Chapter 8 Chapter 8
Eiran
She slept on my back. Her hands wrapped and tangled into my fur so tightly that I was scared she would rip it out by the handful every time she stirred.
But she didn’t wake up.
I didn’t know whether it was exhaustion finally getting the better of her or whether she felt safe enough with me to finally sleep but it really didn’t matter.
All that mattered was that we got to the city without incident. Not that I expected anyone from her village to stop us.
No, there was no one to come after her. In her own way Sloane was as cursed as we were.
And maybe in a way we were to blame for that. But she was as well, just for being born.
Just for being her, the moment she had seen my brother her fate had been sealed.
A human who fed us, a human who cared. It was just like the prophecy had stated.
After years of trying to find the right girl, I had a feeling that we had finally found her. And all I had to do was stop her being killed under the claws of my brothers madness and she-
“Eirian.
A woman stepped out of the shadows of the palace walls. Her lithe fit body encased in flowing silks that plunged low between her breasts.
I paused, looking around the quiet courtyard with a swing of my giant head. It was quiet , the whole city was and there was no one else around.
She shouldn’t be around either.
I had timed coming back here with precision so we wouldn’t be seen. I wanted to prepare Sloane for what was coming and I couldn’t do that if the whole city, including my brother, knew I had brought her here.
“Where have you been Eirian. Tywyll has been on a rage all night and we-“
Swinging my head back towards the blonde , I narrowed my eyes and growled low in my throat. She tucked her chin into her chest and averted her eyes.
That was better, she should have known better than to question me.
Powerful, she wolf or not, it didn't matter. I was her alpha and she would show me the proper respect. She was just lucky it was me and not my brother that she faced with.
On my back, Sloane moaned. Her grip on my fur loosened and she slipped from my back and onto the cobblestones with a thump that woke her up completely.
She cried out.
The woman in front of me didn’t move an inch to help, instead she surveyed Sloane like she was something scraped off her pretty slipper.
Like she was muck.
I shifted smoothly, my naked body rippling back into his human form.
“Little rabbit?” Bending over her, I tilted her face up to mine. “Are you hurt?”
She shook her head but there was no real understanding in her eyes when she looked around. The towering walls and buildings, the scents of fresh bread and dew touched moonflowers.
None of it made sense to her.
But why would it. She had never been here before. This was the wolf city. No humans came here and if they did they never left again to tell anyone about it.
It had been that way for centuries, maybe even millenia.
“Where am I?”
Taking her by the elbow I lifted her to her wobbling feet. “Home. We are home Sloane.”
“You can’t be serious Eirian? Another stray? Don’t you remember what Tywyll did with the last one.” The she- wolf grumbled under her breath.
Wrapping my arm around Sloanes shoulders I turned to face the woman, who didn’t seem to know her place.
“I am aware of the unfortunate souls that came before Ada.” I snapped. “But Sloane is different. Ty will be better with this one.”
He had to be because I was pretty sure Sloane was our last chance.
And unlike the others, Sloane had a connection with Tywyll.
“He isn’t better with anyone Eirian.” Ada snapped back and then something shifted in her body. She became soft.
Docile.
Seductive.
Stepping forward she pressed her hand to my naked chest and ran her hands down it.
“But you know best alpha.” She cooed. “You always know what is best for us. And I am glad you are home before the moon is full.”
Next to me Sloane stiffened and I knew why. Ada’s hands were perilously close to my cock.
Was my little rabbit jealous? Or was she so innocent she didn’t realise what happened between a man and a woman when they found each other attractive.
Or in my case, when the moon was full and I had to hunt a sweet body to sink into to keep my wolf satisfied
Blood and sex.
They always went hand in hand in this land.
“I have not chosen a partner for the next full moon,Ava.” I caught her wrist and pushed her away. Making her stumble back.
“Do not think you can touch me unless that chosen one is you.”
It wouldn’t be her, it wouldn’t be any of them. Not now my little Rabbit was-
I shook the thought away.
“Ada,take Sloane to the kitchens and the bath house and find her a room to sleep in. A nice room, not the fucking dungeon like you did last one. And be nice.” I put all the power of my alpha status into my words. “I need to find Ty, and speak to him before he hears what I have done from rumours.”
“Yes alpha." Ada nodded her head politely but her eyes were still defiant. I would have to do something about that.
“Are you not going to tell me to be nice to her?” Sloane found her voice suddenly. “Or don’t I matter?”
“You don’t matter.” Ada, grabbed her arm and dragged her away. “You’re just one in a long line of humans. You’re not important, you will be gone before the next full moon.”
I winced back. Instantly regretting asking Ada to do this when I should have done it myself.
“What happened to the other human girls that were brought here?”
“They died. Ty, fucked them and then killed them.” Turning Ada fluffed her blonde hair around her shoulders.
“But don’t worry human , you will be meeting Tywyll really soon.”
