Chapter 94 Show Interest

Chapter 94 Show Interest
\[Grant’s POV\]

I stare at my father as he watches me, his gaze darkening from the anger he is working to hold back, but even then, I don’t back down.

For years, I was an obedient son. I did what was expected of me. I tried my damndest to get this mans approval, until I learned the truth.

He wasn’t a man that would ever accept anyone unless they would do what it was that he wanted.

Even now, that was exactly what he was doing with Rachel. He was using her as a pawn to try to get me beneath his thumb, but that wasn’t going to work.

I would be damned if I ended up there or like any of the others that he managed to win over.

“Grant,” the man in question says slowly. “How could you say such a thing about her? Do you know how that makes her look?”

“Do you know how having her follow you around all the time makes her look?” I challenge. “Do you really think people aren’t talking?”

I didn’t miss the murmurs in the crowd. I didn’t miss the stares and the looks of amusement because everyone was convinced that my father was fucking my future wife. It disgusted me, but even then I just kept quiet. However, now that I had Gianna beside me, I needed to nip all these rumors and threats in the bud if I wanted to protect her and our child.

“You should just go ahead and make them true.”

“Grant!” Rachel gasps, her eyes widening. “How can you say such things?”

As she speaks, she moves forward and when her hand lifts and I’m certain she is going to try to touch me, Gianna reaches out and grabs her wrist.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Rachel demands, shooting her a glare. “You dare touch me?”

“You tried touching him.” Gianna smirks. “So, yes, I touched you.”

Smirking, I find myself falling for Gianna all over again as she openly asserts her dominance.

“Who gives you the right?” Rachel growls, pulling free. “Do you know who I am?”

“I don’t care,” Gianna shrugs. “I don’t care if you’re the queen of England. You tried to touch what is mine and that isn’t okay, so, I suggest that you mind your actions.”

“Grant,” my fathers rumbles. “You better teach your wife properly where her place is.”

“She knows,” I tell him, pulling Gianna closer. “Her place is right here beside me, and since it seems like we aren’t going to get anywhere and I’ve told you what I wanted, we will be taking our leave.”

“Grant!” My father snaps, but I begin to turn and then head toward the stairs. Only when we reach, do I turn and take in the man who is watching me in disbelief.

“I plan on openly announcing my marriage.” I tell him and I feel Gianna stiffen. “There is a business banquet coming up for the merging of our company and Gianna’s modeling agency. I do believe it is the perfect place to do it.”

“GRANT!” My father roars, but I just turn and start moving again.

“Grant, are you sure all of this is okay?” Gianna asks when we reach the bottom of the stairs. “I mean, our relationship is only contractual.”

“Even then, I don’t want you to feel uneasy.” I tell her. “And you’re carrying my heir. How can I allow others to treat you the way Rachel did?”

“That…” Gianna begins, but I simply shake my head.

“You are my woman. Grant Holdin’s woman and is such no one will be walking all over you, do you hear me?”

I grow quiet and wait while Gianna takes in what I have said and from the look in her eyes, I can tell that she is hesitant to agree.

How can I make her feel more secure? I wonder and then I immediately kick myself because I’m the reason she is like this. I went about all of this the wrong way, but I would show her one way or another.

“Come on,” I say now. “Let’s go home.”

Nodding, Gianna allows me to lead her out of the mansion and my car.

Once inside, we start to move and I know that this is the time that I should probably tell her about my grandfather’s coming to live with us. I was certain she wouldn’t like this news, but it was better to give her a heads up before it happened.

“Gianna,” I say now, drawing her gaze from the window. “There’s something I should tell you.”

“You’re dumping me?” She asks, raising a brow. “You have a secret identity?”

“Not hardly,” I chuckle. “I am a man of my word and I don’t see any reason to lie about anything. Honesty is the best policy in my opinion and it is because I live by this that I should let you know that my grandfather will be coming to stay with us for the time being.”

“What?” Gianna gasps, her eyes widening. “What did you just say?”

“He’s sick,” I explain. “And I don’t trust him alone with his current condition.”

“But your father…”

“Doesn’t give two shits about his well being.” I finish for her. “That man doesn’t give a damn about anyone but himself.”

“I see,” Gianna murmurs and I find myself wondering what she is thinking. “Grant, can you tell me about him?”

At Gianna’s question, I feel a wave of shock rush through because out of all the things she could have said she chose that.

“Are you interested in me and my upbringing now?” I ask and she gives me a look.

“Not particularly, but it was easy to tell that yours and your fathers relationship wasn’t the best.”

“That’s an understatement,” I sigh, stopping at a redlight. “We barely have a relationship, but since I am my grandfather’s grandson, I have a right to be the CEO of AandD Industries.”

“Aren’t you younger than Anthony?”

“I am,” I confirm. “And because of that, Anthony should have been the next in line, but things happened.”

“Things,” Gianna repeats. “Could you elaborate a bit please?”

“I can,” I tell her. “But are you sure you’re ready for that much history dumping?”

“Well,” she shrugs. “The ride back is a bit far. You can fill it with your story.”
