Chapter 595: Not Becoming a Mistress
Chapter 595: Not Becoming a Mistress
After catching her breath for a good while, she finally spoke slowly, "Lawrence, did you forget? Today is your wedding day. You're already married!"
Lawrence raised an eyebrow. "So what? What's your point?"
A smirk played on his lips, his amusement growing.
Molly suddenly felt that the Lawrence in front of her must have some wicked idea in his head. Anger surged through her, and she shouted at him, "Get out! I'd rather die than be your mistress!"
Lawrence chuckled. "You don't want to be a mistress? Well, too bad. I'll make you one anyway. I'll make you do things you hate, just to match the pain you caused me back then!"
He lifted a hand and pinched her cheek. The next second, his handsome face moved closer, and his thin lips pressed against her red ones.
Their lips were tightly sealed together, and it suddenly reminded Molly that just a few hours ago, at the wedding, Lawrence had kissed Zola on the cheek!
She felt a wave of disgust, every pore on her body tingling with revulsion.
Taking advantage of Lawrence's distraction, she quickly pressed her lips together, refusing to let him continue.
Lawrence's smirk deepened as he forcefully pried her lips open.
He leaned in again, kissing her.
Molly struggled, but she couldn't break free, and could only let Lawrence kiss her.
It was a long time before Lawrence finally let her go. He even licked his lips theatrically, a wicked smile on his face. "Now I understand the thrill of cheating. The taste of a mistress is surprisingly sweet."
Molly was furious, but she couldn't express it. Tears welled up in her eyes and began to fall uncontrollably.
Lawrence's wicked smile faltered, his expression momentarily stunned.
Molly's hands were tied with ropes, so she couldn't wipe her tears and could only let them stream down her face.
She stared blankly ahead, her voice faint. "Lawrence, stop torturing me. Just give me a quick death. Kill me."
She would rather die than be his mistress!
Lawrence was taken aback, staring at her for a long time before he came to his senses. He gently caressed her face with one hand. "If you really want me to let you go, it's not impossible, but..."
He changed his tone, raising an eyebrow.
Molly didn't understand his meaning, but his words caught her attention. She quickly asked, "But what? Tell me, what do I have to do for you to let me go?"
Her face was full of hope and urgency.
Seeing her like this, Lawrence's expression darkened slightly. He then spoke slowly, "Alright, if you repay the money you owe me, I'll let you go. How about that?"
Molly frowned, asking dumbly, "Repay you? When did I ever borrow money from you?"
Lawrence released her chin and sat beside her.
Molly sat up straight and saw him pull out a piece of paper. She strained to move closer and craned her neck to see.
The paper was a contract she had signed when she sought his help for the Koch family. Her signature was at the bottom right corner.
Back then, the Koch family and the Richardson family decided to expand into Regal City. They aimed to secure a major project in the city's business district.
The project required a significant amount of capital. Both families quickly invested all their funds, but when the project needed more money later, they had nothing left.
They couldn't halt the project because stopping it would mean losing their initial investment and incurring massive debts.
Having just arrived in Regal City, they had no connections or resources to seek further investment or loans.
Desperate, they thought of Lawrence, who had become the richest man in Regal City. Brice and Seraphina approached Molly, who had no contact with them, to ask for her help in pleading with Lawrence.
Molly still remembered the scene when she approached Lawrence.
After years apart, they met again in his spacious office. Lawrence sat behind a large desk, legs crossed, wearing a custom-made suit, lounging lazily in his chair.
Molly remembered being led into his office by his secretary. Before she reached the desk, the secretary stopped her. "Ms. Koch, please stay here. Mr. Parker doesn't like people getting too close. Speak from here."
With that, the secretary left.
The large office was now just her and Lawrence. Molly was intimidated by his powerful presence, standing nervously with her long fingers slightly curled, feeling a bit lost.
Finally, she mustered the courage to look up at him.
Though the distance between them wasn't far, Molly felt as if there were mountains separating them, making it hard to see him clearly.
Molly's face gradually turned pale, her mind blank under his gaze, not knowing what to think or say.
Lawrence was the first to speak. "Long time no see."
His voice was still as magnetic as before, perhaps even more mature with the passage of time.
A slight smile on his lips gave a gentle impression.
He wore gold-rimmed glasses that hid his deep eyes.
Hearing his words, Molly finally managed to respond stiffly, "Long time no see."
After that, neither of them spoke, and the office atmosphere grew awkward.
Lawrence, sitting at his desk, slowly asked, "Why did you come to see me?"
His tone was polite but carried a sense of professional detachment.
The Lawrence in front of her felt unfamiliar, vastly different from the man she had lived with in a small apartment years ago.
Molly took a deep breath, feeling a sense of futility.
But since she was already there, she decided to push through. "I came to ask for your help with something..."
Lawrence raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms, his posture lazy yet noble. "What is it?"
Molly took another deep breath, steeling herself. "My dad has a project with great potential. I wanted to ask if you'd be interested in investing..."
"Are you talking about the project the Koch family and the Richardson family are working on together?"
Molly was taken aback, quickly looking up to see his deep eyes filled with amusement, as if he knew everything.
She nodded. "Yes, that's the one."
Lawrence's smile widened. "I know about that project. From what I understand, there's a significant funding gap. If no new funds are invested within a week, the project will fail, and both families will be saddled with massive debt."
Molly forced a smile. "Yes, you're right."
Lawrence raised an eyebrow again, his gaze behind the gold-rimmed glasses growing sharper, fixed on her. "You came to me to ask for an investment?"
Molly frowned, knowing she shouldn't have come to him for help, but thinking of the Koch family, she pressed on. "The project's potential is great. You should seriously consider it. But if you're really not interested, then forget it."
She couldn't stay any longer and turned to leave.
Lawrence suddenly spoke. "Molly, is this how you ask for help?"
Molly paused, turning to look at him. He remained in the same position, a slight smile on his lips, but his gaze was icy, giving off an air of superiority.
Molly felt uncomfortable under his stare, but thinking of Brice and Seraphina's tearful pleas, she softened. After all, they were her parents, the ones who gave her life.
Her voice softened. "Lawrence, I'm begging you. Can you invest and help them?"
Lawrence narrowed his eyes, his expression cold. He stood up, walked around the desk, and approached Molly.
Standing in front of her, his tall figure blocked the light, casting a shadow over most of her face.
Molly felt a sudden fear, instinctively taking a step back.
The next second, Lawrence grabbed her chin.
The cold touch of his fingers on her skin left Molly momentarily stunned, making her instinctively shrink back.
Lawrence smiled faintly. "If I remember correctly, Billy is the eldest son of the Richardson family."
Hearing Billy's name from his mouth immediately reminded her of the reason for their breakup years ago, her face turning pale. "Yes, you're right."
