Chapter Thirty-Nine
Chapter Thirty-Nine
~Elias~
(BACK TO PRESENT)
I haven't had the chance to talk to Mira and Isla for days now since that incident at the office. On a normal day, they would have come into my room but I haven't even set my eyes on them. And today, I was going to find them.
I need to apologize.
They had been nothing but good friends to me and I didn't want to fuck it up. I was good as gone if we stopped talking.
Nothing special had happened since I returned from the human community. My days had returned to their usual routine—though lately, I had taken an interest in basketball. I had taken my time to wander around the palace even though I got curious stares, I saw a lot of things I didn’t imagine to be here.
The palace was huge with a lot of activities. I couldn’t believe I was just getting to know after one month. Not wanting to be bored, I enrolled in a basketball training that was made for the vampires.
And for Lucien—-
“Clears throat.”
It had been great. As much as he had been busy, he had been trying to make time for me. He would come back at night or sometimes, midnight and cuddle me on my bed. I was sure his room would have missed his presence since he used mine most of the time. He still hadn’t given in and made love to me since that day, he had been restraining himself as much as I was doing also.
I sighed deeply as I made my way into the kitchen. My eyes traveled all around the big space and they were nowhere to be found. Mira and Isla couldn’t be anywhere else by this time of the day.
My heart quickened at their absence. I hoped in my heart it wasn’t what I was thinking.
Was that why Lucien had been extra caring?
Did he fire them?
So many thoughts ran through my head at that moment until someone walked toward me, snapping me from my thoughts.
My fingers curled together—it was Celeste.
It was no new thing that she didn’t like me. In fact, I disgusted her. All because I was human. She was friends with Mira and Isla but she stopped being friends with them.
She had this bad aura that made me uncomfortable every time I came across her.
“What are you doing here?”
I gulped hard at her chilly voice. “Uhmm—I can’t find Mira and Isla.”
“Then get out?”
“Huh?”
What the hell?
“Can you not be rude?” I raised my brows at her with a frown on my face.
Celeste scoffed hard, “Useless human, Mira and Isla? They are gone, and it’s your fault.”
I wanted to say more.
Wanted to insult her but I couldn’t. I heard the worst thing ever. What did she mean by my friends aren’t here anymore?
My throat burned.
My eyes watered with unshed tears.
This was all Lucien’s fault.
How was I supposed to live in this palace?
Celeste hissed and was about to turn away when Jae appeared. Even though I was saddened by the news, my eyes didn’t escape the faint blush on her face when Jae appeared in the dining room. She hurriedly went to the kitchen and adjusted her clothes, pushed her boobs out so they could be visible before she carried the tray, and headed outside.
I creased my brows in confusion. I watched as she bent low and placed the tray in front of Jae. Jae’s lips curled into a faint smile and while I thought he was going to dismiss her.
He—he stretched his hands forward and cupped her boobs. My eyes widened in confusion, what was going on here?
Is it normal to do this?
If it was normal, Celeste wouldn’t be cautiously checking around to see if someone was seeing the little interaction. Jae continued to fondle her boobs through her fabric and I would have loved to watch more if not that I had pressing matters to deal with.
I immediately walked away. I had just one mission—to look for Lucien.
I sighed deeply as I closed his study room, he wasn’t there. I had no idea of where else he could be but I didn’t give up. I had to bring my friends back or I leave also.
Not long after I started to aimlessly stroll around the palace, my eyes caught him in the distance. His frame almost made me forget whatever I had in mind. I was supposed to be furious. But the second I saw him, I forgot how to breathe.”
He looked extremely beautiful from a distance as he placed his hands backward and listened to Nyx. They could be mistaken for each other as they looked similar but there was just something about Lucien that made him standout.
He was taller and more muscular than Nyx. I had no time to feed on his beauty so I immediately shook my head and walked toward them.
“Uhmm—“ I muttered as a guard stopped me from getting close to my man…sorry…Lucien. I scrunched my face together, “Sorry, I want to see Lucien.”
The guard’s eyes narrowed, “He is King Lucien!”
He gritted his teeth and I gulped hard. I was about to turn around when I heard his voice.
“Elias.”
My eyes snapped to him, his eyes were staring at me with intensity. He signaled with his fingers to the guard, indicating to let me pass.
As soon as I reached over, Lucien pulled me closer to his chest with his hands wrapped over my waist. My face reddened out of embarrassment. It wasn’t enough that I had become the topic since that day I interrupted a fight.
Lucien’s gaze softened, he rubbed his thumb against my cheeks and he was about to talk when Nyx cleared his throat dramatically.
I quickly turned my head to him and bowed slightly, “Pardon my manners, Young Master Nyx”.
I had been so engrossed with Lucien that I forgot to say my greetings to someone as important as him.
Lucien turned my head back to him, “You don’t have to greet him, Elias.”
Nyx spoke up, his voice a bit firm. “What are you teaching him?”
I held Lucien’s chest tightly, fondling with his buttons.
“Lucien—“
“What’s on your mind? You need something?” Nyx interrupted and my mouth opened slightly. I had no idea if he cared about me or if he just wanted me to stop disturbing them.
Lucien’s eyes narrowed, “Why don’t you mind your business, Nyx?”
“What’s the problem, boy?”
I pressed my lips into a thin line. I was supposed to be sulking.
“Uhmm—My friends…”
He raised his eyebrows.
“I can’t find them anywhere. You fired them.”
Nyx shook his head and rested his back on the wall, looking bored.
Lucien sighed deeply, “Do you know the punishment for accusing one wrongly?”
I gulped hard.
“You—you are not the one?”
He held me tightly, “I wish I had done that. Your friends might just be somewhere else, Elias.”
I squinted my eyes and pointed my fingers at him, “You are lying.”
“Seriously? I should fire them since you are choosing them over me.”
I rolled my eyes, feeling relief that my friends were still somewhere in the palace.
“You deserve it.”
Before I knew what was happening, Lucien leaned forward, his scent hitting my nose hard, and then—he kissed me.
His tongue swirl around my lips, sucking them like there were sweets. My fingers curled against each other, I leaned in to respond when he bit my lips and then pulled back.
My eyes widened in anger.
“You—!”
“How about you both blind me?” Nyx scoffed hard but no one paid attention to him.
I glared at Lucien, “That wasn’t nice…”
“Seriously? I thought you missed me when I saw you but instead, you came to fight me because of your friends.”
I twitched my mouth. He wasn’t wrong.
“Still!”
“I hate you, Lucien!”
His hands loosened around me as he chuckled deeply, staring at me like I was some joker. Taking advantage of that, I pulled away from his grasp and began to run from him.
“Slow down, Elias!”
His deep voice sounded behind me.
