He held my hand as we walked out of his office. It was the usual; I was so overwhelmed that I forgot what the reality was. That's why, when he opened the door, I immediately removed his hand before someone caught us. He looked at me with surprise on his face, but I just smiled.
I was trying to save myself from Lethia. She was a psychopath; I didn't want her to search me from head to toe, and she'd know about my kids and then kill them. Damn it! I might be able to kill her in no time if she even touched my children's fingers. I swear, I would be a devil once she or the family of Smith touched one of my family.
He went first, but he wanted to reach for my hand, so I put it behind my back and smiled at him. I set our boundaries; there's a limitation, and maybe, just like his brother, he doesn't know how to be content with what I've hated so much.
Those in the meeting room bowed when the man entered, and I was seated by a woman away from the man. Raven glared at the man who placed me far away from him. What could be his problem? I thought it was about to start, but it wasn't yet because of Mr. Smith, Roux, and Lethia.
Where was Mrs. Smith?
I straightened my back while sitting with a stoic expression visible on my face. I saw how Roux froze in his chair when he scanned everyone and saw me. He gasped for air. Lethia snarled and focused on the reporter ahead. Everything has started, but I don't understand anything because the whole room seems to be crowded because they are here. No matter what I do to get them out of my mind, they are still there and laughing, so this part is hard for me. Damn it!
Until the end of the meeting, I didn't understand anything, even though Raven asked me several times if I agreed with it. I always ended up nodding my head. I didn't know, but I didn't know what to do either. It seemed like my mind went everywhere for reasons I didn't know, or maybe I knew what the reason was, yet I was still denying it until now.
"You're anxious," Raven pointed out. "Don't you want them to be here? I can send them out if you don't want to," he said without joking and straightforwardly. I was waiting for him to add a joke at the end, but he was really serious about his words.
"It's uncomfortable, but maybe I can handle it." I blurted, "It will be fine; you don't have to worry."
"But I don't want to see you uncomfortable, so I'll get rid of them," he claimed. I held his hand when he stepped, and he looked at it, so I immediately removed it, maybe because he had something malicious to think about.
"It's alright, Raven; they are investors too, so you don't have to favor me. I was able to face you, right?" I chuckled, even if it was not a humorous one; I just really wanted to get out of there right away.
"You mean...you feel awkward to them but not to me?" I nodded. "How dare you? It's unfair!" He demanded. "How could you say that casually as if I were just a nobody?"
"If you only knew how uncomfortable I am when we are together, how much I avoid you, and how I don't want to be with you, Your presence makes me sick, and I was afraid I might end up being pitiful. I hate that. I hate how soft I am, so I will avoid it as much as I can. But you're here, so I'll do all the pretending, just so you wouldn't even notice a bit."
A furrowed brow suddenly formed on his face.
"Can I leave? Someone is waiting for me." I raised an eyebrow at him, but he folded, so he just nodded.
"Who's waiting for you?"
"Do you care that much, Raven?" I chuckle. "Take care of Lethia. She must be furious seeing me." By the look of her face, for sure she was unhappy seeing me because she might think that I would steal her husband away from her. I waved my hand and went to the elevator. When I got in and there was no one, I punched my chest. "How dare you tighten like that? Did I allow you to feel that way?" I hissed.
When I got out, I immediately looked for my car; to my surprise, Lethia was there, and she must have been waiting for me.
"What do you need?" I preceded her in questioning; she scrutinized me from head to toe. I winced because it was as if she were investigating me.
"Tell me, why are you here? Do you want to seduce my husband?" A laugh suddenly came out of my mouth. How dare she accuse me when it was her thing?
"He's all yours, Lethia. I have no intention of taking leftovers." I fire back and gesture a sweet smile on my lips.
"Make sure that you are a woman of your word. Because when I find out that you two still have a relationship, you don't know what I can do." I smirked, but deep inside my heart was pounding so fast that I wanted to fight it all. I was afraid she might find out about Red and Rayden; it would be a big war, if ever.
"Do you think I was fond of your husband that much? He is all yours, Lethia. Chain him so he won't show me!"
"Just make sure, because I can kill you if you try to!"
"Why are you so afraid that I might take away your husband? Are you really that afraid of your own ghost, Lethia?" She was taken aback by what words I threw at her: "This is a pure business and nothing more." She glared at me and gritted her teeth. I lift my brow, and it's like I am done with all of her accusations of me.
"You are nothing compared to me, Cbiara! You remember that; you are nothing to me!" She spit out.
"Then why are you so threatened just like before if you are really better than me, Lethia? Why do you have to threaten me just to stay away from your husband's life?"
"You bitch!" She was about to give me a slap when I held her wrist. "Let me go!" I tightened my grip.
"Make sure your suspicions are right because I might do the things you are accusing me of. Be more afraid," I whispered, dropping her hand with all the force. Then I left her.
