Ava's POV

I slowly opened my eyes, feeling William's chest beneath me. I was disoriented for a moment, but then I remembered that I had fallen asleep on him last night. I sat up slowly, my eyes adjusting to the light filtering in through the windows.

As I slowly sat up on the little couch, feeling the chill of the room against my bare legs. I glanced at William, who was still deep in sleep beside me, his breathing slow and steady. I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude wash over me. I was glad to have him here, even though we were in such a dangerous situation.

As I looked down at my nightgown, I suddenly realized that it had come undone. The strings that held it together had come loose during the night, and now the gown had given way with my navel, crotch, and legs fully exposed. I felt a flush of embarrassment wash over me. I had to fix this quickly, without waking up William.

I carefully pulled the fabric of the gown together, trying to rethread the strings without making any noise. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, afraid that William would wake up and discover me in such a vulnerable position.

I managed to get the gown back together, I took a deep breath and let out a sigh of relief. I glanced at William again, making sure he was still asleep. I slipped off the little couch, careful not to wake him, and made my way to the bathroom to compose myself.

Thankfully, everything had gone smoothly, and William was still in the depths of his sleep. I took a moment to gather myself, trying to calm my nerves.

I returned to the couch, staring at William as he slept. He was so quiet, so still, and yet I could see the tension in his jaw as he dreamed. I suspected he couldn't sleep well, not with the things that had happened to us.

I decided to make a healing and protection potion in my room, the same one the gnome had shown me how to make at a conference William took me to.

I slowly got up from the couch, careful not to disturb William, and made my way to my potion storage locker trying to be as quiet as possible as I started to gather the ingredients I would need. It took a while to find everything, but once I had it all, I got to work.

I started by heating up a pot of water, and then I added the herbs and other ingredients. I stirred it all together, feeling the heat from it rising up to my face. The smell was strong, but not unpleasant, and I knew it was starting to work.

I watched as the potion bubbled and boiled, and then I added the last ingredient - a tiny crystal that the gnome had given me. It was beautiful and delicate, and I knew it would make the potion even more powerful.

As I stirred it all together one last time, I felt the magic surrounding me. I could tell that it was working, that it was starting to heal me even before I drank it.

I let the potion cool down, and then I carefully poured it into a small bottle making sure that it was tightly sealed. I stared at the bottle for a few moments, feeling a sense of pride wash over me.

William groaned, rolling over and sitting up on the couch. "Good morning, Ava," he said, his voice sounding just as hoarse as mine.

I smiled. "Did you sleep well?"

William nodded, but he looked a bit tired. "Well enough, I guess."

I nodded, feeling a twinge of guilt for all that had happened. "I'm sorry, William. I know it's been a lot for you to deal with."

William waved a hand dismissively, but I could tell he was feeling the same guilt. "It's not your fault, Ava. We both knew what we were getting into when we agreed to this life."

I nodded. "Thank you, William. I know it's not easy being the grand patron and Alpha of a ship like this. But I appreciate all you've done to keep me safe."

William smiled, his expression softening. "And I appreciate everything you've done to help me. Together, we make a pretty good team."

I laughed. "I think we do, William. I think we do."

William's eyes widened as he looked at me, curiosity written all over his face. "What do you have in those bottles, Ava?" he asked, his voice filled with wonder.

I smiled at him, feeling a warmth in my chest. "The potion is a healing and protection potion, William," I explained. "It's made from a mixture of herbs and other natural ingredients, and it can help us with any injuries we may have, as well as protect us from harm."

William's eyes lit up with excitement as he listened to my explanation. "That sounds amazing, Ava, how did you learn how to make this?" he asked, his voice filled with awe.

"I learned how to make it from a gnome at the conference you took me to, remember?" I said, my smile turning into a grin. "He was very wise, and he taught me how to brew it in just the right way."

William reached out for the bottles, his eyes locked on them. "Can I try it?" he asked, his voice filled with excitement.

I nodded, handing him the bottles. "Of course, William, here you go," I said, feeling a sense of pride at my accomplishment.

William took the bottles, examining them carefully. "How do I drink it?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

"Just take a sip and let it work its magic," I explained, feeling a sense of satisfaction at the way the potion could help me, William and any hurt member of the Shadow Clan.

William raised one of the bottles to his lips and took a small sip, his eyes closing as he felt the potion's magic wash over him. "Wow, that's amazing, Ava," he said, his voice filled with wonder. "It tastes like home."

I laughed, feeling a sense of pride and joy wash over me. "I'm glad you like it, William. And don't worry, that's just the beginning - we still have three more bottles to go, you should keep those."

William nodded, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "I'm ready, Ava," he said, taking another small sip from the bottle. "Let's see what this potion can do."

As the conversation went on, William looked at me, his eyes filled with seriousness. "We should keep those potions for extreme situations," he said, his tone low and solemn.

I nodded, understanding the gravity of what he was saying. "Yes, William, you're right," I said. "If we ever find ourselves in a situation where we're not able to feed on human blood, these potions will be our only source of healing and protection."

William nodded, a serious look on his face as he continued. "And let's be honest, Ava, it's not like we don't have more than enough adversaries across the world to feed on."

I sighed, feeling a mixture of anger and frustration wash over me. "Yes, William, you're right again," I said, my voice laced with a hint of sadness. "We may not always have the luxury of being able to feed on human blood, and in those situations, these potions will be our only source of healing and protection."

William leaned back on the couch, his eyes fixed on mine. "I just want to make sure that we can survive anything that comes our way," he said, his voice filled with determination.

I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and gratitude wash over me. "And we will, William," I said, my voice firm. "As long as we have each other, we can survive anything. And if these potions can help us do that, then they're worth their weight in gold."

William nodded, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "Let's just hope it never comes to that," he said. "But until then, we'll keep these potions as a last resort."

I shook my head. "Agreed," I said, taking his hand in mine. "And until then, we'll feed on whatever adversary comes our way. Together."
