Chapter 44: Escape 1
When I finally met what I was looking for, I dashed to the door. I no longer wishes to be in that house. I regretted falling in love and being caught in its web. I needed to escape. We were on a large island in the Luz, according to the map I was reading. Michael had brought me to what he thought was a vacation at his home at the top of the mountain. He owned a semi-private beach resort.
I would not be in danger if I carefully followed the map. I had known for a long time, but I had not devised a way to escape. I didn't want to leave his side, but there was no reason to because I knew he would kill me, just as he had taken my father away. God! He had no a heart.
"Anya!"
Inside the house, I heard his yell. I was exactly outside and at the beginning of the road leading
to the resort, where I would ask for assistance. God lead my way!
Tears welled up in my eyes as I ran. I wiped my
eyes so I could see the road ahead. I needed to run. He was following me, and I was not going to let that happen. He would lock me up again.
"Anya..." Hiss voice could be heard nearby.
No!
I hided when I saw a large chunk of rock next to the root of a large tree and secretly prayed that I would lead them astray. My tears continued unabated. I couldn't believe my father was no longer around. Hopefully, the forest would let me go and meet my sister and mother this time. I didn't want to stay there any longer; I would go insane.
"It's entirely your fault! I will kill you if we don't
find her soon."
I was enraged when I heard his voice in a
distance
"Really, Michael? My fault?" Response of its interlocutor
"You're f*cked!"
"F*ck you as well."
And I heard the motorcycle vehicle leaving. I
sighed deeply at the thought that they had gone. My tears continued to fall and I emerged from my hiding place.
I walked down the winding road. I ignored the
stinging pain of my foot slamming into the stepping stones. My heart was hurting even more. I used to be afraid of the dark, but then, I didn't mind being surrounded by it. The important thing was that I could get out of that hell. Get away from the vampire!
I had no idea how many hours I had spent walking around. I didn't even pause for a second. I was relieved that the moon was shining brightly, allowing me to freely roam in the middle of the forest. I didn't
expect the pleasure I'd felt earlier with him under the waterfall to be replaced by such anguish.
It was because of my heart that I was in pain. 'Don't fall into his trap because it will only hurt you,' my mind solemnly said, but I did. And not just hurt, but he crushed my soul.
The beautiful paradise of the beach resort opened up to me. That was stunning! I, on the other hand, didn't have time for that. I nearly screamed when I saw him yell angrily at the island's crew and guards.
I could tell he was looking for me based on his
appearance. I gave a bitter smile. I was wanted not because I was important, but because he wished to murder me in and take away something my father had treasured for long, and maybe he could kill him too! The
agony of fate.
As his staffs dispersed into the forest, I took
advantage of the opportunity to run over large chunks of rock near the sea. I leaned over to avoid being noticed by some of the island's residents who were looking for me.
"What are you doing here, alone?"
I could have cried out of fear if I hadn't already
covered my mouth. An elderly man stood in front of me, carrying an empty bucket and a white towel around his neck. I became optimistic.
"Please be merciful to me. Bring me along when you leave! Please help me, I'm going insane here. Please take me away from this island."
He looked at me and sighed, "I don't know what you're up to, but I'll help you get out of here, sweet little lady." He led me to the moored boat ahead, and thankfully, no one noticed our movements. The old man was with another lady whom I thought he had rescued too, shw was probably of my age, which explained why he didn't hesitate to help me earlier.
"Wear it to keep warm while we're at sea." The woman handed me the blanket.
I accepted it and expressed my gratitude. I bursted into tears at that point. I couldn't stop sobbing in my palm. They remained silent and did not ask me any additional questions. They just let me cry and cry untill passed out from exhaustion.
The old man and the girl took me to their simple
home. His wife and children were sleeping on the cement floor. I wasn't picky, so when the girl whose name I had not known, invited me to lie down on the small bamboo bed to one side, I said yes. I needed to rest and regain my strength. I was relieved to think I had escaped.
I discovered that the fisherman had helped me that night. Every week, the old man served fish and seafoods at Michael's resort, as does his daughter Odessa, who didn't want her father to be alone to sail and deliver.
Michael punched the tree sternly, not seeing the 'girl' he had kept captive. He screamed in exasperation. His hand was bleeding, but he continued to punch it. There was a clearing team, and they searched the entire island, but I did not appear in their sights.
F*ck it! Where are you?! Fuck. I'l find you myself!
He delivered another powerful blow. I surely shouldn't approach the cops in case I really had escaped. He would also search the neighboring town the next morning. All of his plans would be foiled.
When Odessa woke me up the next day, I was
completely overwhelmed. My eyes were filled with fear.
"Someone is looking for you. They visited every house showing your picture in the other barrio. You must leave."
I became paralyzed by fear all over sudden. Michael's demonic followers were unable to capture or recapture me. Suddenly, I remembered my sister Layla, memorized her phone number, and realized I could
ask her for help. This was the only person who
could assist me. And because Odessa had a cellphone, I Immediately dialed Layla's Long number before the other line answered.
"Hello?"
I'm sorry, Layla, but I'm dragging you into this.
"This is Anya. Please help me. please help me!" My determination to leave the place immediately moved me to tears. If I would stay, the person who helped me get there could be harmed, and I didn't not want that to happen.
"Anya, sister? God! Where are you? l'm so worried! I've been looking for you for a long time. l'll be there in a minute," she said as she disconnected the other line.
Layla tracked me down despite the fact that I didn't say where I was. All I had to do was hide for a while until she arrived.
When I looked out the window, I saw a chopper
landing. When I saw Layla on it, I burst into tears.
"Layla!"
Layla dashed to the house where I was hiding and Immediately hugged me tightly.
"Sister Thank Goodness you're still alive. When I found out you were missing, I almost went insane looking for you. You have no idea
how terrified I was, Anya."
Her shoulder became sore as I sobbed. I drew
strength from her.
I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I'm a bad Sister!
"Hey, Anya. It's fine, I'm here." She brushes my hair. "Thank you for taking care of her. I owe you my life," Layla thanked the family for helping me and then darkness engulfed. I lost consciousness. Perhaps this the reaction of my body whenever I wanted to escape pain. It was not new to me but why did I still feel the pain?
Michael's mouth twitched and he grinned at the sight. I had managed to escape from him via the old man who personally delivered sea food to his crew.
He kept a close eye on me when I aboard the chopper...
