Chapter 61 Tempting The Devils

Chapter 61 Tempting The Devils
Dante's POV

I slowly made my way towards the door, taking a steadying breath to avoid being seen, before pulling the door open slowly.

“Oh, mom. That was fa—” she began to say but stopped the moment her eyes fell on me.

“Oh, Dante,” she corrected immediately.

“Serena,” I responded in like fashion.

“What you doing here?” She asked with a confused look on her face.

“I came to sit with you,” I said while lowering myself to the step she was on.

“Oh, mom was here though. Don't know if she will be returning anytime soon,” she said cautiously.

“Are you chasing me away?” I asked with a smirk on my face.

She smiled and pushed a fallen strand of hair behind her ear. “No, not at all. Actually just surprised to see you here,” she remarked.

“Fair enough. I wanted to know how you are faring after all your mother said. How are you taking it?” I asked, quickly thinking up something.

“Well, all she said was the truth and to be honest, I just have to deal with it,” she said with a shrug.

I smiled, already expecting such a response.

“Not scared of what could happen?” I asked.

“Scared? I think I've seen enough to qualify as no longer a newbie. I can handle whatever comes,” she said with all manner of confidence.

I laughed it off immediately. “You really think you have seen enough to be treated otherwise?” I asked with a smirk.

“Yes,” she answered firmly. “I think I've seen enough. I mean, I've been between gunshots, been in car chases and I've been knocked!” She said proudly.

“And how many of those events were you not carried through?” I asked teasingly.

“Hey!” She exclaimed and hit me playfully. “Okay, not much. But I fought those guys alone and actually won,” she added before slowing down at the sight of my smirk. “Okay, then I was knocked out. But you get the point.”

I laughed, knowing she had no idea what's really in this.

“I'll leave all the action to you next time. There's still a lot more to come,” I joked.

She laughed, then it faded slowly till it wasn't there any longer. Her eyes soon dropped to the floor as she looked to have gone far beyond where we were.

“Penny for your thoughts?” I asked softly.

She smiled but it barely reached her cheeks. “Just wondering if we would actually be able to get the Morettis to let me go,” she admitted.

“To be honest with you,” I started with a deep breath. “I don't expect the Morettis to let you go alive,” I also admitted gravely.

“Really?” She asked, turning to me immediately.

“Yeah, to be fair, you shot Marco on one of the biggest nights of their records. They won't be forgetting that anytime soon,” I explained.

She lowered her head and ran her hands through her hair before looking back up to me. “So you saying there's no hope at all?” She asked.

I shook my head. “Not what I said exactly, what I think is that they'll make this difficult if not impossible. But I've never met the man with their ring, so I can't tell for sure who is to know how he would think,” I explained.

“That's literally the same thing as no hope,” she muttered, lowering her head again.

“Hey, whatever happens, we'll see it through. A price will be paid, and if it means having us all alive, then we'll pay it,” I said comfortingly.

She nodded her head, barely lifting it up.

I sighed and got up immediately, stretching out my hand at her.

“Hey,” I called towards her, shaking my hand in her face.

“Where are we going?” She asked, taking my hand slowly.

“Let's go for a walk, enough of this dampened mood,” I replied.

She looked reluctant at first, but then slowly lifted herself up as I joined to pull her up.

“It better not be something crazy,” she remarked as we stepped down from the last step.

I laughed. “And that's the one saying she's seen enough speaking,” I joked and she widened her eyes and mouth.

“You dick head,” she laughed and hit me playfully.

We laughed and walked a few miles before coming into a marker kind of place. The people there avoided eye contact with us and even the jovial looking marketers avoided calling us over.

Serena leaned up into me. “These people are giving me the creeps,” she whispered.

I laughed and leaned down to her. “Don't be surprised, it's not everyday you see Italians on the streets of Peru,” I whispered back and she nodded, looking around even as a kid ran off from her side.

“Speak for yourself,” she retorted. “I'm just a normal girl,” she added.

“Tell that to these folks,” I whispered and one of them probably heard me, a middle aged man. He just stood there, watching us.

Serena instantly quickened her pace and I didn't argue, matching her steps with single strides as we quickly found our way out of the market.

We came across a steepy road that led down a narrow path.

“You sure we should be going through here?” Serena asked, looking around suspiciously.

“There's no sign that says otherwise,” I shrugged and tugged her hand forward as we strolled down the road.

“Why do you think those people were so scared of us, I mean of you?” She said and I immediately laughed at her low blow.

“Well, gangs rule the majority of these lands and maybe they know me, maybe not. But they probably ain't happy to see someone abstract in their midst, especially since most of their activities here are without government official notice,” I explained quickly.

She nodded and her eyes lit up as she pointed towards something far off.

“Hey, those must be the statues of the seven little angels!” She remarked and quickly peeled her hands free, rushing towards the statue.

“Hey! Are you sure about this?” I yelled.

“Come on!” She screamed back. “Or you scared?” She added with giggles as I got closer.

“You know the answer to that,” I said firmly.

“Good, let's go,” she said, pulling my hands.

Few seconds later, we were standing face to face with the quote in quote, seven little angels.

“This place ain't that scary,” I remarked.

Serena just looked around, probably marvelled at the sight.

“Come on, I see a cave down there,” she suddenly said after running towards the spot she pointed.

“Serena! Wait up! What has come over you?” I asked as I met up with her.

I wasn't looking where I was going as the cave was a bit dark by now. I immediately crashed into something soft.

I threw my hands out immediately to catch what it was, realizing it was Serena.

I wrapped her arms around her and pulled her back from falling till her ass was pressing into my crotch.

“Ehm, Dante. You can let go of my boobs now,” she remarked with a giggle.

I immediately pulled away my right hand, just then noticing that I had it on her boobs all along.

She laughed but didn't step forward as her ass still pressed into me and my other hand remained round her waist.

“It's weird in here,” she said, looking around at the dark spots.

“I think that's enough site seeing for one year. Let's go,” I managed to say and stepped back, pulling her with me.

She resisted and I tripped over a rock, but quickly found my balance and came to rest with my back leaning on what I believe was the wall in a sitting position with Serena landing on top of me, between my legs.

My hands fell to her ass and before I knew it, she was straddling me with her hands on my chest and mine on her ass.

I should have gotten up, she should have gotten up by now. But she didn't, and I couldn't. I just couldn't.
