Unknown Guests 2

Unknown Guests 2
Conrad grew so uncomfortable with each passing second, my questions made his blood boil and he couldn't even hide it, not with the look of death he gave me when I touched his hands. Emilia kept staring at everyone, having no clue who the guests were or why they even came.

"I'm asking you, Conrad, who are these people?" I asked again, not bothered if he was ready to devour me in a heartbeat but instead of the latter, he smiled and touched my cheeks. Consider them my good friends who are simply here to have dinner with us" he said softly as he caressed my cheeks. I couldn't even fight his touch, his soft fingers eased my tension like magic but before I could them, he took his hand off my cheeks.

We dug right into the delicious meal that had been prepared by our very own chef, the aroma filling the dining room as everyone ate with calmness but Michael on the other hand, ate like a wild animal as he chewed hard on his turkey thighs, saliva dropping from his mouth like a wild dog. I couldn't stand the sight of such nonsense but my husband, Conrad, seemed to enjoy the moment as he stared at our son, making a mess of himself and disgracing himself before our guests.

"Michael!, Eat like a human being, you're not a dog!" I yelled in a heartbeat, drawing attention to myself in no time but I cared less, not when my son was falling apart in his manners.

Conrad had a frown as his eyes slowly ate me up but I wasn't scared of them at all.

"What did I do Mom?" Michael asked innocently, his saliva hands on the table and his cheeks covered in turkey crumbs, he looked so disgusting and I kept wondering why no one said anything about it but turned a blind eye like he didn't matter.

"You are eating like a dog and I hate that, eat properly or I will have you food fed to the dogs and perhaps you can eat with them" I threatened.

"And what does that mean, Arabella? Are you calling my son a dog? Is that what he is to you?" he asked calmly but with a voice full of disgust as he stared deep into my soul.

"No he's not but his table manners are nothing to write home about, I certainly raised my boy to behave in such a manner, he either eats properly like I have taught him or he eats with the dogs, perhaps they can teach him some table manners," I said harshly.

Conrad's look was one of anger and it was written all over his face as he took a sip from his glass of wine.

"I'm not a dog mom, mind your business!" Michael had the guts to yell but before I could react, Emilia gave him a good spank on his hands and he felt the impact at once as he was slowly moved to tears.

"Why can't you allow the boy to enjoy his meal? Why must you make everything so hard and about yourself?". Conrad revealed.

"I'm not making anything about myself, I'm correcting my son and if you have any problem with that then you should face me as your wife, Michael either eats properly or walks out of here this minute" I yelled.

The guests each had their eyes on me, watching us like we were their source of entertainment as they munched beautifully on their turkey. Michael who was still in tears walked out in anger, kicking his plate off the table, I watched as the pieces scattered all over the dining room.

"Why can't you let the boy have peace of mind?, Must you ruin everything?" Conrad yelled but quietly stood up from his chair, he left the dining room, hoping to get hold of Michael before he did anything stupid. I stood up too but Emilia signaled me with her eyes, I took my seat and continued my meal like nothing happened until they came back with Michael all cleaned up.

The silence that followed was a bit frightening, no one was ready to speak and in that moment, I asked the questions while Conrad watched.

"So tell me what brings you three to my humble abode?"

They each had a smile on their face as they cleaned their lips with the napkins provided, the lady in their middle had her eyes on Michael, I couldn't help but feel something was definitely weird.

"We are friends of your husband and Mr Conrad here invited us for a dinner and you know him, it's hard to turn down a man like Conrad" the eldest amongst them revealed with a broad smile but I wasn't moved, not even for a second but had to keep my fake smile going.

"So what do you all do for a living?, If I know my husband so well, I would say he doesn't follow an unemployed fellow or a broke nigga, of what use are you all to him?" I asked and that last part broke the camel's back as they kept staring without a word, their lips sealed like they were holding so much information back.

"Enough of this, Arabella, have I ever treated any of your friends in this manner?, Why can't we all have dinner in peace for one night?" Conrad asked, looking so pissed and uncomfortable by the change of atmosphere and emotions.

"That's fine Conrad, we are of great use to not just Conrad but anyone that comes to us" one of the guests whose name remained unknown revealed and his voice pissed me off.

"Then what are your names?, Are you all nameless?, What's with the pretense, I can't see the lies and fake formalities in your eyes and why has she been staring at my son for the past ten minutes?" I yelled, directing the last part to the lady whose smile pissed me off.

"Arabella!!!" Conrad screamed.

"Don't you dare persuade me, Conrad!, not until you tell me what's going on!" I yelled.

"Mrs Arabella, we are not here to hurt you, we are simply here for dinner and you seem to be ruining the moment" the lady dared to speak.

"I'm not ruining anything, I hate being lied to, Conrad knows that" I taunted her.

"You hate being lied to?, or you are the kind of woman who gets angry so easily and burns everything on her path, talk to me Arabella, does you anger control you or do you control your anger?" she asked and as I tried to reply in an instant, words failed me, leaving my mouth opened as the question struck me deep.

"My anger has nothing to do with any of this and besides, I'm not even angry so your question is null and void!!" I defended.

"Oh, I beg to differ because your anger seems to be ruining a good meal, your screams and all, should I take it that you're under the influence of alcohol or any substance?" she asked and I stared foolishly, my mind going blank as her questions swerved me off.
