Chapter 224
Chapter 224
By the time Charles had silently taken care of the thirty-six well-trained bodyguards outside the mansion, the night was deep, and it was already 2:30 in the morning.
Sitting in the luxurious black sedan, the driver was lost in the world of high-end car audio. Suddenly, a faint but clear sound came from the car window. He looked up but saw nothing in the darkness.
Just as he was about to close his eyes and continue enjoying the music, there was another soft sound, this time clearer.
The driver frowned and pressed his face closer to the window. In the dim moonlight, he could barely make out a nearly imperceptible scratch on the glass, as if something small and hard had scraped it.
Knowing the value of the car, he angrily rolled down the window, intending to stick his head out and see which fool dared to mess with this precious vehicle.
But as soon as the window was halfway down, a sense of foreboding surged through him.
If some punk or mischievous kid had thrown a rock at the car, the bodyguards outside would never have let it slide!
In fact, no one should have been able to get close to the car at all!
He quickly pulled his head back, realizing something was wrong, but it was too late.
A dark hand swiftly reached through the window, holding a gleaming knife aimed directly at his throat!
"Don't..." The driver's hair stood on end, his voice trembling.
Half of Charles's face was hidden in the shadows, the other half illuminated by the dim light inside the car. He gave the driver a slight smile, a smile that seemed more terrifying than a ghost.
Charles tilted his head, signaling the driver to get out of the car.
The driver raised his hands, not daring to resist, his legs weak as he slowly opened the door and stepped out.
"Look at my face. Do I look familiar?" Charles asked softly.
The driver shook his head, his heart filled with fear.
The dim light of the night, the close distance between them, and the car's body obscuring the view made it impossible for anyone to notice anything unusual.
"My name is 'Abyssal Whisper' or... 'Ink Master.' Quite a few people know me. You guys came looking for me before, so why are you pretending not to know me now?" Charles's voice was low.
Hearing "Ink Master," the driver shuddered involuntarily!
He couldn't understand why this death-like figure had come for them at this moment!
What terrified him even more was how Charles had managed to appear here without anyone noticing, despite the tight security of thirty-six bodyguards.
"Looking for something? Looking for those dead men?" Charles whispered in the driver's ear, his voice barely audible. "But tonight, my plan doesn't include you. I'm only taking forty-one lives. So, if you cooperate, I'll let you go. Understand?"
The driver trembled all over, then nodded vigorously, his voice quivering with a sob. "Understood... understood!"
Under Charles's gaze, the driver felt as if he were being stared down by death itself, cold from head to toe.
A single person, silently taking out thirty-six bodyguards... it was beyond his imagination!
Charles seemed to read his thoughts, smiling slightly as he patiently explained, "If it were an open area, I couldn't have taken them all out alone. But you chose the wrong place. This spot is perfect for an ambush. The geographical features that you thought would help you blend in actually worked to my advantage."
"I just repeated the act of killing one person thirty-six times, and they fell so easily. What a pity."
"In a while, Silver Sentinel will call you after his meeting. You need to talk to him as if everything is normal." Charles's words carried an undeniable authority.
The driver nodded, then shook his head, his voice trembling: "He'll kill me. He'll know I'm lying, and I'll be dead for sure!"
Charles said calmly, "Don't worry, he'll die before you do. But if you don't cooperate with me, you'll die before him."
Looking at the cold gleam of the knife in Charles's hand and his almost playful tone, the driver swallowed hard and nodded again, more vigorously this time.
About twenty minutes later, the driver's phone finally rang.
