Chapter 103

Chapter 103
Elly's POV

“Really? Did he really say that?” I asked, surprised.

Aidan nodded, throwing a chunk of waffles into his mouth and crunching with all his heart. Watching him feel so much at ease was a breath of fresh air. It wasn't over yet, but I knew we could trust Professor Rockwell. He would do everything to make sure we were safe.

“Are the others aware?”

“Yes, I spoke to them already. I trust you won't share it with your girls.” He said airily and I drew a deep breath.

Aidan frowned and looked straight into my eyes. “What?” I asked back, studying his expression for cues.

“Are you alright?” he asked, the frown still on his face.

“I am. Why?”

Aidan chuckled softly, still crunching on the waffles in his hand. “That was a deep breath you took there, you know?”

“Did I scare you?” I asked, chuckling softly.

“You bet.”

“Then how about some sugar?” I teased.

Aidan furrowed his brows in surprise then a smile spread across his face. “That's my atonement offering.” I added.

The dude took two quick steps toward me until his hands were safely around my waist. I stifled a laugh just as his lips brushed gently against mine, then seized my lips in a breathless kiss. I gasped in surprise and grabbed his shoulders, but I immediately fell into step with him and wrapped my hand over his neck.

First, I tasted the waffles in his breath, his lips and his tongue. Whoever taught Aidan how to kiss sure did us a solid.

His mouth, coupled with the way his hand slid down my arm felt so good. So good. Just like the night in Lady Olivia's house.

I whimpered. The sound must've been a trigger because he pressed me hard against the wall. Then his left hand caressed my cheek while his right hand never left my waist, pulling me against him.

The second had been better than the first and I believed that the third might make the second look like a joke. This might be our third time if no one walked in on us.

Speaking of anyone, Ophelia should be on her way to the music room. I'd let her in on where to find me. With that in mind, I came to my senses. Not intentionally.

“Aidan,” I murmured on his lips, hating to, but pushing him slightly away.

“What?” He murmured back, snatching my lips again. He didn't want to let go, neither did I, but we had to.

“Aidan, listen,” I started as he planted kisses on my cheeks, my neck and snaked his lips towards my cleavage.

A gasp escaped my lips as the wetness of his mouth met the hard tip of my nip. I squeezed my eyes shut, wondering for a second if I really cared about being caught.

I knew that any delay in Ophelia's part might result in Aidan and I ripping each other's clothes off and making out under the light of the music room. Did I want that? No, but did I care? Absolutely not.

Just then, every element worked against us.

“Are you ready?” Ophelia's voice broke the silence of the evening, and we both tore away from each other like two kids caught being bad.

The tension in the air was palpable as Ophelia looked from Aidan to me and back to him. There was no way she wouldn't tell what had happened before she waltzed in.

I could feel my heart palpitate, but why? I was at liberty to do anything I wanted, it's not like I was a preschooler.

Oh, hi Aidan.” Ophelia greeted, trying to sound casual.

Aidan only waved, snatched his waffles from where he'd dumped it and resumed munching on it while Ophelia and I excused ourselves out.

I was glad things hadn't spiralled out of control, which is why I appreciated Ophelia stepping in. I took a deep breath as we sprinted out, Ophelia walking behind me.

“You mind telling me what the hell you two did back there?” She asked after we'd gone some distance from the hall.

“Nope.” I replied without turning to look at her.

“Why?”

“Because we didn't do anything.” I answered, pulling a stray strand of hair to the fold.

“That's untrue, I'm certain I caught his lips tracing down your lady hill.” Ophelia said, her voice sounding soft but firm and mischievous.

I thought about what she said, and decided she must've picked up something.

“Did you?” I quizzed, still not looking at her. It was better than way. Ophelia had a way of hypnotizing people.

“Yea.”

“Then let's keep it between us.”

She giggled, leapt up in the air and asked, “So, you're really not going to tell me how it felt?”

I rolled my eyes. She won't let it sleep, will she?
“Did I moan or make a sweet face?”

She thought for a second. “I didn't see that but I guess you liked it.”

“Then he was good.” I said, turning to her with a note of finality.

Ophelia stifled a mischievous smile, giggled and ran off.

When we both sauntered into our room, I didn't think anything looked out of place until Ophelia pointed out some objects I'd ignored

“Why are there strange bags here?”

Maggie, who was folding her clothes, looked over her shoulder and answered, “We have a new roommate.”

“New roommate?” Ophelia repeated, glancing in my direction.

“How's that possible?” I asked with a frown.

“The council found an unlucky girl.” Maggie said, and walked away, soaking the air in nostalgia.

“Yea right, why did they leave four bunks if they had no intention of filling it with someone else.” Ophelia croaked, more like a statement than a question.

I'd often wondered what the council’s intention was. In this case I have no idea who I was referring to. The school had an administrative arm, but who were they? All we saw was Dr. Myles and Principal Legrange as the face of the board.

Nothing much had been done for the boys who risked their lives to save the planet. I agree it was my fault so I need no accolades, but what about Aidan, and the rest who nearly lost their lives in the past? I guess no one really cared.

“Where's she?” I asked, looking around.

Her bag was on the vacant bunk, but she was missing. She couldn't have class, it was evening already.

“In the bathroom.” Maggie answered, sounding like she would appreciate it if I left her alone.

I didn't blame her, seeing a new girl in a situation we all were only months ago must be hard to bear. I was going to let her be, but not Ophelia.

“In the bathroom? Doing what?” Ophelia asked sharply.

Maggie nodded at me with a long face. “Exactly what she did when she first arrived.

I felt flustered, my eyes teared up and my mouth went dry. “How? How did you?” I asked, surprised.

“Did you think we didn't know?” Ophelia asked, her countenance growing sad. “I knew, because I'd done the same.”

Something hit my chest and it was painful. Should we talk to her? Would knowing that she wasn't alone soothe her a notch?

I should've known who she was. My hindsight’s now twenty twenty.
