Chapter 235

Chapter 235

The night was completely dark. The occasional cawing of crows added an eerie touch to the house.

Charles and his group of four found a secluded corner to sit down. Their spot was not only a good distance from the house but also away from the crowd. The mountain wind blew gently, carrying a barely noticeable chill that made them shiver involuntarily.

"Fiona, Howard, have you noticed anything weird?" Roy asked in a low voice.

It was clear that this wasn't his first time working with them on a mission. He was highly alert to everything around them and had a great deal of trust in Fiona and Howard.

Fiona quickly scanned the area. After a moment, she spoke in a hushed tone, "This place might seem calm, but something's definitely watching our every move. Remember what Ralph mentioned on the phone about the house owner reclaiming the site in a week?"

The three nodded in unison, a flicker of unease in their eyes.

"He said the owner plans to bring in a construction crew to renovate and turn this place into a filming base. But I think it's far from simple. According to the hidden rules of the place, if we don't find and destroy the ghost's core within this week, when those 'people' come up the mountain, we'll be facing an unpredictable disaster..."

Howard picked up the thread, continuing, "Exactly, while the filming schedule is important, our primary task is to find that ghost.

"If we deal with it, even if we only have one day left, we can finish filming smoothly.

"Otherwise, the ghost's interference during filming will not only slow our progress but also cause our team to dwindle."

Fiona's meticulousness and Howard's decisiveness made Roy ponder deeply. He turned to Charles and asked softly, "Charles, what do you think? Have you noticed anything special?"

Charles was slightly taken aback, then fell silent for a moment before speaking slowly, "Let me see your scripts."

Taking the scripts from the three, Charles carefully flipped through them, his brow furrowed. Each person had their own copy of the script, but Charles wasn't sure what roles everyone had.

After reviewing the scripts, he thought for a long time before finally speaking, "We have too little information right now. Blind guessing will only lead us into greater trouble.

"However, our character settings are interesting. Although we're all supporting roles, we die relatively late. This means that in the earlier parts of the plot, we might be able to observe and gather more clues."

He paused, his gaze sweeping over the figures scattered around the clearing, then continued, "There will definitely be bloodshed in the room. We won't harm anyone proactively, but we don't need to help everyone either. Tomorrow, if anyone wants to try filming, let them. This way, we can verify if following the script really leads to death."

The three nodded in agreement.

At that moment, Roy quietly tugged on Charles's sleeve and asked in a low voice, "Charles, I saw you talking to Ollie earlier. What did you two discuss?"

Charles was momentarily stunned, then recalled the scene of their conversation. At that time, everyone had just received their scripts and were gathered in small groups on the clearing, chatting. He had deliberately sought out Ollie, avoiding the crowd's gaze, but hadn't expected to be noticed.

However, it was understandable for teammates to pay attention to each other.

Charles pretended to think for a while before slowly recounting his conversation with Ollie.

After hearing Charles's account, Roy's eyes lit up with excitement, "I get it! If Ollie is right, then the ghost existed before we arrived! Its core is likely hidden somewhere in this house!"

"Do you remember the second hint? We're not allowed to damage the filming set or equipment. This is both a restriction and a clue! It suggests that the ghost's core might be part of the set or equipment!"
