Mia's POV
As I approached Ava's cabin door, my excitement grew with each step. This human blood feast was the opportunity we had all been waiting for, the chance to finally take action and show our rivals who was boss.
I tapped on the door, my heartbeat quickening as I waited for Ava to answer. After a moment, the door creaked open, and I saw Ava standing there, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"My dear," she said, her tone warm and welcoming. "What brings you to my cabin at this hour?"
I grinned as I looked at her. Ava was always ready for a good gossip.
"I heard talk of a human blood feast," I said, my voice low and full of excitement. "And I wanted to know your plans as we head out to hunt."
Ava's eyes widened, and she nodded, a smile spreading across her face. "This is exactly what we have been waiting for," she said. "Let's finally take action and show our rivals who's boss."
As I asked Ava if she was ready to make human blood a major part of her diet, I saw the determination in her eyes as she nodded and said in a low and full of excitement "Yes, Mia. I'm ready to do whatever it takes to help our clan achieve its goals, besides I need to maintain my full health."
I smiled with a sense of pride. Ava had come a long way since she first joined the clan just a few months ago. She was no longer the timid she-wolf she was back then, but a strong and capable member of a prolific gang.
"I'm glad to hear that, Ava," I said with admiration for her. "The gang we are attacking tonight almost blocked the Shadow Clan out of their city port, saying we were outsiders."
Ava nodded as she looked at me. "You seem to know more about this gang than I do, please tell me more, so I have an idea of what to expect."
As I told Ava about the gang we were attacking tonight, she listened intently, her eyes locked on mine. I could see the determination in her eyes as I spoke, and it filled me with a sense of pride.
"These bandits have been a thorn in our side for far too long," I explained to Ava. "They almost made sure that our ship was banned from sailing into their port, or we were made to pay punitive fees. We can't let them get away with it any longer."
Ava nodded in agreement. "They deserve to be taught a lesson indeed," she said, her eyes glaring with anger. "We can't let them continue to bully us and our clan."
"How do you already know so much about a gang we have only encountered once?" Ava asked with curiosity on her face.
Thomas walked into the room, his eyes sparkling with humor and his smile warm and inviting before I could her Ava a reply.
"How are you doing girls?" he asked with his usual charm in his pose and voice.
I grinned like a baby as my cheeks turned red. Thomas had a way of lifting everyone up especially me, and his presence was always welcome.
"We are doing alright, Thomas," I replied. "We were just discussing the plans for tonight."
Thomas nodded, his eyes locked on mine. "Ah, the big attack?" he said, his voice low and full of humour. "I hear things are getting exciting."
"I look forward to feasting by your side." I said as I gave him a shy look, moving my hair out of my face.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world," he said, his voice even more seductive and playful.
"Oh, Thomas," I said, my voice low and full of admiration. "You always know how to make us smile."
Thomas nodded, his eyes locked on mine. "That's because I only have eyes for you," he said, his voice low and full of humour. "No one else in the world matters but you."
I smiled, feeling a sense of pride wash over me. Thomas was always ready to join in on our plans and support us through tough times. But as he leaned in closer, I noticed Ava shifting uncomfortably beside me.
"Can you love wolves please get a room?" Ava said with noticeable discomfort in her voice. "You know you are in public right? You can not tell who is watching."
"Oh, Ava, you're always so serious," he said. "Can't a man show his affection to the evasive love of his life?"
I grinned, feeling a sense of amusement. Thomas was always ready to flirt, no matter the situation, but Ava was clearly not in the mood for his antics.
"Let's not get carried away, Thomas," I said, my voice low and full of humor. "We have a job to do tonight, and we can't be distracted."
Thomas nodded full of understanding. "You are right," he said. "We have to focus on the task at hand. But let's not forget to have some fun along the way, eh? Life is too short to take everything so seriously."
As we all laughed, I couldn't help but feel a sense of appreciation wash over me. Thomas was always ready to lighten the mood, no matter the situation, and I was grateful to have him by my side even though I had still not forgiven him for cheating on me even though I feigned being cool with him.
After a few minutes of idle talk, Thomas excused himself and stood up. "I have to go," he said as he headed to the door. "I just need to check on something on the ship and go through final preparations for tonight."
As he walked away, I watched as Ava took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Thank goodness," she said with a sigh of relief. "I can't take his constant flirting."
I laughed hard pinching her cheek as I felt a sense of amusement about Ava's reserved nature. "He is just trying to help us relax," I said. "Let's not get too worked up."
Ava sat across from me, her eyes locked on mine, a look of concern etched on her face."Is everything okay?" she asked, her voice low and filled with genuine concern.
I took a deep breath and looked away. "I don't know. We just seem... distant."
Ava nodded, her expression soft and understanding. "I've noticed it too," she said. "It's like you are trying too hard to show affection in public and not being honest with each other in private."
I nodded, knowing she was not far from the truth. "You are right, I do not know what's going on."
Ava took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "We need to talk."
I nodded, my voice low and full of appreciation. "You're right. Let's talk. This can't go on like this."
As we both sat back in our chairs, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. Ava was always the voice of reason, and I knew that whatever it was that was going on between us, she would help me figure it out.
"What is it?" Ava asked. "What's going on between you and Thomas?"
I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I think we're just... out of sync, I don't know what else to say."
I nodded barely making sense of what I just said as my eyes grew red with tears. "I know," I said. "We've been running around so much lately that we haven't had time to just... be."
Ava nodded, her eyes locked on mine. "Mia you are crying, what are you hiding from me? It is so unlike you to keep things away from me." She held me tight in her embrace. "Please share what the problem is, let us work through it."
Ava was always there for me, and I knew that whatever it was that was going on between me and Thomas, she would help me figure it out. This was just a bump in the road, I told myself, and we would find our way again.
Ava sat beside me, her hand on my shoulder, as I tried to compose myself. My eyes were red and tears were streaming down my face. She looked at me with concern.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice low and filled with concern.
"I caught him," I said, my voice filled with anger. "Thomas was cheating on me. At the beach with two human tourists."
Ava gasped, her eyes wide with shock. "I can't believe it," she said in disbelief. "I thought you two were so happy together."
I shook my head as I struggled to hold back the tears. "We were or at least I thought we were."
My eyes filled with tears again. "I thought he was my life mate but now I know he is not. We are just friends with benefits."
Ava took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I'm so sorry, darling, you do not deserve this, you deserve way better. Life just has a funny way of playing out."
I shook my head as the tears continued to flow freely. "But I can't break up with him," I said. "I just can't."
"Yes, you can," Ava said. "You do not need him anymore. You deserve better than him."
I wiped my tears with the back of my hand. "You are right, I wish I could just be done with him and move on but who is going to treat me the way he does, make me feel loved the way he does, give me a good pussy beating like he does."
Ava smiled with a look of surprise on her face. " Mia, oh come on, what nonsense are you even talking about? You are stronger than you think."
I nodded, "Thank you, Ava. I can't do this without you."
"You know you can always count on me, just as you can count on me." Ava said as she brought a bowl of water for me to wash my face and a towel to dry it.
