One Hundred & Thirty Eight
One Hundred & Thirty Eight
Darius’s eyes narrowed, every muscle in his body taut.
The air in the room seemed to thicken, heavy with tension. He had waited years for answers, and now his uncle’s words were finally spilling ou… but they carried a venom that cut sharper than any blade.
“Your dad… that arrogant son of a bitch refused to give me the shares I needed for an investment,” Lorenzo said, his eyes going cold, hard. “That bastard thought he could block me, stop me from taking what I was owed, what was rightfully mine . I told him it would cost him… everything. But he refused. And I had to make a choice.”
Darius felt his blood run cold, a sick realization creeping into his chest. Choice. That word. He knew what it meant. He had suspected it,he knew his uncle wanted the company but not enough to kill for it but hearing it, watching the flicker in Lorenzo’s face, the truth hit like a punch to the gut.
“You… you killed them because of that?” Darius’s voice was low, hoarse, barely holding back the rage that threatened to tear him apart.
Lorenzo’s lips curved in a bitter, almost amused smile. “I did what I had to, Darius. Your father was weak, selfish… he couldn’t see the bigger picture. I made sure the shares would come to me, and I made sure nothing stood in my way. Not even him… not even you.”
Darius staggered back, disbelief and fury warping his features. His hands curled into fists so tight his nails dug into his palms. “You killed … my parents… my family… my sister… for shares? For money?”
Lorenzo’s eyes didn’t waver. “Yes. And don’t think I regret it. It was the only way to secure power, to survive. You’re too emotional to understand, Darius. Too soft. That’s why you always struggled and failed to have Matteo killed when you had to.”
Darius’s chest heaved, rage and grief mixing into a storm he couldn’t contain. His knees nearly buckled, but he forced himself to stand tall. “You call that surviving? That’s murder. That’s betrayal. That’s… that’s unforgivable.”
Lorenzo leaned back, as if bored with the argument, but his eyes stayed sharp, calculating. “You think you’re in a position to punish me, boy? You’re still just a child playing at revenge. I’ve been ahead of you since day one. And now… you know the truth. What will you do with it?”
Darius’s vision blurred with anger and pain. Every memory, every lesson, every moment of trust in his uncle felt like a knife twisting in his chest. He wanted to scream. He wanted to hit. He wanted to make Lorenzo pay in every way imaginable.
But beneath the anger, a cold, dangerous clarity began to take hold. His grief and fury sharpened into focus. This ends now.
“You made your choice,” Darius said, voice steady, low, deadly. “And now… you’ll pay for it. Every last second of it.”
Lorenzo’s lips twitched, but the amusement was gone, replaced by something else… hate.
Darius stepped closer, eyes locked on his uncle’s, heart pounding. “I won’t stop until justice is mine. You hear me? And you’re going to feel every ounce of pain you’ve caused.”
Lorenzo’s cold mask faltered, just for a moment, and Darius knew that moment would haunt him forever. The reckoning had come. And Darius was ready to see it through… no mercy, no hesitation, no turning back.
Darius’s heart stopped. His hand shook slightly on the gun, the cold metal heavy in his grip. The words hit him like a thunderclap.
“Amara… she’s with me,” Lorenzo said, voice smooth, but venomous.
Darius’s chest tightened. His eyes narrowed, searching his uncle’s face for any sign of deception. “Don’t you dare lie to me,” he growled, his voice low, dangerous. “I know she went to the airport. I know she got on a flight. You don’t have her.”
Lorenzo tilted his head, a cruel smile tugging at his lips. “Oh, I assure you, boy… I do.”
Time seemed to freeze. Rage, panic, and fear warred inside him. Every nerve in his body screamed at him to act, to shoot, to end Lorenzo here and now… but one thought froze him in place.. Amara.
“You touch her, or try anything funny, and I swear…” Darius’s voice broke slightly, but the deadly promise was clear. He wasn’t bluffing.
Lorenzo’s eyes glinted with cold amusement. “Calm down, boy. She’ll stay safe… as long as you do exactly what I say. Step out of line, and she won’t see another sunrise.”
Darius’s hand tightened on the gun, knuckles white, but he didn’t pull the trigger. Not yet. His mind raced… every plan, his revenge, everything he had prepared… felt useless if Amara was in Lorenzo’s hands.
“You think you can control me with threats?” Darius hissed, his voice low, trembling with barely contained fury. “You don’t scare me.”
Lorenzo chuckled, a cold, hollow sound that made the hairs on Darius’s neck stand up. “Oh, I don’t need to scare you, Darius. I just need you to understand… one wrong move, and she’s Boom! gone. Forever.”
Darius’s chest heaved. His eyes never left his uncle’s, burning with rage, fear, and desperation all at once. He realized there was only one thing he could do… he had to find her.
“Where is she?” he demanded, voice shaking with intensity.
Lorenzo leaned back slightly, enjoying the moment. “She’s in the house , my dear boy… but you’ll have to figure out yourself where. And trust me, you’ll have to move fast if you want her back.”
Darius’s jaw clenched so tight it ached.
He lowered the gun but kept his eyes locked on Lorenzo. Every step he would take from here on out would be for her… Amara. And he swore, with every fiber of his being, that he would make his uncle pay with his blood.
