Chapter 230
Chapter 230
During the break, Charles folded his script and strolled over to the cameraman. "Hey, I'm Charles, one of the actors in this film."
The sudden voice jolted the cameraman, who had been deep in thought. He looked up at Charles, stunned for a few seconds before snapping back to reality. He shook Charles' hand a bit awkwardly and replied in a low voice, "Hey, I'm Ollie, the cameraman."
Ollie's response was short and polite, but it had a hint of reluctance, like he wasn't too keen on chatting.
As Ollie lowered his head to adjust the old camera, Charles spoke again, his voice carrying a subtle edge. "You seem a bit out of it. Is there something wrong with this project?"
Ollie's hands froze on the camera, but he kept his head down, avoiding eye contact with Charles.
Charles' words were loaded. Usually, if someone seemed distracted, you'd ask if they were okay or if something was bothering them. But Charles went straight to suggesting there was an issue with the project.
This hinted that Charles had picked up on something off about the situation, or maybe he already knew a secret.
Ollie hesitated for a moment, then slowly raised his head, scrutinizing Charles before glancing at the flickering shadows under the lights. "I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know anything."
Charles' tone shifted, becoming both firm and slightly persuasive. "You've noticed something weird about this place too, haven't you?"
"Don't worry, I'm not one to spread rumors. I also think there's something very wrong here..."
Ollie's grip on the camera tightened involuntarily. He glanced towards Ralph, making sure Ralph wasn't paying attention, then lowered his voice to a near whisper. "You can't tell anyone what I'm about to say, or this project will fall apart, and I won't get paid."
"Ralph has to know about this. He had the company send a team here to scout the location and leave supplies and tents—the ones he just showed you, where you're supposed to stay."
Charles nodded. "And then?"
Ollie swallowed hard, sweat beading on his forehead, his voice dropping even lower. "A friend of mine in the logistics department told me that the team came here a week ago, but none of them returned. Not a single one!"
Charles' brow furrowed as he listened to Ollie. "Are you saying... the entire scouting team disappeared?"
Ollie nodded emphatically. "Five people went, and all of them vanished without a trace. My friend reported it to the police, but every time he tried to call, the calls wouldn't go through. No matter whose phone he used, it was the same. It's too bizarre..."
"Before the shoot, he kept telling me not to come. Now I think I should have listened to him..."
Charles looked at Ollie, a flicker of indescribable fear in his eyes. The house's odd wind whistled through the cracks, carrying with it the wails of countless lost souls, intensifying the eerie, suspenseful atmosphere...
