Aurora P.O.V.
I was terrified that we would be found any minute now by the person that has been following us and that he would kill us. I didn’t know what to do besides keep running but now therewas only so far that we could run with the trees, branches and other plants in the way.
Then, there was that sound. The one where it sounded like someone was shuffling through the tree’s. They found us and there was no way that we would be able to move fast enough to get away from them.
My breath hitched.
Maybe it was nothing more than one of us though. Thats what I was hoping for, “Stop.” Lucas said, his voice was barely above a whisper when he spoke but he was full of confidence from the years of working with his brothers, my mates. Everyone stopped, the only thing that I could hear was my own heartbeat as it beat wildly against my chest and begging for an escape.
There was that rustling again, a tree benign moved or someone worming around a tree, “Girls, low to the ground and behind the tree’s” Levi said, his words were the law in this very moment and there was no reason or way in which I was willing to argue with him, not now and probably not ever.
I moved with the Luna, she was stealthy and fast with each step, she moved like a predator and I tried my best to stay caught up with her. Then I heard the shuffling, “Wait!” Someone shouted. It wasn’t just anybody though, I would know that voice in whatever life time that I was in, it was my brother.
I came back out of the tree’s, “I thought that I told the two of you to go hide behind the tree’s.” Levi growled, his voice was more demanding than he had been before. My body was pressed up against his, “And, I don’t take orders from you now step aside so I can see my brother.” I growled back. My wolf was ticked off snarling through my mind while she looked at Levi.
The luna chuckled, “Levi, why don’t you just stand down for once, obviously we aren’t in any trouble right now and if she says that its her brother than its probably her brother.” Luna said, there was a warmness in her voice when she lectured my mate about trying to get me to hide from my blood.
While Levi may have been willing to budge his other two brothers were much less inclined to let me through the barricade against my brother, no matter how much they loved him, “Stop being so alpha males.”I huffed, trying my hardest to push through there bodies made of pure steel. They had to be made from steel from the way my body bounced off of theres like some kind of impenetrable wall.
“Its me, Alphas.”My brother tried to say in a quiet whisper while he made his way towards me.
It felt like everything in the room had suddenly become less tense. It felt like muscles had relaxed for a minute just knowing the person that had been following us all this time hadn’t been a lycan at all. It had been my brother, the only other person that I would be comfortable with till the day that I died. I didn’t realize how many emotions that I had been trying to shut down since the moment that we had left the safety confinement of the bedroom. I didn’t realize how much I had closed myself off.
But, the second that I saw my brother I fell down onto my knees with my hand to my chest, “Whats wrong?” Lucas asked, he was the first one to kneel down beside me while he took in my appearance. I shook my head, because I didn’t know what was wrong, all I could feel was a growing pain in my chest. It consumed me and everything that I would be doing.
Liam, my quiet mate was the second one to step in. His hand, resting on the small of my back, rubbing it back and forth. Something about the way that he did that, maybe it was the motion or the warmth from his hand, but it soothed me.
I took in a shaky breath, “I-I don’t know whats wrong.” I whispered, looking down at the ground underneath me.
“Try to explain it, love.” Liam whispered, his words sounded like a sweet lullaby against the aching paint radiating in my chest.
“We can’t be out here like this. They’ll find us and then we will get killed.”The luna said, there was something almost cold about the way that she spoke. It felt like she was aiming her words at me and it made the pain in my chest even worse. It felt like I was dying, or being stabbed in my heart and I couldn’t even stop it.
“Theres just sharp pain in my chest.” I whispered, clutching my chest and gasping for air, taking another shaly inhale.
My brother.
My rock.
My protector.
He stepped in front of me and then kneeled down, “You’re going to be okay. Do you know why?” He asked, I nodded my head no. He gave me his warm brotherly smile, “You’re going to be okay because you are rory, the same girl that outlived every beating, the girl that survived death. You are the reason that I survived our parents, so you’ll survive through this too.” He smiled.
It felt like I forgot how to breathe until he said those things to me. It was like his speech restarted my whole nervous system, “thank you.” I whispered, taking in a slow deep inhale and then exhaling even slower.
“Good job, aurora.” Lucas smirked, kissing the side of my head before extending his hand.Then I looked at Liam, “Thank you, your hands. They grounded me when I thought I was going to lose control.
There was something that shifted in the air, “Alphas?” I asked, looking at everyone around me.
“I- I smell something.” I whispered, trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I frowned, I knew that smell like I knew my next breath of air.
“How sure are you that she’s dead?” I asked, choking on the words that barely came out.
