Chapter 19 The princess who became a prisoner
Chapter 19 The princess who became a prisoner
Now I had an actual reason why I should avoid the training room. I had to find a new room to keep up my momentum, also to find a new way to outsource my anger. The only reason I didn’t teleport to and from the cave was the chance to see Alaric on the way. Now I would have to teleport to and from my room every time I wanted to see Xerth.
I have seen Theodore from time to time. That little creature with his little golden locks makes the time here at this castle go by quicker. Thankfully Rosemary does not leave me alone for more than half a day. She’s worried Levan will attack me again, and she won’t be able to defend me, not that she can do anything really. She always has an excuse to see me now, whether if I have eaten at all that day or if I need to change into new clothes. Even if to just clean my room, which isn’t part of her job requirement, but she does it voluntarily.
I been wanting to talk to my sister about my boy problems but she hasn’t picked up in a few weeks. Mother is probably keeping her busy between making plans for a new marriage or with other royal duties. I would teleport to her room, but it’s too far of a distance to reach her. By the time I get to her, I would have exhausted my powers until the next day.
I am thankful that Levan has sought me out to apologize to me. Now that I’m fully recovered, now I’m ready to bash his head into the wall, but I mustn’t get so violet for it’s not lady like of me.
I did though want to go see Xerth tonight, so I got ready. When I got to the cave, Alaric was there. Just my luck. Sometimes he would catch me here in the cave, which is when I disappeared. Other times, I would catch him here like right now, at this very moment. Before I could teleport out to my room, he appeared right before I could get away. He held onto my arm and said, “Wait. We need to talk”.
“No we don’t. You said everything I needed to hear from you”. I made the move to leave, but this time, Alaric grabbed my hand. He looked at me with pleading eyes. Fuck my life.
Seeing as Alaric won’t let me leave, I leaned against the wall and sat down on the floor opposite of where he was. Xerth came next to me and put his head on my lap.
“So, speak will you. I don’t want you to regret begging me to stay”.
“Look, I don’t regret what happened that day”. That made me look up to him. “I regret that I kissed my brother’s betrothed, and because of that he hurt you”.
“So you don’t regret what we did?” I was genuinely curious, because if he didn’t regret, what does that mean for us in the future? Where do we go from here? Do we run away together? Do we tell our parents and let them down at the same time?
All these questions going through my brain, but somehow Alaric seemed to notice my hesitation for he came to me and put a hand to the back of my neck and gave me a soft kiss on the lips. Xerth noticed what was about to happened and got off me. Alaric pulled me up from my sitting position, pushed me against the wall. He then used his other hand to put it to my back which brought our bodies closer together.
He paused for a moment before whispering in my ear, “The only thing I regret is not kissing you sooner”. After he said that, he deepened the kiss further in, pressing me more into the wall. His hand was still at the base of my neck, then he slightly tugged my hair giving him an opening to my neck. Trailing kissing down my neck to my collarbone made me slightly moan. I felt my wings wanting to get out, but I had to resist the urge for them to break free. So I did the only sane thing I could possible think of before it got out of hand, I pushed Alaric off.
He looked at me all confused, but before either could say anything, I heard my sister calling me through my mirror. I forgot I put the mirror in bag, hoping I could talk to her if Alaric didn’t show up.
“Lilith! Lilith! O please, please answer me!” Even through the bag making her sound muffled, she sounded scared, maybe desperate.
I ran to my bag, looked for my mirror and answered, “Scarlet! I been trying to contact you for weeks now. What happened? Why are you whispering? Are you ok?”. All these questions had to get out of my mind before anything else.
“Lily, I’m scared. Mother sent me here to this strange kingdom. It’s in the east or south of home…and I’m so scared here Lilith”. She started sobbing, and through tears she said, “please come get me”. She was crouched in a corner, probably in her room. Her face was obscured by shadows that were casted in her room.
“Scar, let me see your room”. I had to make sure no one was in there making her say this, or hear what I was about to tell her. She showed me room which seemed dark but I didn’t see anyone. She moved arm and I heard chains. “Do they have you locked up in that room like a prisoner?”
She nodded her head and started crying. “Ok Scar calm down. Can you go to the window and look outside? Tell me what do you see?”, I had no way of calming her down.
“I see sand and smoke everywhere. There’s no mountains here or anything. Just hills of sand”. She sounded so mournful, if I could reach into the mirror to hug I would. “Everyone here wears cloths that cover their faces, and no one talks to me. I tried sending letters home but I haven’t gotten anything back. Mother took my mirror away, but I took this tiny one with me just in case”.
“Has anyone tried to hurt you?” She comes into the light and that’s when I see her favorite dress all torn up and have blood in random places.
I was so busy talking to Scarlet that I forgot Alaric was also present. He pulls out a map and lays it in front of me. I nodded and worded ‘thank you’ to him. “Scar, I know where you are. I’m going to get you. Call me through this mirror if anything changes. Got it?”, she hangs up and I get up.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Alaric pulls my arm back and makes me turn to him.
“I’m going to save my sister”, I looked at him and pulled my arm away.
He grabbed my arm again and said, “Not without me you’re not".
