Chapter 63 Follow The Trail

Chapter 63 Follow The Trail
Dante's POV

The storm of bullets startled me, hitting me in a way that seemed to something off me.

I got up instantly, nearly hitting Serena off me. She straightened up with her hand on my shoulders and looked pretty confused.

I looked down between us and noticed my dick still resting between her wet pussy. I felt like asking questions, but another rain of bullets jolted me again.

I gave Serena a look and like it woke her up, she immediately pulled herself back, freeing my cock.

Then she climbed down slowly, picking up her trousers from the ground and pulling them on.

I searched and found my shirt somewhere a bit far off then quickly grabbed it, throwing it on before putting my shorts on and tucking my shirt properly as it should be.

I didn't know where the shooting was coming from, but I knew we had to be on alert.

By the time I had my shirt on, I turned to Serena and she had her top and trousers all on and was trying to arrange her hair or so it looked.

I immediately pulled her by her hand towards the entrance. “No time for all these, we need to go make sure everyone's good at home!” I yelled as I got us moving.

“We had gone a few feet when I realized I wasn't with my phone. I immediately turned around and caught sight of the small light still shining over where we were.

I dashed back and picked it up, not bothering to check it out as I rushed to the exit with the light on.

Serena and I exited the cave seconds later and dashed past the statues on our way to the narrow road.

Halfway through the path, my phone in hand began buzzing. My first thought was to ignore it, but something led me to check it out at least.

So I lifted the phone to my eyes while still running, but stopped immediately I saw the caller.

“What is it?” Serena asked as she too had stopped.

“It's Nico,” I replied before answering the call.

Nico's voice boomed out immediately while being shadowed by continuous firing.

“Don! Where are you?!” He shouted through the phone.

“I'm close! What's going on?!” I shouted back to get him to hear.

“Some men showed up and blew up the house and are now firing at us!” He explained.

“Shit,” I cursed, knowing it was the same explosion we had heard from earlier.

“Get here quick, we need to move! I don't know how long we can hold them back!” He replied and the line went dead.

I stood frozen for a second or two, cursing myself for letting my guard down in a strange land after being shot down as an entrance gift.

“Dante, what happened?” Serena asked while trying to catch her breath.

“We need to go,” I replied, moving ahead of her.

“Wait, please. I need to catch my breath,” she replied.

“You heard the gunshots right?” I asked with a higher tone. “Your mother is in the midst of it and her house just got bombed with her in it,” I added sharply.

“Shit,” Serena cursed with widened eyes, then she broke out running, leaving me behind completely.

She ran with all she had as she pushed past the crowd through the market. I followed after her, adopting a more technical approach as I knew I had no guns on me.

From where I was in the midst of the crowd who were trying to run, I could spot the attackers.

They were firing off from the left of the house while some raided other homes.

I immediately calculated a quick plan and marked out the right house for it. I didn't have time to find Serena, I just hoped I would find her later.

I went around the market and crowd, locating the house I had marked out and jumping in as quietly as I could from the window.

I quickly took cover and peeped out to watch as an attacker molested the owners of the house while another searched around the house.

I took a deep breath and looked around, searching for anything I could use as a weapon.

But the room I was in had only clothes and looked pretty much like a makeshift laundry room. The only usable item I found was a mop. But it had to do.

I picked up the mop and peeped out, waiting till the attacker who was searching the house got close enough to me.

The moment he was within reaching distance, I quickly jumped out and poked him in the face with the mop, aiming for his eyes.

“Ahh!” He yelped and covered his eyes. I immediately tackled him to the floor, aware that his partner would fire at me, which he did.

I rolled over quickly till the attacker was over me and used him as a shield while slipping his gun from his trouser and shooting his partner straight in the head.

I pushed him off me and fired him once in the head for good measures.

“Please don't hurt us,” I heard and turned to find a family of four all rounded at the corner and shivering.

“Shh!” I hushed them, signaling to them to keep it low even though I knew it wouldn't be long before someone came to check.

I tiptoed my way to the side of the door and as suspected, the door swung open not long afterwards.

I immediately sent a bullet to his head and stepped back, knowing what was coming next.

Rains of bullets tore through the walls around the door.

I rushed over to the corner they were in. “Run through the back!” I yelled and looked up before breaking through the window to the outside.

I landed and immediately tossed the mop into the head of the closest attacker before rolling on the floor quickly.

I moved as fast as I could and avoided bullets that followed me all the way till I reached under a truck.

From there, I took out each of them while staying at an angle they couldn't possibly hit me from.

I remembered what was at stake and rolled to the other side of the car. I peeped out to find a scanty set of attackers around Vanessa's place, or whatever was left of it.

I immediately rolled out and with precise shots, I took them all out from behind.

I ran towards the remains of the house as my previous challengers began following after me.

I went through the flames while sending bullets back to scare them. “Nico!” I yelled. “Maria! Vanessa!” I kept yelling, but got no answer.

I looked around quickly, still calling out. “Nico!” I went through the back and noticed a trail of blood leading down the street.

Oh no.
