Chapter 18 Regrets and woes

Chapter 18 Regrets and woes
I didn’t see Alaric for the next couple of days. I went to the training room every day and went to visit Xerth everyday as well. Was he avoiding me because of what happened in the cave? We were both drunk and our ecstasy was high that day for some reason. It’s not like I been wanting to kiss him for the longest time. For him to have his hands on me like it was that night. I did not plan for any of that to happen, but it did happen and I don’t regret it any of it.

I was lying in bed when all these thoughts was spewing through my mind when I heard a pounding on my door. Well ok then, someone seems to be mad. I open the door and before I could process who it is, I feel hands on my shoulders pushing me in my room, all while catching me off guard.

“You fucking whore”, that was definitely Levan’s voice. “Heard you been hanging out with my brother, playing with swords in secret. IN MY OWN CASTLE!” He screamed the last part in my face before throwing me across the room and where I landed against my armoire before falling on the floor. I saw him coming for me again, so I lifted my hands, black swirls wrapping around his limbs to sustain him in midair. My head was pounding and I felt warm liquid going down my back. He screamed or roared and started thrashing against my power. I was weak from my head injury so I knew I wouldn’t hold him for long. So I threw him across my room where he landed with a thud on the floor.

“You stupid bitch, after everything my family has done for you. You go playing sword fights with a nobody”.  He got up again and I prepared myself to fight him, even with my head injury.

That’s when Rosemary came bursting through the door with the Queen on her side.

“Levan Antonious Zacar! What are you doing?” I heard the Queen yell at Levan from afar, but I was too exhausted from all the throwing around.

Rosemary came to me and said, “O Lilith! I sorry I didn’t come sooner but as soon as I heard yelling, I ran and got the Queen”. I nodded my head at this. I saw the Queen pulling Levan up from the floor and yelling at him. I was too far away or my head was pounding too loud for me to hear what she was saying.

Rosemary guided me to the bed when Cassandra came to me and said, “O dear. I do hope you threw Levan harder than he threw you”.  I chuckled at this for I thought the Queen would defend her son’s actions. “I apologize for my son’s actions today. I will see that he face the consequences for his actions today”. She said this all while kneeling down to meet my level and holding my hands. She turned her head towards Rosemary, “Bring her to the infirmary Rosemary. And be haste for who knows what other injury she may have”.

“Yes my lady”. Rosemary bowed as she said that.

Getting up, the Queen looked around my room with displeasure and started to walk out. Before she left, “I will check upon you later dear. And please, no more throwing people around. Do take it outside next time”.

The Queen keeps surprising me more and more with each passing day. Rosemary, as promised hauled me to the infirmary where I was poked and prodded with needles. My body was rummaged with many hands and I was seen by many, many, MANY doctors and nurses. The Queen did come by to check up on me as promised. She advise me that I should take it easy and rest for the next couple of days.

I found out that I fractured two ribs, while also having a mild concussion. I sprained my wrist, probably from falling to the ground after hitting the armoire midair. I wonder what kind of injuries did Levan sustained from me throwing him across the room. I should've asked Cassandra, but I was exhausted from all the exams that was done to me today.

I was sent to my room to resf, but I couldn't. Lying in my own bed is so boring. I was a little disappointed for I didn’t even have the chance to see if Alaric would show up today to the training room. Doubt it though, but still I would’ve like to see him.

Drowsiness soon seeped into me, for I fell asleep thinking about how I didn’t get the chance to visit Xerth today either.

It was dark outside when I woke up to Alaric sitting next to me in a chair, but he wasn’t awake for he was sleeping in an uncomfortable position. He must be a light sleeper for he too also woke up once I started to sit up from my bed.

“I just wanted to see if you were alright. I’ll be going now”.  He said this, then got up as if he was getting ready to leave.

I reached for his hand, whispered “Wait”, to which he stopped, slowly turned around and looked down at me. “Do you hate me so much that you don’t wish to talk to me now?”

“No I don’t hate you. I’m ashamed of what happened. You are betrothed to my brother, the true king. I’m the just king's bastard that no one should know about or seen with”.

I paused for a moment before asking him, “but do you regret what happened yesterday?”

“Yes I do”, was all he said before walking out of my room.
