Chapter 40

Chapter 40
“So long as you don’t try to lift yourself with those chains or cause any crap, we won’t bind your hands. You got it?” Dane stood casually in front of Dad trying to be intimidating. But even at his weakest, my dad is a powerful Alpha and would not accept shit laying down, something that he made evident when he spoke next

“Fuck you. I promise you that as soon as the time comes, I will have retribution.” Through gritted teeth, and with his wolf, Varg present in his eyes showing us his glorious gold iris, the magnificent Alpha threatened the lowly bullies

“And how exactly do you plan on doing that, old man? I don’t think that you are in any position to make threats, or will you ever be again.” Reid shot over to him using his wolf speed and got right up in Dad’s face, a look of anger on his face as he challenged him. His own wolf was there, most probably because his authority felt threatened and he was an Alpha wolf too.

Dad Laughed, and each chuckle that moved his chest pulled at the hooks that had pierced and was stretching his skin. He did not acknowledge any of the pain associated with it, shocking me at how resilient he could be.

Obviously, Reid took offense to Dad’s reaction, and it was like he was a cartoon bull with steam coming out of his ears and nostrils because of his intense rage. He punched Dad with all his strength in the stomach, making him swing on the chains like he was a human punchbag.

Dad wheezed as he rotated, his feet hanging inches off the floor and unable to get himself any stability.

“Looks like this little prick needs reminding that he’s not the boss anymore.” Dane teased Dad, but at the same time egged Reid the nutjob on to terrorize him even more.

“He’s not the only one; these other two fuckers need a lesson in how the new politics work around here.”

Reid stalked away towards the cells that were still occupied by Eli and Pete, rattling keys as he went as if contemplating who to let himself loose on this time. Only momentarily did he consider his options before he unlocked Pete’s cage, step aside and ordered him out.

It was when Pete attempted to rise that I noticed him struggle from his previous squatting close to the floor, and I noticed that he was dragging his leg. It was strange to see such a strong man so defeated; his face was blotchy from crying underneath all the fresh bruises, the way that his shoulders sagged, even his eyes told a sad tale. He hobbled out from the cell without saying a word, just stared down at the floor as if studying it for some exam.

“Over here.” Reid tried giving Pete orders to come and stand in an empty space a couple of steps away from Dad, but I guess he was not in the mood for their bullshit and grunted as he sat down in the chair instead. He sagged into the chair as though there was nothing left of his energy and hissed as soon as his arms rested on the metal – it more than likely contained silver, but Beta Pete did not seem to care. He just sat there, waiting like a good little prisoner for his dues.

“What am I doing here?” I was still hiding in the doorway, where everyone’s heads turned to look at me, and some of the faces morphed into that of surprise.

“Oli?” A unison of bewildered male voices chorused my name.

I looked from one person to the next of the three people in the room that I knew and loved well, my fear and heart spiking together as it really sunk in what we were all here for.

“Don’t worry, Oli, we won’t kill your Alpha – he's more valuable to us alive than he is dead.” Reid spoke sarcastically, attempting to put me out of my miserable anticipation, but instead made it harder to believe that he was speaking the truth. He was not the type of person to reassure others, and I know that he had not suddenly changed in the last few seconds. It never occurred to me that he did not promise the safety of the other two though, not until it was too late.

Reid went over to Pete and started to tie his wrists down with the chains that hand been hanging down from the arms of the corroded chair; wrapping them around three or four times to make sure that he was not going anywhere. Not that Pete was trying to go anywhere, he had resigned himself to his fate and was not attempting to struggle with Reid and keep from being restrained. He continued to sag in the chair as his feet were bound in the same way.

Once he had finished tying Pete down, Reid went over to the wall of weapons and gadgets and began loading a few items onto a small steel trolley flickered with brown spots that looked suspiciously a lot like old blood. He pulled it over to Pete and slid it up alongside the chair, leaving it in constant reach for himself.
“Now then, let’s get down to business.” Reid huffed as he perched his backside on a wobbly stool that Dane had brought over to him.

With him now sitting, he was at eye-level to Pete. He used this as an opportunity to glare at him and watch how this wolf in front of him was not a threat to his pack anymore, but it was not going to stop him.

Reid leaned over, grabbed a hunting knife from the tray of the trolley that was equipped for an attack on an army and began waving it around as he appeared to be examining it.

In a blur, Reid plunged the blade into Pete’s left thigh. He left the knife inserted in his leg, causing Pete more pain that way, and blood to trickle out in a steady stream around the edges of the sharpened edges.

Pete’s eyes widened as he shot upright, no longer slouched back in the chair thanks to the torture that was now underway. I saw his jaw tense as he grit his teeth trying not to make a sound, despite the intense agony that he now felt in his leg. Before he had a chance to get used to new object protruding from his leg, Reid had grabbed another knife similar to the first and buried it deep into Pete’s other thigh.

This time, Pete cried out in distress and agony, the new injury being too much for him with it being so close to the last.

Keeping up with being as disdainful as he had been so far, and without me noticing, Reid had grabbed a pair of pliers. He leaned forward from his stool, gripped the Beta’s right hand whilst he was distracted in his anguish and started ripping his nails out from the nailbeds.
