I was confused by Raven's words, but I followed him anyway. My mind was still revolving around what the man had told me. What could that be? Why is it necessary for me to discover? I needed to know about it.
I tried to sneak into my father's room in the middle of the night, where everyone was busy with any kind of work. I was trying to open the door when I heard a word that came from the room. I also just noticed that it's a little bent.
"Look at the other corners here, and maybe he knows what he's being given to drink!" I heard one of my aunt's voices; then they also suspected Daddy's condition that they themselves did the work.
"He's clueless, Lucia; besides, Leon is a fool." Uncle John mocked my father; I couldn't believe what he was breathing. As far as I know, he is Daddy's favorite among his siblings because he is always with him in everything.
"You idiot! You're dumb as your brother John!" Aunt Lucia hissed. It looked like they were making Daddy drink something to make him sleep, so I quickly left there without them hearing me.
I need to know where the secret room is and what I need to see. I went to the other house and intended to wake Raven up, but he was awake. He was doing a push-up, his sweat was dripping on the floor because it looked like he had been exercising for a while. I gulped before I faked a cough to catch his attention, and fortunately, I did it without trying hard.
"Oh," he said as he stood up and wiped his sweat with his towel. I could hardly look at him because suddenly something popped up in my head that I tried to shake off. Damn! Why does it have to be like this for everyone's destiny? "You are here; I bet you want to enter."
My eyes widened, “how jerk you are?!” I exclaimed.
“The room.” He added, my face is red. Damn! Am I trying to embarrass myself?
"I do." I was looking at the view inside his room and just couldn't go to him because I was afraid. Fear was evidence in my chest that I would cross over to things that were forbidden. You were right then; will I do it again?
"I'll just change," he said goodbye to me. I sat on a chair made of wood. I only appreciate the surroundings now that it's night and there are dim lights, not too bright so as not to hurt the eyes. I just saw that the ambiance around here every night is fantastic since it is filled with lights.
It's cold outside; in the few days I've been outside every night, I've only felt it now. Maybe because I was too busy with my business these past few days, I didn't feel it much, but now I can feel it. Anyway, I didn't wait that long when he came, so I stood up and immediately followed him.
It was like we were hiding something; he was in front while I was in the back, trying to spy if there was someone who was following us. Luckily, there's no one that I've noticed, which I hope is true, so I just ran on tiptoe so I wouldn't be heard.
"Shh, you're only here because I need to get your key," he whispered, so I just nodded. That's all I could do because I didn't know what Raven would do. I was just going with the flow. "You stay here no matter what," he reminded me.
I held the edge of his polo and said, "You'll be quick." I want him to assure me, I'm not sure if I'm just here because we don't know what will happen next.
"I will." He removed my hand even though I was holding it tightly. I'm nervous; I have a strange feeling that he might get hurt, and that's what I want to avoid.
I shut my eyes and prayed that hard. I was chewing my inner cheek, trying to avoid what I felt. I shouldn't be acting like this, not now. I need to be strong instead of showing that I just don't have it all.
I waited, feeling monotonous at the same time I was eating my nails. The man was leisurely; where was he? I wanted to follow him, but before I could think, the light in the living room switched on, so I had to move to another place.
Damn it! I was peeking at them when I saw that the maid who was with Raven was bound and looked like she was going to be thrown. My eyes widened, and I was thinking about something because of the incident that I witnessed. My heart pounded so loud, especially when a hand covered my mouth. I tried to fight, but hearing his voice calmed me down.
"This is me." His voice was so expressive that I knew who it was. I didn't move even slightly because at that time I dedicated everything to Raven. Even though I didn't look, I knew it was really him, so I breathed a sigh of relief.
"What do we do?" I panicked when we went to the room that was abandoned. "What do we do next? It looks like they've heard our steps."
"I know." My forehead knotted when his voice suddenly changed. I heard a switch on, and I stepped backward when I saw that Uncle John was the one with me. I looked around, and there were almost only paintings.
"U-uncle," I stumbled to call him, and he smirked while crossing his arms at his chest.
"Did I surprise you, my niece?" My knees were like rubber, and my feet were frozen at where I am right now. I couldn't move no matter what I did. "Don't be afraid of me; this is me, your uncle John." I shook my head side by side. A tremor suddenly felt unease.
"Don't come near me," I warned him. "You won't like it when I get mad!"
"And you won't like it either when I'm mad," he vocalized, so I only backed away even more, until my back could feel a shiver because of the wall.
I was cornered. How could I escape it?
"Don't you dare, John!" I squealed. "Don't you try to step!"
"What? What are you going to do, Cbiara? Are you a fighter like your father?" He walked closer to me. "Do you want us to do the same thing we did to your father, huh?" He challenged me and held my elbow.
"What did you do to Daddy?" I met his playful smirk with a burning desire to step him down. My breathing is so fast that I want to punch his smug face.
