Chapter 236

Chapter 236

Roy's voice quivered with excitement as he spoke up. "If Ollie wasn't lying, then the ghost's real form must be inside the house!"

Charles looked at him, surprised and impressed by Roy's quick thinking. He had considered the same possibility, but Roy had connected the dots faster than he expected. Still, Charles had a gut feeling that things were more complicated than they seemed.

"Fiona, I need to ask. The second hint limits our actions. How far can we go without 'recklessly destroying' things?" Charles asked.

Fiona sighed and explained, "This is a lesson learned from many who lost their lives. The hint means we can only destroy one thing, and each of us has just one chance to mess up. If we destroy more than one item and none of them are the ghost's true form, the ghost will be free and come after us immediately."

Charles's face grew even more serious. He had thought they had at least a couple of chances to make mistakes. Now, it seemed the challenge of this fourth room was far more brutal than they had imagined.

After discussing their plan for taking turns on watch, everyone lay down to rest. In the darkness, there was no conversation, only the occasional sound of the wind.

As the first rays of sunlight pierced through the clouds and shone on the house, everyone in the clearing woke up one by one. They quickly counted heads and found that no one had met with misfortune during the night, breathing a sigh of relief. This indicated that the ghost was still bound and couldn't attack them at will.

However, this sense of relief didn't last long. As they began to discuss the day's plan, conflicts erupted once again.

Six people were adamantly opposed to filming the play. These six were Charles's group of four, along with Ainsley and her teammate.

"Filming is risky. Are we the only ones who see that? Everyone's taking risks, but you want to sit back and enjoy the benefits. Isn't that too much?" Someone in the crowd complained.

Fiona was about to explain when Ainsley cut in, "Sit back and enjoy? We never said that. While you're filming, we'll be searching the house for the ghost's true form. If we find anything suspicious, we'll collect it and deal with it later."

But the person continued to argue, "Who knows if you're really searching? Maybe you're just using it as an excuse to slack off! There are so many things in the house, you could just grab something random to fool us, and we wouldn't know!"

"Yeah, exactly! You guys are so selfish!"

"This room's task is already hard enough, and now we have to deal with you slackers. It's just our luck!"

The crowd's curses grew louder. Fiona frowned, about to speak again, but Ainsley interrupted once more, "Fine. If you don't like it, don't film it! Who's forcing you? There are still 15 of us. If a few die, we can reshoot. We have five days left, what's the rush? Knowing that filming might be dangerous, do you still want to go to your death? Why not search for the ghost's true form first?"

Ainsley's words cut through the crowd like a knife. A tall, dark-skinned man in the crowd sneered and mocked, "Search for the ghost's true form? Do you think you're God? With no clues, you're just going to search? The house is full of stuff, you gonna check every single thing? And don't forget the room's restrictions! You think you can escape?"

As soon as he finished speaking, a cold wind blew through, and it felt like the air froze for a moment. Everyone shivered in unison, a wave of inexplicable fear washing over them.
