CHAPTER 58

CHAPTER 58
It was already past eleven in the morning and Asher was nowhere to be found in the company. He clearly didn't show up at work today for reasons best known to him.

But Olivia was a bit restless, she has lost count on the number of times she left for the ladies room hoping to catch a glimpse of him on her way.

Sadly, whenever she passed by his office, the seat was always empty and void of a presence.

“Olivia.” Jade leaned down and whispered next to Olivia's ear.

It took only a second for Olivia to snap out of her daze. She cleared her throat and sat up on her seat as she returned her concentration back to the young man who was presenting a slide on the large projector screen for all the board members.

“Your presentation is a good one but there are minor changes I'd like to recommend. Or what do you all think?” She threw her last question to the board members.

“I think you're right. The investors won't be impressed with so many loopholes in the slides.” One of the older men suggested.

“I think that's all for today.” Olivia announced and stood up at once. “Thanks for your time.”

Jade burst out through the conference doors trying to catch up to Olivia who was surprisingly walking so fast on heels.

“Olivia, wait up. I noticed you were lost back there.” Jade muttered, breathless and still jogging a bit to be on pars with Olivia.

“If there's something bothering you, you can tell me.” She urged again, panting slightly

“I'm fine, Jade. I was feeling stuffy in there and all I needed was fresh air. You should get back to work, it's only two days left before the event.”

Jade nodded and stopped on her tracks but Olivia continued walking forward.

“Alright ma'am. Call me if you need anything.”

Olivia sighed beneath her breath when she heard Jade's voice ringing behind her. A corner of her lips moved up.

“Mother hen.” She whispered in-between a soft chuckle.
.
.
 Meanwhile..

The masculine figure on the bed shifted to the other end of the bed and after some seconds, his eyelids fluttered open.

He shut his eyes immediately after almost getting blinded by the bright light illuminating the room. He brought a hand to block his face from the direct sunlight meeting his face.

“I see you're up. Good morning sunshine.”

Asher turned his head to the door when he heard the familiar voice break in the room. He helped himself to sit up on the bed and soon after, his right hand travelled to the back of his head and a painful groan shoot through his lips.

“The fuck?” He groaned.

Agnes chuckled holding the little tray before him. She settled the tray on the nightstand table and picked up the glass of water and a bottle filled with white pills.

“Here you go, some painkillers to help with your hangover.” She offered him a pleasant smile and urged him to accept her kind and thoughtful offer.

Asher didn't think twice, he popped a pill into his mouth and drank all the water from the glass and presented it back to her which she happily collected from him.

“You were pretty drunk last night that you even passed out.”

Asher sighed hard. Be brought his left hand to his hair and brushed his fingers through it. Slowly, the image and chaos from last night started sinking in.

“I said a lot of shit, didn't I?”

“Yep.” Agnes confirmed as she reached a finger to his chest and touched him for a second. “But you're lucky that I'm in a good mood, young man. I forgive you and choose to blame everything on the alcohol.”

Asher's lips paused. He took a short glance around his room then returned his gaze back to Agnes.

“What time is it? I should be preparing for the office—”

“It's 11:30 Asher. You don't need to show up at work today.”

“What?!” Asher's eyes went wide. He suddenly rushed out of bed totally ignoring the pain shooting through his head at the moment.

Agnes was startled, she followed behind him as he approached his closet.

“What are you doing?”

“Why didn't you wake me up? I have to be at the—”

“You know that's a lie, Asher. You don't need to go back there.” She closed the gap between them and placed both hands on his chest. “Just take the day off and spend it with me. It's been a while since we've been all to ourselves.”

Asher's gaze locked down on hers for a few seconds before he walked away from her heading to the bathroom.

“Excuse me,”

Agnes gasped out in shock as she stared at his back disappearing behind the door.

“Ash—”

She swallowed the rest of her words and exhaled deeply.

“He's not going there for work. He's going over there to see that bitch!” Agnes cried out in defeat.

Olivia wasn't even putting in any effort to get Asher but she still had his attention. She has him wrapped around her fingers.

All she could do was to whine and sulk all to herself. Olivia hasn't made a drastic movement for her to make a double counter attack. It was clear from Asher's drunken words last night that he cared and loves Olivia.

He even mentioned it last night.

“How do I get her off Asher's tail? She's fucking irritating and annoying.” Agnes cried.

She paced around his room thinking of possible ways to get Olivia out of Asher's life for good.

“I shouldn't have allowed Asher go to that woman. I should have known better! How did I make such a foolish mistake as this? I pushed him to her without knowing it!”

Her eyes fell on the bathroom's door when she heard the water running. No matter what, she made up her mind to do everything she can possibly do to make him stay back with her.
