Jessica's kidnap

Jessica's kidnap
DAVID'S POV

My eyes darted the whole surrounding, its vibe was off. This didn't seem like a battle between I and victor or even grudge, from the front, with every heat that emanated and dust that blew at us — I knew for sure, another party was involved.

With wavering focus as my gun pointed at Victor, my heart raced and then click…

The final shot that brought me to conclusion. Jessica!

My breath hitched, body stiffened and as if victor had sensed it too, his guard dropped, the wall he had built around him while we pointed guns at each other suddenly loosed, almost as if there were no walls, his stance weakened as he lowered his gun.

I looked around and did the same, our eyes locking onto each other with words unsaid but still… as if we conveyed just more than words while not speaking.

The tension hung up in the air, fear gripped me. Was she safe?

Without spending another second, I walked out at a very fast pace — I didn't mind tripping, all I focused on was going to the dock to see if she remained on the ship. I clicked my earpiece.

“Lucas.. wanna check where Jessica Is?“

“We're about to report to you sir, she's missing and some guys are here, all in black — we doubt they're Victor's men.“ I gritted my teeth, frustration boiling from within me. I turned only to meet Victor an inch far from me, I shifted uncomfortably; there was no time for him right now.

I hissed. “Your men on black?“

“Nah.“ He replied, still keeping his had tight to the other arm.

“Oh shit!!! Shit!! Shoot!“ I grunted as I walked to the iron gate and knocked my hands off it roughly and repeatedly, I wasn't even stopping while it bruised until Victor's voice cut in the rushing heat of regret, cold — calming, even almost soothing but he was serious, he meant it.

“Would you rather bruise yourself to weakness than start to check for possibilities on her whereabouts?“ He was right. I retreated, turning to him, lips trembling. I followed him as he walked, bus hands not leaving his wounded arm. I ran up to him, tore a part of my rounded t-shirt and tied it around the arm after removing the bullet with a nail and stick I saw in the bush before we headed back to his hideout.

My gaze never left him. Why was he doing this? He was being nice? Or did I … wait! Was I walking into a trap?

Now conflicted, I forced my breath to be regular, hiding my fear while a lot of questions ran through my mind.

Ahem! He coughed, stopped in his tracks and faced me while he used his arms to put me in position so that we stared at each other — as though we were or would be conversing.

“You found love, huh? Seeing she risks even her fragile self for you.“ I shifted uncomfortably.

He stopped, the moment of silence becoming awkward for us both until he spoke up.

“She's stubborn and I love her fights.“ He teased, almost mockingly but I feared.

“It was supposed to be the last fight. Where you die and I am free. Free to love and live like a regular human, not living by mother's wishes.“ I hissed, as I felt even the strings of my own words once I mentioned mother and her wishes. My mind drifted to the diaries, she had written most while so sick and the words she had imprinted in it, already faint and almost fading and to the son she had written most with still believes they are sheer manipulation.

“Doesn't change the fact you killed your mother. It doesn't change the fact that you're guilt ridden and left with no choice but to meet her wishes. But what is it now? The guilt trapped man feeling burdened and wanting to escape from everything with the illusion mother would lay sick and write those things — just vivid imagination!“ His voice was more than normal, Ice cold and dreadful.

“Victor… I..“ I tried to convince him, I had nothing with my mother's death, I would never have dreamt killing her. How do I just sit him down and explain to her already cold victor that I was never burdened or even troubled by mother's wishes but this brother to brothers fight. Tears welled up in my eyes, threatening to fall but I fought against it, taking my eyes off his gaze.

“Shushhhh!“ He shunned me, I stayed quiet, surprised yet curious. What was he planning to do?

“We're here to find Jessica not to think of old stings. You can do that later, and I will kill soon after.“ His words sliced through the earth with dread, and an almost murderous vibe. Well, it was — able to slit my throat.

“Victor..“ I mouthed, almost losing the rigid balance I had feigned just to try battling against him and now, I lost it all over he opened the door to the hideout and mouthed.

“We'd strategize fast and then we onboard all capable men so it's faster.“

I measured my gaze up with his, but the eyes was never soft even for a second, and so I wondered, was he this tense? Cold — and hardened?

We sat by a round table, a map laid out neatly in front of us as we studied every hideout and abandoned house in the area right from the dock to the end of the city. She couldn't have left the place on her own right?

Victor stood from the chair, I followed suit, pacing but he rose with no restriction except from the chair brushing against the tiled floor and scraping it in a less worrisome sound.

He walked to another room arranged with systems, he sat my one and I moved a chair towards him to sit, I knew nothing about this area and so I needed much of his help. I took my lips in and bit it.

“Ah shit! Poor connection.“ Victor cursed as he smacked his lips and clicked on the computer's keypad.

“Turn on the server from your end.“ I obliged and set it on.

With eyes scanning, I watched closely as it was only the keyboard clicks that sounded in the room, the rest was heavy breath, mind racing
.

And once we caught the light. Aha..

Bingo!! Location found!
