards start looking for you."

"Please don't bring the physician here again" I put my palms together and requested. "I do not want you to get in trouble and I do not want him to lose his place in the palace"

"You worry too much" Denise clicked her tongue, before holding the man by the hand. "We have to run now," she said to him

"No. You have to run" he took his hand off hers. "No one would question my whereabouts. Just save yourself"

Denise's nose flared and she snarled at the physician, before taking to her feet.
With no words said, I turned back and proceeded to do the same as Denise.

"You're pregnant. You do not need to run" The physician advised flew from the back. I stood still and slowly turned to him with my lips curving into a kind smile. "I'll put that into mind, next time, physician."

Before he could say otherwise, I took to my heels and ran back to the farm. Esau stood at the back gate pacing around and I joined him panting.

"You always give me something to stress about" he uttered bitterly.
