CHAPTER 104: DRINKING TISA'S CUP
Tessa was hurt badly as she limped out of the burning house. She couldn't think straight right now but as she looked back at her burning warehouse, she remembered how she had started.
It was heartbreaking how she watched something she had built with her sweet tears burn to ashes in front of her and do nothing about it.
Tessa continued moving as fast as she could. She knew that anywhere there was danger, Talia was there.
She had gone through the back door after fighting with Rox who wanted her in the fire. Rox was ready to die if only Tessa died with her.
Tessa was on the run but because of the injury on her leg, she couldn't run further. She walked through the empty, open strength barefooted, limping, and looking like a typical burnt offering.
She was hurting badly and she needed money to get some first aid for herself or the wound would get infected.
The first pharmacy she stopped at, everyone ran away from her and the woman refused to attend to her since she was with no money. Tessa was a bit frustrated, she had no money and all she was asking for was help. Was that difficult?
She trekked with her injured leg to the next pharmacy which had pity on her and gave her the materials she could use. No one wanted to touch her, not while she looked like she was coming from the world war.
The weather wasn't great either as she walked past some smokers at the corner while she looked for the perfect place to mend her wounds.
Thankfully, it was dark so she didn't have to bother about people looking at her or what they thought.
She had carefully for the past few days avoided the media and everything concerning them. She found an abandoned house that was quite close to the burnt warehouse. She was devastated about another burning.
She had to nurse her wounds with the few materials she had gotten. She didn't know the name of those drugs that had been given to her but they had assured her that she would feel better when she had used them.
She had no choice at the moment but to help herself. As she applied those ointments to her foot, she cried out in pain..she was grateful it was an abandoned place so she had no problem shutting her mouth.
As she went on with applying the ointment, she thought of Drelo. The last time she had seen him was the day before and he was in such bad shape. Now, she was afraid to go anywhere since Talia believed she was dead and could come after her if she wasn't.
The only time for her to get to the hospital unseen was now. This night when no one cared about who was walking on the road. Of course, it was dangerous to walk on the road this late but she was willing to take the risk for her safety.
When she gets to the hospital, what happens? A donor has still not been found for Nita's son so going to the hospital made no sense.
Whatever it would take her, she had to see her little boy or she might go crazy, if she didn't. She would seek into the hospital if need be. She was cold but she managed to sleep off for a few minutes before she heard a sound in the bushes around the abandoned house.
She kept quiet as she managed to carry herself up to hide but it was too late. Whoever it was had already seen her shadow. “Who the hell are you?”
At first, Tessa thought that hiding for long would make them leave but it didn't. In minutes, they had encircled her with guns and knives. She didn't know who they were but she dared not look up or she might be killed.
“Here you are, fool.” A deep voice said, approaching her in the dark. Who was the man who was referring to her as a fool, someone who must have died in the fire?
She was too afraid to look up and her back was turned against them so how did they see her face and call her a fool? She still didn't make a move as she was hoping that whoever they were, they would leave her alone and go away but they didn't.
“Don't you dare look down when I speak to you, fool. Don't you miss me? Come on, look up, baby.” The first voice continued.
Tessa knew she couldn't keep up by just looking down. If truly these men were dangerous, then she was in a big mess already. So she quietly stood up from where she had been sitting and looked at the face of the man who owned the voice.
“Why do you look like a mess? Did you get into a fight?” The strange man asked. From what her surroundings suggest, she believed these people were after someone and because she looked like them, after all, they were relatives, they thought she was the one.
“I'm sorry, I'm not her, I'm her sister, Tessa,” Tessa whined in pain as the man grabbed her neck.
“Do you think this is a joke or probably a show? Where did you run off to? And what is this tumid lie about not being Tisa, who the fuck is Tessa?”
Tessa knew that whoever he was, she was in big trouble. She remembered that her sister mentioned that she had grown up in a brothel so maybe this was one of the men who wanted her.
“I'm sorry, I'm not lying to you. Please set me free, I'm not the one you're looking for.” The mean-looking man finally let go of her neck and she gasped for air.
Tessa was sick and tired of everything. She wished she could run but these men were dangerous and she could get herself shot or even killed.
“Take her away. She's coming with us.” This was the last sentence they made before they bundled her into their car.
